Nintendo Gaming / 5 reasons why Dead Rising should be on the Wii
« on: April 05, 2007, 05:27:35 PM »
1. Playing as a Mii for more then just sports.

Except for Wii sports, not many games let you use the Mii’s to actually play as yourself, everything else you really didn’t have full control of the character throughout the entire game.  Dead Rising Lets you dress up the main Character in many ways, and it even let’s you cross dress and where funny hats.  With Mii’s you can change there body shape any how there head looks, but not what they wear, see where I’m going at here?  Being able to Make a Mii look like whoever you want, along with being able to dress them however you want could basely mean you can play as anyone in existence along with there wardrobe.  This way you’d actually be playing as a Mii for more then short bursts at a time.

2. That’s not all Mii’s can be used for.

Eventually, people are going to have dozens of Mii’s roaming around there Mii plaza.  So what will they be doing with themselves instead of wandering around the plaza for the rest of there pointless lives?  Why not give them a job as a Zombie?  Think of how awesome it would be to be going around a Zombie infested Mall and find that Chuck Norris Mii you’ve forgotten you made coming towards you, Zombified.  Now picture the same scenario with a Hitler Mii, a Jack Thompson Mii, or even a Mii of your friend.  In fact why stop with Zombies?  Why not choose which one of your Mii’s will be the main villains and even which will be your partners throughout the story.  It would make the adventure all the more personal and give your Mii’s some more use (But I think it would be a good idea if you can make it so certain Mii‘s won‘t get Zombified, like a girlfriend or your parents).

3. Wii Controls, if done right, could make the game awesome.

Have anyone you Played a game called Godfather: Blackhand edition?  Well I have and it’s thought me that it is possible to make Wii controls that work.  All of the executions can detect your movement so well that if it doesn’t respond, 9 times out of 10 its your own fault, and the whole control scheme really made it a blast to play.  Now, Back to Dead Rising:  Frank (the main character) has a lot of moves in his arsenal to help him get through the Zombie hordes because what fun is killing a Zombie if there aren’t a ton of ways to do it?  If done right doing Kung Fu moves to rip out Zombie organs could be 10x more fun then on a standard controller.  Combine that with being able to swing weapons and shoot firearms (which was real clumsy in Dead Rising) and you got yourself a smashing good time to be had.

4. Frank Takes Pictures!

Wii’s got channels, more then you probably use too often.  Well remember that photo channel it has (yes it‘s got a photo channel) that you’ve never used?  Well Dead Rising may be able to put it to use.  Isn’t one of the most memorable thing about Dead Rising is being able to take a picture of a horde of Zombies and have the word “horror” appear a couple hundred times with an occasional “erotica” due to Zombie cleavage?  Well imagine taking that a step further and be able to send them to the photo channel and being able to either add sunglasses to those Zombies or send them to a friend?  NiGHTS: Journy Into Dreams will use the wether channle so whats to say games can’t use it’s other channels?  It’d be awesome to send a pic of the chainsaw wielding clown right before he kills you to a friend and have a message saying “dude! Look as this guy? Is he scary or what?”  And since all you’d be doing is sending pictures, you can send them to anyone on your Wii friend list without any extra codes (like what Elebits did with the map editor).

5. Yes the Wii would be most likely to handle it.

If by now your thinking “No way the Gamecube 1.5 could handle the Ub3r 1337n355 of Dead Rising.  It can‘t handle that many enemies at once!” well I’m here to tell you it may be more possible then you think.  Lets go back to idea #1 and say that all the Zombies would be Mii-esq. characters, (which wouldn‘t clash to much with the main character him/herself being a Mii) which, if you think about it, wouldn’t be too bad as long as you can tell they’re Zombies (not to mention that it would be one easy headshot), The Wii would definitely be able to handle quite a bunch of those things at once.  The Mii plaza can look at 100 Mii’s at once, then take into account that there always won’t be that many at once on screen.  Mii’s are probably made up of very few pixels so there can be a whole bunch at once without pushing the system too hard.  Also take into consideration games like Spartan: Total Warrior for the Gamecube which had lots of enemies on screen:

The Wii is more powerful then the gamecube and it’s most likely Mii’s take up a lot less memory then those solder models.  There may have to some sacrifices like taking out monster scenes like this

but I’m sure if you make the Zombies Mii’s you can have any many of them at time as, oh, this:

All in all, maybe it wouldn’t be the 360 Dead Rising but if Capcom was to bring the series over to the Wii there are many reasons why it would rock.

