That advantage is shortlived though and the more time they waste the more developers will wake up and change their production. Sony's worst case scenario would be a highly anticipated game being released and not selling enough.

Very good points, but as we see there are developers that will support the PS3 even as it sinks to the bottom of the ocean, stubbornly clinging on to the decks as the ship goes bow-up and begins to disappear. Obviously a certain other game console developer has never had this luxury, and probably never will.

I heard the PSP's success was due primarily to the release of Crisis Core. Sustained momentum will be the key to a comeback. But I agree with you. PS3 has some very anticipated releases coming up. They're not completely out for the count, and they have developer indifference/inertia on their side.

Nintendo Gaming / RE: Any news on the September Wii Firmware Update?
« on: September 21, 2007, 05:18:58 PM »
I want USB Mass Storage Device support, extended USB keyboard support, and a Demo Channel. What was the big Internet surprise that was supposed to come at the end of this month supposed to be, anyways?

54
Nah, it's simple! All Sony has to do is to persuade its two other competitors to delay their next-generation consoles another half decade, so that the PS3 doesn't look like an obsolescent train-wreck of a video game console for  half of its projected lifespan.

Once they take that simple little step, everything will fall into place.

NWR Forums Discord / RE: Don't get political
« on: September 21, 2007, 05:02:32 PM »
The big question is, can we define objective criteria that separate overtly or primarily political threads (for example, 'DEMOCRATS VS. REPUBLICANS FLAMEWAR LOLWTF!!!11!oneone'), and threads that discuss a non-political topic but with strong political undertones? On one hand, the former type of thread tends to antagonize people without really broadening viewpoints, devolves into personal insults and unsupported assertions, and destroys the community and atmosphere of the forums. On the other hand, we have had plenty of the latter, during which people were respectfully discussing meaningful topics that had links to political subjects, synthesizing opinions and changing viewpoints, but which were closed because of that technicality.

Is it possible to separate the two? Because if it is, as the topic creator said, it would be a tremendous pity to throw out the latter in the name of controlling the former.

By the way, Evan, thank you so much for linking to something that most people know nothing about, but which desperately needs exposure in the West.

56
The topic that UncleBob linked to is an allusion to Castro. This is an allusion to Venezuela's leader Hugo Chavez unilaterally declaring that all the clocks in that country were going to be moved half an hour so that people had more daylight.

I have enough trouble getting my drivers and legacy programs to work correctly with Windows Vista.

With that being said...

This page describes how you can get all the tokens in the game.

You can't get additional tokens or vouchers for doing the same thing over and over again each time you play the game on a save file. The only exception to that are the two tokens for each boss on each difficulty (one for normal/veteran, one for hyper.) So you won't get the vouchers for X00 kills or saving the marines if you've already done so the last time you played through.

I remember the good ol' days when every program was always maximized and there was only one place to find all your apps. It was called 'Mac OS 6 before Multifinder'. Ah, those were the days.

A friend of mine says it could be a CYPHER, a small, flying security bot from MGS 2. Either that's one of Snake's attacks or his entrance.

Wait, does that mean the custom entrances are back? That would be awesome.

General Gaming / RE: How do you consider ratings?
« on: September 20, 2007, 08:38:05 AM »
What if games had 'recommended for' ratings? For example, instead of saying '8/10' (or in addition to saying that), reviewers explicitly recommended the game to target audiences.

For example,
'I recommend game X for sci-fi first-person shooter fans who like a frenetic experience.'
'I recommend game Y for anyone who likes RPGs and adventure games with an extensive plot.'
'I recommend game Z even for people who didn't like the prior game in the series.'

Conversely,
'I don't recommend game A for people who want online deathmatch mode.'
'I don't recommend game B for people who like RPGs with turn-based battle systems.'
'I don't recommend game C for people who are graphics whores.

General Chat / RE: iPod Touch

From what I hear, both the iPhone and the iPod touch have glass on the front, and are both very scratch-resistant.

By the way, Mashiro said back, but I copied wrong when I quoted him. So sorry about that

To cut corners and have a huge supply ready for the holidays

They certainly did cut corners, with the touch screens and the crappy iPod firmware. But apparently the screen problem is an isolated manufacturing defect that only affected the first batch.

iPod touch is apparently not as scratch resistant as the iPhone.

The iPhone back was some sort of brushed aluminum. The iPod touch back is the same polished metal that was used with the older iPods.

I fail to see the reasoning being that statement. Are the police actively trying to take away your constitutionally-guaranteed rights? Are they working with Bush to turn America into a police state? Have they been given equipment more formidable than police cars, sidearms (which are readily available to Americans), and police radios?

I would like to know why our police are militaristic, under whose discretion they should be acting, and who deserves the right to determine when 'safety' is at risk.

Sony 'lying' is the least of their concerns .

They were sued by a company called Immersion or something, and apparently settled.
