Well considering Sony has done all they can to try and kill 2d gaming over the last ten years of course Little Big Planet will bomb bigtime.  Sony has made it that their consoles are all about 3d with 2d games as silenced as possible and so all of their fans who started gaming with the Playstation have only known 3d and dont care about 2d and probobly never will.  So now Sony thinks that the people they grew to hate 2d are going to spend over $600, on a 2d game?  Yeah, good luck with that Sony.

Little Big Planet will be lucky if it even find a way to hit 100,000 WORLDWIDE.

Plus there's the fact that worldwide Twilight Princess has sold over 2 million copies.  In America and Europe 2/3 of all Wii owners own the damn game.  At the rate it's going it's looking to be one of the top selling Zelda's of all time.  Actually when you compare it's attachment rate right now and how it's selling there's a good chance Twilight Princess will top Ocarina of Times sales and become the best selling Zelda of all time by the end of the Wii's lifespan.

Just because non games sell better in Japan then Zelda doesn't mean a thing.  Japanese companies like all world companies only care about money.  And when there gamer games put up huge numbers in America and Europe, that's all they need.  They're not going to throw all that away because of Japan when they still have a gold mine in the rest of the world.

We can't, we NEED Smash Bros.  It's a religion for alot of us that will never be stopped.  I go to the park every night and sacrifice 10 joggers to the great Master Hand.  He then comes down from the sky and touches me with his fingers of truth to fill me with light.

I think it should be clear to most people now that anything SNK says is not to be trusted.  Which is quite sad when you consider that Sony treated them like crap for the last several years and here you have Nintendo welcoming them with open arms and allowing them to release anything on their console.  Hell, they're even allowing them to put the Neo Geo on the Virtual Console.

And how does SNK repay Nintendo for their kindness, by stabbing them in the back to cover their own ass because they're too damn lazy to impliment Classic Controls or Online in their games.  You think since Nintendo is the only company that will allow 2d games on their system, SNK would be a little more grateful.

And dont say Microsoft because 2d games are only allowed on X-Box Live this gen because Microsoft like Sony views 2d as an inferior format and they only want realistic 3d games with HD graphics to show off their systems power.

This guy is nothing more then a hypocrite.  If you read about his rant on this link read this quote.

Quote

Chris Hecker was given a chance to speak on the developers' behalf during the session. His complaints in previous rants had been directed at Microsoft and Sony for making multi-core monsters that tout graphics over smart game design. This time, Hecker had a little something to say about everyone's favorite console.

So he has a problem with Microsoft and Sony focusing on power over games, but now he has a problem with Nintendo focusing on games over power.  So what exactly does he want then?

If there's going to be any transforming Zelda characters it should be a Ganondorf/Ganon combo.  Of course we've already discussed Ganon last summer so I wont go into to much detail except

-Ganon must have his Link to the Past design (I've always hated the way he looked in Ocarina of Time and I hate his Twilight Princess wild boar design as well)

- Needs to be holding one badass trident

- FIREBATS, LOTS OF MUTHAF*CKING FIREBATS!!!

I wouldn't listen to a damn thing SNK says because they'll say anything to blame Nintendo for their own lazyness.  They're the ones who said that Metal Slug didn't support the Classic Controller because Nintendo didn't allow it.  But that was complete bullsh!t since Dragon Ball Z for the Wii used the Classic Controller and came out a month before Metal Slug.  So now SNK is saying Nintendo isn't allowing third parties to have online, just like they said Nintendo wasn't allowing anyone to use the Classic Controller.

So don't take anything SNK says seriously because they have no credibility and are proven lairs already.

Nintendo Gaming / RE: How popular is Fire Emblem around the world?
« on: March 03, 2007, 11:15:02 PM »
Here's the Japanese sales of all the Fire Emblem games going back to the third one, Mystery of the Emblem for the Super Famicom

FE3: Mystery of the Emblem - 697,750
FE4: Genealogy of a Holy War - 578,000
FE5: Thracia 776 - 257,500
FE6: Sword of Seals - 393,000
FE7: Blazing Sword - 293,500
FE8: Sacred Stones - 298,000
FE9: Path of Radiance - 155,750

And even though I don't have the exact numbers, all the Fire Emblems that have come to America have OUTSOLD their Japanese counterparts.  That's right, the Fire Emblem series has been more popular here in America over the last several years then in Japan.  The American version of FE7 sold around 400,000, I think I saw FE8 around 300,000 and FE9 last time I checked sold over 160,000.  Now when you combine the sales of the American and Japanese version of all these games the worldwide numbers would be like this.

FE7: Blazing Sword - 700,000
FE8: Sacred Stones - 600,000
FE9: Path of Radiance - 300,000

So to answer the question of why Nintendo is bothering to translate the series, it's because they're making alot more money with both the English and Japanese version then they would with just leaving the series Japan only.

I agree, we need a Wario Ware character in the game.  I'd prefer Jimmy though because that way we'd get a disco stage with some funk in the background.

In an interview from Tips and Tricks Magazine last summer, Miyamoto stated that Sonic is the most requested character.  Plus there's the fact that Sakurai says there will be 1-2 more third party characters.  That 1 character will be Sonic, will the 2 in that statement will be who ever pays Nintendo the most to get what ever character that want in.  Most likely a Square-Enix character because of the five Final Fantasy character in Mario Hoops and the Mario and Dragon Quest Party game.