Nintendo Gaming / How popular is Fire Emblem around the world?
« on: March 03, 2007, 05:09:33 PM »
Well, I've heard that Fire Emblem is very popular in Japan but how popular exactly?  If it's popular than how come it only sold 50,000 it's first week while a PSP game sold more than half a million at the same time? What would you compare it to an American game in terms of popularity?

And how does it do in other countries like North America or Europe? What real reason does Nintendo have to go to the work of translate all that text to release the wii fire emblem game in those places?

If anyone can throw some statistics on fire emblem it would be appreciated, I love the fire emblem games and want to know if it's doing well enough for Nintendo to keep making those games and translating them in English, or better yet if it's selling well enough for them to do something big budget like adding voices to at least most of the text.  Almost all other RPG's have a lot of voices so why not fire Emblem?

Nintendo Gaming / Okami and No More Heroes
« on: January 15, 2007, 04:15:00 PM »
I was looking at footege of Okami (IGN's game of the year) and it's graphic style reminded me a lot of the style No more heroes has (the look in the screenshots that arn't in the trailer) and it got me thinking that there really similar.  Granted there hasn't been any video of NMH's new style but I think it has the same kind of look.  And also NMH is being desighned by Suda 51 and after playing Killer 7 I know that if this guy makes anything it will be compleatly original and inovative which is what Okami was praised for (mainly originality).

So I got thinking, could No More Heroes be the next Okami?  Could it be the next extreamly stylish game that just kicks ass?  Could it take from GTA what Okami took from Zelda and improve on the idea to make it into something that players will realy cherish and see as something really special?  Or am I just bitter about anything like Okami ever coming to a Nintendo system that doesn't have link in it.

Nintendo Gaming / wiiconnect24 help
« on: January 06, 2007, 05:23:59 PM »
Ok, so I recently got an offician Nintendo wi-fi USB thingy and I'm able to now go on the internet with my wii and my DS, just one problem...

On the computer there's that thing where it tells you who's connected to the internet and everything but when my wii's on standby mode it doesn't say that it's connected, but when I do things like the internet channel and whatnot I've got a 3 bar connection. This happen with anyone else? Is the Wii still connected to the internet even thoe it says no one is connected? If lets say I kept wiiconnect24 on but I made it so it doesn't go into standby mode, will I still be able to get messeges from my firends without going into standby mode?

Help would greatly be apreciated.

P.S. I know there's a nintendo Wi-fi trend but after seeing how empty it was I figured I'd get a quicker responce if I put it here.

Nintendo Gaming / A concern of mine.us
« on: January 04, 2007, 08:03:12 AM »
so i recently got a nintendo usb wi-fi router so i let my wii stay on wii connect 24 overnight. the next day i find out that my wii and the router are both very hot and there was even one point in the day where the wii wouldn't even turn on, i had to unplug it and plug it in to get it to turn on.  So what i want to ask is: is it normal for those things to get hot when left on, and shoult i really keep them on 24/7?
I'd send it to the mailbag but i need a quick response.

Nintendo Gaming / Brothers in arms coming to the wii!
« on: January 03, 2007, 05:23:28 PM »
Along with two other games.

I just hope this doesn't end up being sloppy like Far cry (yes I have played it) and seeing as how this won't be pushed as a launch title maby it won't.  Anyone played a Brothers in arms game? Are they any good? Should I be excited at all?

