IIRC, when you reach ten points, you can ban someone for three days.

The gist is that I won, receiving both the highest and lowest scores obtained in the time period of which it happened.  Maybe only the highest, though, I think Svevan might've beaten me out on the lowest part, but he didn't count.

What's the rule on bragging about your score?  That's still cool, right?  Because I've got one point, and that's two points more than BNM has.

There was something like that here in Gainesville, with both consoles and PCs.  People would do some heavy LAN gaming and they'd host tournaments every once in a while, but ultimately, they failed and moved along.  I think they were pretty expensive, but the one time I went for a Melee tournament, all the PC stations looked to be just about booked, so it's hard to say.

They actually sold some of JonK's artwork, of Starmen.net fame, too.  That was probably the coolest part, along with meeting JonK in person.

They took you pretty far away from the convention center!  How'd you get back?

I walked there and back, it was like 10-15 minutes away if you took olympic to broadway.

And holy sh** the hotel Lindy?

Sure, sure, but during the middle of E3, that's a lot of extra walking.

Kinect games, I believe, are all supposed to be a lower cost at retail.  I think $40 is actually their target price-point right now.

Yes.  It was one of the tethered, walking demos in the 3DS booth.

These were definitely the hardest things to spot.  They'd group up together so you'd assume they had different games.  Also, it's just awkward to play a video game physically tethered to someone.  Really, it is.

I just don't find taking turns to be immersive, I can absolutely understand the origin of play and the reasoning behind it, but I play games to enjoy the story and get lost in it, and taking turns is disruptive to my reality in the game.  I have no problem that such games exist, or that people enjoy them, I don't even think they're bad, I just don't enjoy them, personally.
I think you mean get immersed in it because no game can you really get lost in it, otherwise you start thinking you are the character and that is why pen & paper rpgs have a bad rep.  If you wanted to get lost in it, you'd want a movie more likely.

Okay, seriously, people nitpick stupid, unimportant details on this site way too often.

If someone doesn't like a gaming mechanic, they don't like a gaming mechanic.  Some people get bored by turn-based combat, while others see it more as a derivative of a game like chess, where strategy can be planned out.  It's just personal preference.

She wouldn't be the first person who thought that, but I don't know how they could come to that conclusion when they flat out state the opposite.

The ending part during the credits confused a lot of people.  They show plan Oceanic Flight 815 wreckage and no one around, supposedly added by ABC as a "decompressor," and just about half the people misread it as meaning the show never really happened.

Nintendo Gaming / Re: Place Yer Bets: 3DS US Launch Month
« on: June 22, 2010, 03:14:42 PM »
Back at GDC devs were saying that they were supposed to target game completion for release this year.

I'm sure they will have plenty of games ready for launch including the 3DSware Retro Upgrades.

Has anyone actually published the prospective list Nintendo has up on their press kit for 3DS titles?  It's long, I took a look at it for the first time today.

I don't think they are going to make their goal.

Mostly because I think they would be pretty dumb not to launch this thing at Christmas time and there is no way it's going to be ready for this Christmas.

Seriously?  With what they showed there, it looked like a variety of games were nearly completed.  Maybe not so many 3rd party titles, but some of Nintendo's games looked almost ready to go.  I say the third Sunday in November.

All aboard the hype trai.....ah @()@ it.

Was it just me or was NWR and PB down at the same time today?

What time?  Maybe I did something to break it.  I know Nick's been working on some site-wide functionality changes a lot lately, so it's possible.  Chris also almost broke the site.  Last night, I did break it.  Nick then proceeded to make it so what I did couldn't break it any more, then Chris did it later the following day.  I'm assuming it worked entirely, but it could've taken a moment.

Would I really make a thread about 2.0 in the funhaus?

I will tell you this much, there is a certain e3 video we haven't posted yet... YOU'LL HAVE TO TUNE IN TO FIND OUT TOMORROW!

Probably my biggest E3 regret was not getting to spend more time with Crimm.  I had about two minutes, total.  I was sad.

Wow, yeah.  That told you things nobody has said before, and demonstrates footage never shown.

Oh, right, they never really show the screen.  That says about the same as the previews I linked to, but rather than being written, someone speaks it.  As far as I'm aware, it also didn't actually use the gyroscope sensors, but I could be mistaken.  You definitely couldn't see anything from that video, though.  And if you think you do, trust me, the real thing is different.  A lot different.

Not much to say, I introduced myself, handed him a card, got a kit with their stuff, he asked what I thought between two new DS game cases, Chris tried out the Eagle Eye (I'm not an FPS fan, and he has mouse + keyboard experience).  It was nice to meet the guys.  I picked the case that had colors closer to PixlBit's, and perhaps in the future, we'll do some product reviews or something.  I'm not sure if Chris got enough time to write impressions of Eagle Eye, or if anyone went back for it, but I might write-up those DS game cases, just because more people need to know about them.

Richard is also the name of the guy who was at the Penguin United E3 booth.

So when UncleBob tells people to go to their booth and ask for Richard, it's a little disappointing when it's not UncleBob you get to talk to :(

Fortunately, I found out it wasn't going to be him ahead of time, at least.  And Penguin United has good stuff.

That's because anyone with videos or pictures of 3DS games in action, and not just the title or pre-demo screens did so against Nintendo's permission.  Plain and simple.

Imagine seeing a round portion of a table made out of some kind of springy rubber.  The center point bounces and depresses the most, with the outer portions moving less.  The demo seemed as practical as what you linked to, albeit possibly with better graphical effects, but also manipulated the table it was on in that springy, bouncy way.  Maybe at some point I'll come up with a youtube that resembles the part I'm talking about, but that could be a while from now.

This is ours.
This is NWR's.

I strongly urge absolutely everyone to check impressions of this thing out.  It really wowed me quite a bit, and was a step above any Augmented Reality game I've seen or heard of before.
