Thanks guys that's great.  It's weird but since i got the wii and from all the stuff i've read about the PS3 I kinda expect consoles to do more than just play games.  Games are my primary focus but wouldn't it be cool to have things like a Mii channel on the DS?

I have an additional question:

I've noticed in pics i've seen of the DS that the headphone jack looks a little weird. It has the circular jack and then something right next to it.  Do I have to use proprietary headphones or will regular h-phones work?

Manhunt was a sweet game.  Definately not for the kiddies.

Zelda is only flopping in Japan. The rest of the world is buying it like hotcakes.  Adventure games live on!

what ever happened to alkaline rechargables? Does anybody still use these?  Here's a non-nintendo question that's right up the alley of this thread. Why do current cordless phones use the rechargable batteries that have a memory? why don't they use batteries similar to cellphone li-on?  This has been bugging me for a couple years since my stupid cordeless phone won't hold a charge for more than half an hour....

I am thinking about purchasing a DS. I have looked at many websites and I have no question that there are some great games out there for it.  However, I am wondering what else I can do with a DS besides games. I know there is a browser coming out soon for it.  Does anybody know of any other non-game type applications for the DS?  Any good hacks out there?

It've noticed that most games that concentrate on shock value rather than fun usually turn out to be crap. BMX XXX is the perfect example.  If Matt Hoffman got it on with a Stripper with an IQ of 35, BMX XXX would be their love child.  The game is just that retarded.  GTA is the exception because it's violent but only as violent as you want it to be. I mean there's no options for not killing anybody or blowing stuff up but at least you can spare non-badguys from carnage.  I like how the Metal Gear Solid games reward you for not killing anbody. I think there should be more games like that.

I heard they were releasing "line rider" for the wii. Does anybody else think it's stupid to sell a flash game that anybody can play for free on the internet channel?  Ditto for the DS

Nintendo Gaming / RE: Weather Channel is live in North America
« on: December 20, 2006, 02:59:24 AM »
the weather channel has worked well for me. Some cities don't have 5 day forcasts but luckily my city does. At least I was able to check out the current weather for Cuba where I will be lying on the beach in T-minus 24 days.   It would be cool if it would show the current temp on the main Wii menu...

It's been said - and I don't have much reason to doubt this - that Final Fantasy VII's game data is essentially the same on all three discs, with the biggest and possibly only difference being the FMVs which take a lot of space.

Dude, you're right. I remember actually trying the disc swap thing back in the day. I was confused with the PC version of FF7 which if memory serves was on 4 CDs and took up about 2Gb on the HD.  I could be a little off on the actual size but it was über-huge for it's time.

I would love to see GTA on Wii.  As a semi-former PS2 fanboy I couldn't get enough of the series. The only one I haven't played and loved was Vice City Stories for PSP.  If they do bring GTA to the Wii I just hope it's not a port of one of the previous games.  And I hope it's not "mortal-kombatized" (That's a rib at MK on SNES in case you don't get it)

FF7 is on 3 CDs. It would probably be more around the 2Gb mark. When I downloaded Ice Hockey last night on the VC it took like a minute. It was probably about 200kb to download. So by that estimate it would take 166 hours to download FF7.  Sorry if my numbers aren't 100% accurate as i'm just speculating.

If nintendo would get opera up and running we could check the weather and news without using the dedicated channels. Plus we'd have an option of which source we get our news and weather from.

The Two Worst Console Launches Ever?

http://www.1up.com/do/blogEntry?bId=7711063&publicUserId=5519593

I think the fact that the Wii was the number 1 console launch in Europe's history is proof that Nintendo's launch was a huge success.  The fact that Wiis are scarce makes them even more desirable to consumers.

Dude I agree. If he was smart he'd take the electronics and run for his life   My buddy made the mistake of buying his girlfriend a PC and she dumped him a couple months later and didn't give it back. What a bizzitch...

The Wii is always going to win people over when they actually play it. To see people playing the games doen not do it justice. I would bet that if that girl actually tried it instead of just blowing it off, she would change her mind.  And if not, kick her in the junk...

It's supposed to be really good other than the graphics. Most reports say the FPS controls are the best on wii yet.