Plus there's the whole issue of Sega working with Nintendo with the Genesis games on the Virtual Console, so there is a close relationship.  And Sonic WAS originally planned on being in Mario Kart: Double Dash, but never got to be in because Sega had a problem with Sonic driving a Kart, even though they had him driving a Kart in that one mode in Sonic Adventure 2

So it's pretty obvious that Nintendo wants Sonic in the game and so the chances are pretty much 100% that he'll be in.  If he's not in it'll be because Sega didn't allow him to be in and that would make Sega the dumbest company in the history of the world.  Considering Smash Bros Brawl is going to sell anywhere between 5-10 million copies, which is more then any Sonic game ever has and ever will.

Nintendo Gaming / RE: Official Wii Sales Thread

People are going to have to wait until next weeks sales before really saying anything about Fire Emblem.  FE9 for the Gamecube only sold around 150,000 total in Japan because it came out when the Gamecube was dead in 2005.  Since the Wii is selling very well in Japan right now, there's a good chance Fire Emblem will have some legs.

Plus you have to remember the best selling Fire Emblems were FE3 and FE4 back in the Super Famicom days and these were their lifetime totals.

Fire Emblem: Mystery of the Emblem - 697,750
Fire Emblem: Geneology of a Holy War - 578,000

As you can see the series while popular was never putting up numbers in the millions.  It's always been more of a hardcore audience thing, so really all a Fire Emblem needs to do is sell a few hundred thousand and Nintendo will be happy with that.

Have you forgotten about Smash Bros Melee?  That game defined the Gamecube just as much as Halo defined the X-Box.  The game sold over 6.5 million copies worldwide and considering the Gamecube sold around 20 million units, that means 1/3 of all Gamecube owners own Smash Bros.  You can't get any more defining then that.

General Gaming / RE: Looks like Capcom still hates money.
« on: February 25, 2007, 11:57:10 AM »
The statistics are they bombed horribly.  It's hard to find the exact number because most of Capcom's PSP games have sold so badly they dont even appear on the charts.  The only Capcom game that's done well on the PSP is Monster Hunter, and I've heard the sequel Monster Hunter 2 has done really well it's first week too now in Japan.

Everything else though has been a miserable failure.  Which is why Capcom's decision to give more support to the PSP over the DS just defies logic.  Which is the exact reason I named this topic, "Looks like Capcom still hates money."

Well, back to the subject of Ninja Turtles I can now say the chances are very good we will see all of Konami's old Turtle games appearing on the Virtual Console.

Here's why

If Konami is able to put the arcade games on Xbox Live, then this means they should have no problem putting all the console games on the Virtual Console.  When The Manhattan Project appears I'll be very happy since that's easily my favorite Turtles game.  I think because they developed it exclusively for the NES, instead of porting it from the arcade like the rest is the reason it ended up the best of the console Turtle games.

Damn that was pretty sweet.  I have to remember to finish Trail of the Blue Flame (Path of Radience) one of these days.  I imported it right when it was released in Japan back in the summer of 2005 then got over half-way through it, but then I stopped for some reason and haven't played it since.

Oh wait now I remember, I stopped when my imported copy of Dance Dance Revolution with Mario arrived, then I bought a DS because it had that sale where you could buy the Blue DS and get Mario 64 DS for free.

I'd like the bosses in an Adventure Mode to be based on diffuculty.  Like if you pick Very Easy then the boss for the Kirby stage will be Waddle Dee who gets defeated in 3 hits.  But if you choose Very Hard then you'll be taking on the Nightmare who has 999% and you can only harm him when his cape is up just like in Kirby's Adventure.

Yeah, it was Sega's answer to Donkey Kong Country, but not a very good one.  Now Vectorman is the perfect example of a mediocre game selling only because of good graphics.  The Donkey Kong Country games had some elements that at least made them good.  I cant say the same for Vectorman.

The reason the DS numbers are so low is because there's a shortage WORLDWIDE!  The DS is doing so well in North America, Europe and of course Japan, Nintendo is having a hard time getting enough units out to all three regions fast enough to meet demand.

Also here's something interesting to look at, here's the NPD software total for the Wii and PS3 for people to compare.

As anyone can see, the Wii is owning the PS3 hard in both hardware and software.  And when you take into account it cost third parties MUCH less to develop for the Wii and alot of their games sold just as good or even better on the Wii, third parties should be very happy with their Wii sales.

Any third party that decides to give more support to the PS3 over the Wii after this is a complete moron.

Wait a second, your all talking about the Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles games but not one of you has brought up the fact that the original for the NES has also been looked over by the ESRB and will be added soon.

It was in Kairons link Latest ESRB ratings!

I'm surprised no one else seemed to notice this.  This means the chances are good we'll see other companies like Capcoms license based games as well.

And hey, the original Turtle game for the NES was a pretty good game.  Back when I was a kid that was one of the few NES game I had, so I played it alot.  I'd probobly say it was my second most played game for my first year of owning an NES when I was 6 or so.  Second only to the original Super Mario Bros.

I'd reccomend it for any Turtle fan, but be careful.  It has alot of the unfair 8-bit era difficulty.

If bad voice acting is the biggest complaint then it sounds like this game might actually turn out great.  Plus it's been confirmed that the game has the option to play the game in Japanese with subtitles.  Which pretty much makes the bad voice work an invalid complaint since you can switch to the Japanese voices which are ACTUALLY GOOD.

Junichi Kanemaru IS Sonic.  His voice has fit Sonic perfectly since the original Sonic Adventure.  Plus all the crazy engrish he uses made it a blast to play as Sonic, which is another reason why the Sonic levels in both Adventure games are the only parts of the 3d Sonic's I actually enjoyed.
