Nintendo Gaming / RE: So is Zelda:TP GC in short supply?

I just bought the Gamecube version at Best Buy and there were quite a few other copies so the short supply rumors are false.

So DBZ:BT2 does contain the original Japanese voice work.  Well this game is a definate buy for me now, of course I'm still going to wait for a price drop.

I personally can't stand Goku or Gohan's Japanese Voice Acting. Its obvious that they are voiced by women.

I think it depends on what was the first voice people heard Goku with.  I notice alot of people who first saw DBZ through the dub where Goku had a manly voice can't stand his original Japanese voice.  But for people like me who heard Goku's original voice before ever seeing the dub, Masako Nozawa IS Goku.  She's done his voice from the very begining back when Dragon Ball first air back in 1986 and has matched Goku and his personality perfectly.

To listen to Goku without her voice to me would be like listening to Homer without Dan Castellaneta voicing him, it just doesn't sound right.

I've been to several fighting boards and all I ever hear is them talking about how both Smash Bros are very shallow and how they'd rather play Street Fighter and King of Fighters anyday.

But I agree the online Smash community is pretty bad.  Oh God, the Smash Bros board on Gamefaqs and SmashBoards hurt my head just reading the topic titles.  I mean I've seen stupidity, but those places take it to a whole new level.

I haven't played it but from what I've heard the fighting engine is pretty mediocre.  But if you and your friends are DBZ fans it's supposed to be pretty fun for parties.  So the only reason I see for anyone to buy it would be if they're a huge DBZ fan, and even then, wait until the price drops.

Games like this aren't worth buying at full price unless they actually have a good fighting engine to go with it.

Yeah, the hardcore fighting crowd is probobly the only group of gamers I've seen that really hate Smash Bros, both the original and Melee.  Now I've seen a few people that dislike it but it seems like the fighting fans have a deep hatred for the series.

I think it comes down to this sense of elitism where because they know how to do all these 30 button moves to create big 1000 hit combos, they view Smash Bros as a joke because of it's simplistic system.

Considering Melee outsold the original by a good margin, they wont be going backwards anytime soon.  Plus I dont see the how the orginal was better for people of all skill level, I beat my friends worse in the original then Melee.  I found Melee made the game alot better for people of all skill levels thanks to a much better defense system.  In the original if I was coming at them there was no escape, but in Melee they could actually dodge to find ways to get away from me, which sometimes allowed them to even set up counters.

I guess it depends on what everyones situation is like but for me, I saw Melee because of it's more advanced engine allowing people who sucked at the original, to become much better and allowed them to actually keep up with me and the other advanced players in the group.

Well Megaman is the most deserving of all third party characters, since he's had the longest history with Nintendo with around 90% of all his games appearing on Nintendo systems.  And with the amount of Megaman games out there, that's ALOT.

But the thing that hurts him is these days, the classic Megaman series is pretty niche with only a small fanbase left over.  The only Megaman series that's popular these days is the EXE series, which I'm not a big fan of.  But chances are we wont be seeing any Megaman related character at all.

All signs so far are pointing to a Square-Enix character appearing in the game.  With the five Final Fantasy characters appear in Mario Hoops and the Mario + Dragon Quest party game, plus all the DS exclusives being annouced, Nintendo and Square-Enix have a very close relationship right now.  And with them already putting each others characters in there games it seems all but certion that a Square-Enix character will be in the next Smash Bros.

Mark my words, the third party line-up will be Snake, Sonic and Square-Enix character.  All that's left for us to debate now is which Square-Enix character will be in, remembering that the character has to have appeared on a Nintendo system.

(Which gets rid of characters like Cloud and Tidus, THANK GOD)

We already have an Offical Smash Bros Brawl topic and it was recently brought back to life.  Not to mention it's ALOT more up to date then this topic is.

Actually Zelda is the "it" game right now for the Wii since Ocarina of Time was one of the "it" games for the N64.  Every single person I've heard talk about the Wii has been about Zelda.  Alot of these people loved Ocarina of Time but didn't care for Majora Mask or Wind Waker.  Most of the public has been viewing Twilight Princess as Ocarina of Time 2, which I consider makes Twilight Princess an "it" game right now.

I agree, I played the game on an emulater a few years ago and it was pretty good.  Of course playing the game on the keyboard was a nightmare and it became impossible to beat the later opponets but if I was to play it on a console with an SNES controller things would have gone much better.

Actually even to this day Gundam Wing: Endless Duel and Dragon Ball Z: Hyper Dimension are still probobly the best anime based fighting games ever made.

Not really since it was thrown in last minute and some third parties that were developing for the PS3 were suprise at E3 when Sony announced the Tilt function because they hadn't even been told yet.

