Nintendo Gaming / RE: Next Wii shipment??
« on: November 21, 2006, 09:06:00 AM »
I went to Best Buy last night and they said they expected the next shipment to come today, but I went there today and they said that it wont arrive now until Sunday now.

It seems very unlikey that I'll be getting ahold of a Wii this week.

Nintendo Gaming / RE: Gamespot Zelda Review
« on: November 20, 2006, 09:22:25 AM »
I'm surprised people even look at Gamespot for there reviews at all.  Gamespot proves that there site was a complete joke when they gave Mario Kart 64 a 6.4, and that was almost 10 years ago.  Now Mario Kart 64 is considered a classic and one of the funnest racing games ever made, which shows how Gamespots review had no effect on anyone.

Just ignore Gamespot since they've been pulling this sh!t since pretty much their beginning and all this does is gives there horribly made and poorly designed site way more attention then it deserves.  To me Gamespot is the online equivelent to Gamepro.  Both places have more ads then games and any coverage they do on games is very poor and inaccurate at best.

Well it's nice to see I wasn't the only one who was unlucky.

I arrived at the local Best Buy a few minutes before it opened and to my surprise there was a huge line that stretched around the entire store.  Then I went to the Toys R Us that was nearby and they were sold out, the Walmart and Shopko were also sold out.  I then drove to the Shopko on the other end of the city and they were sold out, so was the Walmart on that end.

I then drove the next Walmart that was over 30 miles away since it was located in a town of only four thousand I thought I might be able to find one there, but I was wrong.  Then I drove back to the city I realised that I didn't try the K-mart, and thought who goes to K-mart anymore.  Well the lucky people that now own a Wii that's who and so K-mart was also sold out and with that every single store in my area is now sold out.

So now I'm spending my time playing Wind Waker to get my Zelda fix until I finally get my hands on Twilight Princess.  Hopefully I'll be able to arrive early enough for the second shipment whenever it arrives.

I'm surprised no one has posted this review yet, it's the best review so far.

Gamerz Edge Twilight Princess review

I love what he says at the end, probobly the smartest thing I've heard a reviewer say in a long time.

Quote

The Legend of Zelda: Twilight Princess is a very rare experience. It’s a game where all of the pieces seem to fall into place in just the way necessary to create so seamless, so addictive, so unique an experience that it just feels right from start to finish. Apart from the classic Zelda action, of which there is plenty—more than ever before—in the game, Twilight Princess introduces some truly innovative gameplay elements and improves upon existing ones with an uncommon level of polish and attention. The game is simply overflowing with creativity; with its brilliantly-designed dungeons, legendary boss battles, engaging storyline, and rich cast of characters, it easily surpasses nearly every other game in its genre.

That said, some people are concerned primarily about its contentious graphical presentation; the sometimes-blurry textures. Do they hurt the overall appearance of the game? Yes. Perhaps the most important question, however, is whether they hurt the game enough to place it below the status of other “ten out of ten” legendary games. Here, the answer is a resounding “no.” The Legend of Zelda: Twilight Princess is one of the greatest videogames ever created. It isn’t perfect—no game can make that claim—however, Twilight Princess is head and shoulders above nearly every other game I have ever played. It’s indubitably better than Ocarina of Time. It blows away The Wind Waker. And it has a sense of personality and careful balance that instill the player with a serious drive to complete it—something that many other very long adventure games, such as Oblivion, lack.

This is the first game that I have ever awarded a 10 in my six years as a reviewer, and for good reason. The Legend of Zelda: Twilight Princess is one of the defining videogames of our time. It is unquestionably one of the finest games ever released, and it is one that any gamer should experience regardless of the circumstances.

You can use the Ocarina to play that one song to jump ahead 12 hours, it only take about a minute to get yourself to the third day so it doesn't take long to get to any time of the day.

Plus fighting Goht as Goron Link is the greatest Zelda boss fight ever.

The problem is it's pretty much impossible for any game to rise above Ocarina of Time on Gamerankings since back in Ocarina of Times day it was so revolutionary and there was no other game to compare it to, it easily got perfect scores across the board.  With Twilight Princess, everyones seen this type of game before and so there's something to compare it to which allows reviewers to be alot more harsh with this game then they were to Ocarina of Time.

It's the same reason why Majora's Mask got lower scores then Ocarina of Time.  Even though Majora's Mask was a much better game, since everyone had already played Ocarina of Time they had something to compare it to and so critics were alot more harsh on Majora's Mask.

I really dont see a reason to get that angry with the guy since did anyone else even read this part.

