Nintendo Gaming / RE: When do you strap your Wii?
« on: January 02, 2007, 03:18:15 AM »
I always wear mine. It feels like driving without a seatbelt when i'm not wearing it.  I just don't think it's worth the risk.

If you have ever been fishing the button you press to cast your line is under the reel so you use your index finger to press it, not your thumb.

You only use your index finger when casting an open faced reel. With a closed face reel you use your thumb. That brings up another cool feature to use for a wii fishging game. You could purchase different kinds of rods and reels allowing you to use either the A or B button for casting depending on what type of reel you have.  C'mon sega, we need a good fishing game!!  Sega Marine Fishing 2 for Wii!!

Nintendo Gaming / RE: Wii Strap Break Test
« on: January 02, 2007, 02:50:36 AM »
That would be sooo awesome if a strap test ended up on mythbusters. I think it would be very beneficial to both Nintendo and the Mythbusters show.  I think in order to have an accurate test thew would need to test 50 to 100 straps and average out the force required to break them.

Nintendo Gaming / RE: Is Blockbuster Wiitarded . . . .
« on: January 02, 2007, 02:44:39 AM »
The blockbuster by my place has the Wii games right next to the PS3 games. It's getting 2 shelves on one rack section. The PS3 is getting 1 whole section to itself.  I still think that rental stores didn't think the wii would sell half of what it did. As soon as more games start coming out, the rental stores will give us some wii-love.

The starnose part was the best!  I was just laughing histerically when I was watching it and my co-workers were staring at me... good times at work

How would you know that new Wii games don't suck a whole pile of ass before you pay $50 (way more than VC games) for them?

That's why I rent games before I buy them.  Unless it's a definate must have like Zelda or Superman 64

just kidding on SM64

I've seen lots in stores. Not actual Nintendo-made cables though. If you're ok with 3rd party cables you shouldn't have a problem finding them.

maybe try buying a little fan and aiming it at the wii. I do that with my LCD TV because when it over heats the menus all flip upside down.

Overheating + Electronics = Phailure

I like the idea of timed play.  For example. You download the demo for NES Tetris and it would allow you to play for an hour and then it would delete itself. Or with a game like tetris they could restrict you to 5 minutes per game.  I think it would work.  I never owned a Genesis but I did play some of the games on it. I've never played Gunstar Heros or Ristar. I won't download them even though they are supposed to be really good just because I don't know if I will like them.  If I could play a demo I would definately buy more games. As of right now I only have SM64, Ice Hockey and Donkey Kong because those are games i've played and liked.  Come on Ninty, give us some demos!

Nintendo Gaming / RE: Big Brain Academy

18 days, that's a sweet avatar! I remember finding that dude in Z2 back in the day and being very confused.  I can't wait for that game on the VC. I managed to get my score up to 1150 which is like 500 points higher than my previous best.  I really tried for accuracy rather than speed and I only got 2 puzzles wrong in all 5 catagories.  I got up this morning to come to work and I found my DS on standby mode with brain age running. I guess my wife didn't stay up late to watch the gilmore girls afterall

back when SF2 came out for SNES, my mom bought it for me for my birthday.  It was sooo popular that she had to buy it from some evil game store that jacked up the price to $120 cdn for it!  She paid so much for it back then I think I should be able to get the VC version for free

Nintendo Gaming / RE:Should I buy a SD Card for my Wii?
« on: December 27, 2006, 03:01:35 AM »
I've had my wii since Nov 19 and i still don't have an DS card for it.  I don't really think it's nessessary until there are more options for what to do with it.  If you don't have a ton of VC games then right now it's probably not nessessary.

I picked this up with my new DS and it's really fun. My wife even seems to like it which is weird because she's pretty anti-gaming.  Although BBA is different than most games.  I only did the "test" 2 times and got 630 and 660. Does that mean i'm retarded?  Or I probably just need more practice.  The teacher dude says that the average is 1400 which seems a little steep to me.  My IQ is above average and I would expect my brain weight to reflect that. Oh well, i'll just have to excersize my brain more!

I picked up a DS (last one in the store that wasn't pink!) yesterday with Metroid Prime: Hunters.  I got my wireless connection set up but I haven't played it online yet.  It's a pretty sweet game I must say!

A free VC game would have been cool. They should have let us download Tetris or SMB for free. Oh well.

Nintendo Gaming / RE: The legend of zelda remake for wii?

It would be cool if that big-ogre-on-a-pig-dude would randomly attack you in hyrule field. Remember back on FFVII, when you were flying around in the airship occationally a big boss type monster would attack?

It trades texture and model detail for no load times.

Remember that windwaker used cellshading and alot of solid color textures.  Solid colors are much easier for the wii/gcn to render than realistic textures.  If they did another windwaker style Zelda built from the ground up on the wii, I think they could make Hyrule Field ginormous.  I think they did a really good job with TP's field though. It's fairly large and I think it has enough variety.

Don't worry about it, it's unlikely.  If it does happen, it'd be Cloud, and then I'll enjoy beating on him with Link.

I disagree. FF VII sold me on playstation. If that game didn't come out I probably wouldn't have bought a PS1.  I still think it's the absolute best RPG ever made and is still in my top 5 games of all time. Agree to disagree I guess.
