Nintendo Gaming / RE: Wii: The most visible logo
« on: October 25, 2006, 03:33:21 PM »
That makes since, since the Nintendo name to the mainstream over the last several years has been uncool.  So just having the name Wii will prevent people from getting those uncool feelings since they dont have to say or read Nintendo.

Which will allow the Wii to be cool to the mainstream audience.

Well everything about the PS3's launch has now been revealed.

Oh, I love how Sony's is charging 50 bucks for there half-assed controller.  For all the people that complained about the Wiimote costing $60, what do you people feel about Sony doing this?

Even though the song list isn't the greatest thing in the world, Ouendan song list wasn't that much better.  Some of the songs in Ouendan I didn't find all that great and two of them hurt my ears they were so horrible.

I wonder if the people that buy Super Swing Golf will have their names entered onto an FBI tracking list when they purchase it?

This is rather interesting, it turns out we'll be able to use the Gamecube and Classic controller to play this game.

To my absolute and utter surprise and amazement, the SNK booth had two kiosks with fully playable near-final builds of Metal Slug Anthology for the Wii. It completely rocks. I checked out the options and there are like 6 or 7 different control schemes. You can play with the nunchuck attached using the analog stick (lefty or righty), in this mode you "throw" the Wiimote forward to throw grenades, which is kinda cool because you can hold down the fire button (B) while you chuck so you don't lose your stream of bullets for longer than you have to, it only takes a very slight movement). You can hold the controller sideways, NES style... but in this mode I couldn't figure out how to throw grenades. There are also control scheme options for VC controller and GameCube controller as well.

Well here's something interesting I recently discovered.  In this article at N-Sider from E3 2005 look at what is said at the very end.  Link

Aonuma is asked how many dungeons there will be, to which he replies that he wants to surpass OoT, but that doesn't necessarily mean that they need to surpass the number of dungeons. The content of those dungeons is what is most important.

So this actually shouldn't be to much of a surprise since this is the same thing Aonuma said back in 2005 that the game might end up having the same amount of dungeons as Ocarina of Time.  But as he say this means the quality of the dungeons should be great.

So, how long until Sony fires Ken for losing them billions of dollars and ruining the only market that's making them money?

Actually this one might finally come over here since Mario is in it.  I'd think Nintendo themselves might even publish it here in America.  With Mario in the game Nintendo knows it'll sell well so I'm sure this one will make it.

3937
Dont worry, they'll be a Pikmin 3 down the road.  The series was a success for Nintendo since both games were able to sell over a million copies each worldwide.  So there's no reason for them to stop since the series is a good seller.

Nintendo Gaming / RE: Suda's HEROES First Footage!
« on: September 23, 2006, 10:37:29 PM »
The difference is the first Metal Gear Solid, Half-Life, Resident Evil and Halo all sold in the millions and were popular from the start.  Killer 7 has only sold around 100,000 worldwide with both the Gamecube and PS2 versions combined, and is only known by us gamers here on the internet.  The rest of the gaming world has no idea what the game was.

This is why Hereos is going to have a hard time archieving huge sales since right now it's a game that appeals to a niche market.  Unless Suda can somehow get Nintendo to help with the marketing of the game which I dont see happening, the game has no chance of mass market appeal.

If that story is indeed true then Sony has reached a new level of low.  You'll be forced to spend hundreds of dollars just to unlock most of the content in just one game.

Oh they better not be expecting sales to ACTUALLY hit 1 million or else they're going to be very disapointed.  Even if the gameplay is amazing, this type of game will still only sell to a smaller audience.  Unless they have a huge Multi-million dollar marketing campaign with ads in every type of media, which I dont see happening.

I think a game like this selling around 300,000 copies would be more accurate if it's a success, and alot better then Killer 7 did.

That's not the final box art.  It's just one of those preview display boxes where they take some of the offical artwork and put it on a box.

Oh I want this game more then ever right now.  I've decided that this and Zelda are going to be the two games I buy at launch.  Hopefully if the sales for this game are good enough they'll give us a collection of other SNK arcade games.