Well I know at it's launch window the had great titles like red steel and Elibits as killer exclusives along with multiplatform titles that shine on the Wii like Madden 07, DBZBT2, and Rayman RR, but now that 2007 is almost here what's there to really look forword to in the future in terms of 3rd party support?  All I can think about now is Sonic, No more Heroes, FF:CC and toes games EA are making.  Is there anything else non-nontendo we shouls be looking out for or are we in for another gamecube?

P.S. I was thinking about this after reading EGM's newest issue

Nintendo Gaming / What's so special about Dragon Quest?
« on: December 23, 2006, 03:13:47 PM »
I understand that it's very popular in Japan, but why?  Why is it so popular?  What exactly is it about dragon quest that makes it stand out umong other RPG's?

Nintendo Gaming / Question about Wii tennis.
« on: October 11, 2006, 06:22:19 PM »
Well, I was watching some videos of people playing Wii tennis and it got me thinking, where's the challenge in it?  I mean you don't have to even move your character and I can't see how this could be fun for more than 5 minuts.  Doase it matter which side of your body you swing from? Is there more to it than just blindly swinging?  I just want to know if I'll even be enjoying the game.  This goes mostly to whoever has played Wii tennis.

Nintendo Gaming / I CAN'T TAKE IT ANYMORE!!!!!
« on: September 14, 2006, 05:15:09 PM »
Why dose it seem like everyone here on planet WHINEcube seems so upset about today's event.  So many of you people are so disappointed it's crazy, and what hurts even more is that you don't have a real reason to complain so I'll give my 2 cence about the Launch announcements.

1. the price: Nintendo stated that the concol won't be higher than $250 so why is this so unexpected.  Nintendo didn't break any proemeses, they gave you just what they said they would.  Did you all already forget about the "599 US dollars PS3 deal?"  And if your upset because it's only 50$ less than the Xbox 360 core model do you think anyone who really wants the xbox 360 will get the core model?  Anyone who actually got it only did because there were out of the regular model.
Then you keep bitchen that it doesn't come with a second controller therefore it's a rip off but I say it doesn't matter, if you've been paying close attention not every game in wii sports has each person using there own controller.  Games like bowling and golf have you pass the controller to one another so you can still play multiplayer.  And about Wii sports being packedged with the system without letting you choose what game you want or not but remember: you haven't played the game yet.  It seems there were no negative responses from the E3 demo and everyone walked away smiling, WHAT MORE DO YOU WANT!! It's something you have to experience for yorself to judge, gameplay videos don't cut it. One last thing about the price,I guess it's the media's fault for getting our hopes up at pricing the system at unreasonable prices like $150 or $170 but don't forget it's still the cheapest console on the market.

2.The controller price: What did you expect, obviously the controller is a lot more high tech then any other working controller so obviously it's going to cost more. And about the nunchuck being sold separately: not every game will use it, it's so we have a choice wether we want a Wiimote + Nunchuck or if we want the Wiimote by itself.  It's the gift of choice.  I will admit that this part of the argument is the weakest but I stand by the first sentence.

3. The launch titles: first everyone is SO happy that the Wii will have 30 launch titles and it mey mark the best launch in history.  Then MP 3 gets delayed and suddenly everything else sucks.  Have you already forgotten about LOZelda, red steel (which is shaping up great) Sonic ATSOTR, excite truck, Rayman, farcry, (inhale) splinter cell, dragon quest, a new and improved madden, Tony hawk and marvel UA (which had a lot of work put into the Wii version) <weezez> I'm sure there's more.  The point is if Zelda has taught us anything it's that A delay makes a game better, you you should be happy about this.

I kow I must sound like a ranting fanboy but with all the complaints on this site from Zelda control to the the vertual concole prices, to lack of a showing at PAX, to lack of online support nt the beginning of the lounch cycle, to release date to IAN!!!!!!!  I just couldn't stand not saying something.