The visuals are great, but aren't the best. To be blunt, if the game was strictly for GCN or for Wii, and was only developed solely for one or the other, I could see this being a perfect title. It's damn close, but it is not perfect, but it is the best Zelda title ever.

He says it's the greatest Zelda game ever made, shouldn't that make everyone happy.  If his reason for not giving it a perfect score was because of graphics then who cares, the guys a graphics whore then, but for the rest of us that dont care about the graphics this means the game is a perfect 10/10.

I just visited Gamefaqs and damn, it's like a warzone with spoilers on all the different boards.  I've heard from other sources that other websites are the same way.  It seems someone who got an early copy of Twilight Princess forget that they're not allowed to say anything about what happens after the second dungeon and they've revealed a very major spoiler that's all over now.

Even though I'm not bothered too much by spoilers I know a lot of people are and so I'm trying to warn anyone that checks a lot of message boards that a very major spoiler is out right now.  So be very carefull.

Nintendo Gaming / RE: Wii Excitement !!!

I'm so excited I've pretty much stopped living.  I just sit around playing Smash Bros Melee in my apartment all day.  On Saturday I'll be entering a Smash Bros tournament where the winner will be given a free Wii right at midnight when the first systems are released.  Looks like my years of playing Smash Bros might finally pay off.

Of course I'm looking forward more to the Team Tournament that will be taking place on Friday night.  Me and one of my old friends from high school will be in it and since both of us are really good players and have always been at the same skill level we should be nearly unstoppable.

I hope this means we'll see Dragon Ball Z: Hyper Dimension on the Virtual Console.  Unlike 98% of the the other Dragon Ball Z fighters, this one was actually really good and being able to play it with the classic controller instead of my crappy keyboard would be great since I'd be able to finally pull off most of the moves.

It already has.  In Japan, no PSP game has even hit 1 million and I think worldwide only Grand Theft Auto on the PSP has sold over 1 million.

Wow, I haven't been subscribed to Nintendo Power in 3 years but this offer is just way to good.  Since most videogame CD's are released only in Japan it ends up costing me 20 dollars just to buy them from import websites so this is an amazing deal.

Plus for the Players Guide even though I wont use it for the game, I love looking at the offical artwork that appears in them.

The Smash Bros tournaments are very flawed in how they're done.  Smash Bros is ment to be played with the items ON and on all the different stages.  Of course if a game is played on Final Destination with the items off, the characters like Marth and Fox are going to dominate.

But I'd like to see how well those Marth players would do playing on Big Blue when their opponet has a Beam Saber, now things are looking more balanced.

This is what makes me angry, just because people found Wind Waker not up to par they think Twilight Princess will suffer the same fate.  Come on people, Wind Waker was just ONE game in the Zelda series.  You could at least have some more faith in Nintendo then that.

This isn't like Sega who's messed up nearly every Sonic game in the last ten years where we all now the next Sonic is going to suck just because Sega has a history of doing that.

On the part about new characters being shown, the way it sounds to me is it'll just be the returning ones like Fox, Donkey Kong, Yoshi etc.  Since those characters weren't shown in the E3 trailer they would technically be new characters since we haven't seen what they'd be like in the game yet.

Of course if we do see a completly new character, it's going to be Sonic.  I remember Miyamoto saying in an interview that Sonic was the most requested character and you know the impact that showing Sonic would have.  Plus what better way to create huge hype for the Wii before launch then telling people that Sonic WILL be in the next Smash Bros.

A new trailer is to be revealed very soon.

Link

Here's the description of what will be in the trailer

Quote

Starts out with some Twilight Creatures in some sort of dark castle (Hyrule Castle?)
Goes to Cowboy Link, Epona, Colin and a couple of unidentified people. One has a sword. Epona's loaded up with wood for some reason or another. Colin goes with the man with the sword over a rope bridge, while Link (in his cowboy outfit) smiles at him.

Next up is the transformation sequence. Cowboy Link is walking through a path, when suddenly it turns into the Twilight Realm. He transforms into a Wolf, and is dragged away. We see Midna, and next wee some gameplay of Wolf Link and Midna attacking some Twilight Creatures. There's more gameplay, nothing particularily new but a town scene is shown with about 20 people in it, very impressive. Also, Link canoes down a rushing river, now in his classic outfit.

Few quick cuts of cutscenes, showing (among others) PRINCESS ZELDA! Zelda is casting some sort of elaborate spell, very pretty effects.

The trailer ends with Link pulling out the Master Sword and holding it up. The sword is quite a bit longer than any other game.

The greatest game of all time is Super Smash Bros Brawl.  It's greatness has already transended time and space which is why I can say this right now, a year before it's even released.