Oh so then Wii's in North America will be able to play Japanese games.  But will they be able to download old Japan only games on the Virtual Console from Japan?

« on: September 15, 2006, 11:40:33 AM »
Wait so then this means we wont be able to download Japanese games off the Virtual Console as well then.  That makes no since, why would Nintendo not allow people to download Virtual Console games from anywhere in the world.  It only makes them more money by allowing gamers from the rest of the world to download some of the many games they only released in Japan.

But does this mean if I import a Japanese Wii, I'll be able to download Japanese only games off the Virtual Console.  Because one way or another I'm going to get Fire Emblem Thracia 776 when it appears on the Virtual Console.  Nintendo's not going to keep me from finally getting to play that game.

I'm pretty sure it'll just be the main parts of each game remade, not the entire game.  But just being able to replay some of the area's from the older games with RE4's controls is a dream come true for me.

Nintendo Gaming / RE: Jill Valentine To Return In Resident Evil Wii!?!
« on: September 14, 2006, 07:03:08 AM »
OMG this is the latest info.  This game has definatly jumped up on my most wanted list now.

-The game consists of 4 "chapters", RE1's mansion, RE2's RPD, RE3's city areas and RE4's village (plus surrounding areas).
-Each chapter has 2 characters to choose from. RE1 has Jill and Chris, RE2 has Leon and Claire, RE3 has Jill and Carlos and RE4 has Leon and Ada.
-There are several characters that can be unlocked by playing through the game: Rebecca Chambers, Hunk and Albert Wesker.
-The gameplay of all chapters is designed around RE4's. Press the B trigger on the wiimote to go into over-the-shoulder view, aim with the pointer and press A to fire.
-The game will have QTEs, but rather than push buttons you have to make motions with the wiimote in order to get through them.
-All characters will have mêlée attacks, just like RE4.
-To encourage replayablility, each character has strengths and weaknesses, similar to how in RE4:Mercenaries Ada had the least health, Krauser was the slowest, etc.
-Just like in RE4:Mercenaries each character has a unique set of weapons. What's more players can only carry 2 weapons at any one time. Chris gets a pistol and shotgun whilst Jill gets a pistol and grenade launcher.
-You will be able to find several new weapons during each stage. For example, RE1 will have Richard's shotgun, RE2 will have the Desert Eagle, RE4 will have the Chicago Typewriter. There will also be new weapons like Krauser's anti-personnel robots.
-Similar to Devil May Cry 3, after each chapter you can save your data and any new weapons picked up will be available for use in Arcade Mode.
-Arcade Mode is like a giant Mercenaries minigame, where you pick a character and stage and blast through it. Building on the resounding success of Mercenaries seen when RE4 was released.
-Scenario mode will feature a large number of ingame cutscenes.
-New content not in the games that the chapters were based on will be added. The primary goal of this will be to link RE4 and Umbrella's status in it more closely with the rest of the series.
-Ammo conservation will play a part in the gameplay, so it's not just constant action like RE4.
-Trailer coming at TGS.

The Zelda footage was freakin sweet.  Plus the Resident Evil footage shows the mansion from REmake.  And the recent info on Resident Evil Wii has said it will play similar to RE4, meaning we should be able to play in the mansion of REmake with the controls of RE4.  Along with area's from RE2, RE3 and Code Veronica with RE4 controls as well.

There really must be a God because my dream just came true.

Nintendo Gaming / RE: From Seattle Post-Intelligencer: $250 on Nov. 19
« on: September 14, 2006, 06:45:01 AM »
Even though I agree that the system being $250 and the controller $60.  It's still much cheaper then what you have to pay for the competition.  I dont see this really hurting Nintendo to much since the average person will walk into the store and see

Wii - $250
360 - $400
PS3 - $600

This is a big difference then the last gen where it was just

Gamecube - $200
PS2 - $300
XBox - $300

I get the feeling Resident Evil for the Wii is going to be one of those crappy Gun Survivor games.  Consider how Capcom loves to make stupid decisions, I wouldn't be surprised if it does end up being one.