I wonder which game sold more in Japan, Zelda or Wario Ware.  Or will this be like Mario 64 DS and Wario Ware Touched where they're both selling the same amount after launch.

Well the DS vs PSP battle was pretty much decided in a few weeks in Japan.  Even though there was those several weeks in early 2005 where the PSP was outselling the DS by a little bit, the DS gained such a huge lead in December of 2004 that those weeks meant nothing.  And then when Nintendogs was released in April the DS took off and the battle was over.

Isn't there a Brain Training game that's supposed to come out sometime next year in Japan as well.  I think if they were to release one within the first half it'd have the same results that Nintendogs did in pretty much sealing the deal.

Unless Square-Enix would suddenly come out and announce Dragon Quest IX is going to be released on the PS3 sometime next year, I think Japan will be pretty safe for Nintendo.  Of course America and Europe are going to be were the real battle lies so I'm not making any predictions about those two places until after seeing the sales for all the console after holiday 2007, which will be the deciding factor on which console wins worldwide.

I think it's safe to say Nintendo has retaken the Japanese home console market.  In Japan the winning console has always dominated over it's competition.  And right now the Wii has already outsold the PS3 by 4X the amount, and has Zelda and Wario Ware which are both very popular.  And in two weeks they'll be releasing Pokemon: Battle Revolution which will definatly be riding on the success that Diamond/Pearl have had.  Plus in early 2007, Dragon Quest Swords, Fire Emblem and Mario Party 8 are scheduled to come out.  All three titles are popular and should bring in great sales as well.

Even if Sony starts getting more shipments in they have no games that are going to make Japanese gamers go out in droves to buy it, while the Wii will have 6 titles that are very popular and plenty of third party games that should do well to.

I agree, I mean they brought Chibi Robo over to the US and that seems way more wacky then Kururin so maybe they'll finally bring it here.  Of course they still refuse to release any of the Stafi games over here so I'm not going to get my hopes up.

Probobly, since there's supposed to be 400,000 Wii's at launch.  Of course I can't wait to see the top 10, since it's going to be all Nintendo.  Actually every top 10 for the next several months are going to be all Nintendo since PS3 shipments are still going to be very low and the PSP is no where to be seen.

Well I expect a PS2 game to appear everyonce in a while, and then drop off a week later.

Nothing worries me more than NIntendo fans who want to see Nintendo drastically change the franchises that made them great because of "innovation". Like I stated before some of Nintendo's best games were extensions of previous formulas with small doses of innovation, whether it be Link to the Past, Super Mario Bros 3, SMW, or Super Metroid.

I agree with this completly.  The thing that I never got is how people could say they didn't like Mario Sunshine because it was too similar to Mario 64, yet alot of these same people would say their favorite Mario game is Super Mario World.  This makes no damn since, since there's way more difference between Mario 64 and Mario Sunshine then there was between Super Mario Bros 3 and Super Mario World.

Has EA ever made anything of quality?  I've always viewed EA as the company that releases the same mediocre sports and license based games ever year.  Was there ever a time they had anything other then that because I've never seen it.

I for one played Wario Ware on DS, and didn't like it. ^^;

That's probobly because you played Touched which is the worst one.  Go and play the original and Twisted for the GBA.  Those are the ones someone should play to really get into the series.

Seeing the video with the Nintendo games makes me want Wario Ware more then Zelda right now.  Well by the time I have enough money to buy a Wii this game should be out and then I can just buy both at the same time.

Well I guess I shouldn't have a problem finding a Wii now, a certion situation has happend and now I'm broke all over again so I now have no money for a Wii.  Well it should take me about 3 weeks to save up enough again, so have fun everyone who's lucky enough to find a Wii now.

At least by the time I get enough money hopefully they'll be enough Wii in stores by then.

Unless your local Gamestop is a single store located away from other big name stores then your out of luck.  Once 6 A.M roles around on Friday it's like a human tsunami and everything will be taken within minutes.

I remember when I was a kid and my Mom took me with as she went shopping on Black Friday once.  My God, I still remember how crazy everything was even to this day.  It's like people just loose their minds and become complete animals.

Nintendo Gaming / RE: Famitsu's massive review list primarily Wii edition
« on: November 21, 2006, 11:00:09 AM »
I wouldn't put to much stock in what Famitsu says, they're one of the most inconsistent reviewers there is.

Plus I love how Twilight Princess gets deducted points for being too hard, now I know that Twilight Princess is going to be the greatest Zelda ever made.  Ocarina of Time and Wind Waker were the two easiest Zelda ever made with no real challenge to either of them, yet Famitsu gave them both perfect scores.

This is why I hate Famitsu because they suck at games and will deduct games points for offering any type of challenge at all.  So seeing that Twilight Princess does indeed offer a challenge that's too hard for the craptacular reviewers at Famitsu does makes me very happy.
