If there's enough new content added like new area's and new bosses then I would.  Since Jungle Beat Wii is suppose to be adding new levels, I'd hope they do the same for both Prime games.

Matt goes on about Kid Icarus again.

You know, if the game is really in actual development Nintendo should cancel it just to troll IGN.

I still stand by my belief that Yuji Naka and Sega of Japan ruined Sonic after that Sonic X-Treme tragedy.

Actually that's a well known fact.  That incident showed that the higher ups at Sega didn't give a sh!t about Sonic since he was never popular in Japan.  Which is why Sega has never allowed Sonic Team to have enough time to properly even finish developement of a 3d Sonic, and that's why every single 3d Sonic game was a rushed, buggy mess.

Now some of these messes were better then others, but when the best 3d Sonic game is only mediocre, that says something about how poor the quality of the series is.

Oh well, now we wait until Black Knight comes out and the Sonic Cycle starts to move again.  Of course in Black Knights case everyone started hating on it when it was first show and then started liking the idea when more info came out.  In the other cases like Unleashed, people like the game right away and then start hating when more info comes out.  Does this mean the Cycle has been broken?

Probably not but right now we can still hope at least.  :(

Well, the redesign didn't have large enough ears to fly so maybe they'd cut that...

Not if his boots are Rocket Boots. :o

Rocket Boots would make him even more extreme. 8)

Then again I wonder if crappy shovelware really sells better on the Wii than other consoles...

It doesn't, the whole shovelware sells on the Wii and only the Wii is a myth started by the usual idiots in the gaming media who are the same ones that say Nintendo is trying to destroy hardcore gaming.

The ratio of good to bad games selling is about the same on all 3 systems, it's just the videogame media doesn't report on them, because the bad games on the 360/PS3 that sell are usually games like shooters, while on the Wii the bad games are things like mini game collections.  So when a crappy Halo clone or GTA clone sells well on the 360, nobody cares.  But when a crappy Wii Sports clone sells well, everyone goes crazy and starts writing articles about how the Wii is destroying gaming.

As long as we get the game I'll be happy.  Namco is one of the worst companies when it comes to localizing games, and if messing with Klonoa's design is what it takes for it to come over then I'm for it.  As long as that's all they change and not the actual gameplay itself.

But hasn't the 360 actually been out for three years?

Yep, the 360 was released in Japan back in November 2005 about the same time as the American launch.  Which goes to show just how pathetic Microsoft's presence in the Japanese market has been.

A fascinating story. Will you be able to help Nyx discover what happened to her friend Icarus?

See everyone, Matt was right about an Icarus game in development for Wii. :D

One question to CV fanatics...is Maria Renard supposed to be a loli? I've seen artwork of her, including some Chibi ones and don't know which one is supposed to be canon.

Well she was a young girl in Rondo of Blood, but the difference is she was a nice and sweet young girl.  The loli they're using in Judgement now is anything but nice and sweet.

Like I said, the Mario in Judgement is Maria in name only.  Her personality is completely different from anything in any of the cannon storylines.

Wii owners...buying Nintendo games.  Who'da thunk?

Well when most of the best games on the system are made by Nintendo, that's why.  It's the same reason why Nintendo games sold the best on the N64 and Gamecube as well as the DS.

The only time a third party released a major quality title with mass market appeal on a Nintendo console that rivaled Nintendo's best in the last 10 years was Capcom with Resident Evil 4 and guess what, it was the best selling Gamecube game in 2005.  Not to mention the port of it for the Wii has sold around 1.4 million copies which is the same as the 360 version of Dead Rising and just 100,000 less then Lost Planet.

The funny thing is though both Dead Rising and Lost Planet got huge advertising campaigns while Resident Evil 4 Wii didn't.  And yet, just as many people bought RE4 Wii on the Wii, as 360 owner bought DR and LP.

If more third party released games of RE4's quality and they'd bother to market them, they'd be rewarded with sales just as good, if not better.

I don't know, I thought the series finale ended everything perfectly.  What made the show great was the storyline and character development.  Since the last episode tied everything up in a nice way, I don't see where they go from here.

Plus since it's been quite a few years since the show ended, the quality won't be anywhere near as good.  Even if they get all the right people back, it doesn't mean they'll be able to recapture the chemistry that made things great.  This is why all TV series, even if they don't get canceled become shadows of their former selves after so many years.

If you hate the english voice acting there is an option for Japanese voice acting.

Oh thank God.  Norio Wakamoto as Dracula and Ryotaro Okiayu as Alucard FTW!!!

it's "I want to punch Maria's voice actress in the face" bad.

Great, so not only did they have to make Maria look just like Misa, she now acts just like her as well.  I wonder if IGA is one of the five Misa fans that exist in the world then.

According to all the reviews the game is Sonic Adventure 2 all over again.  The Sonic levels ended up good, while the non Sonic levels, not so much.  And according to the reviews you end up playing more of the game as the mediocre Werehog because of how slow the levels move, then the actual Sonic levels which turned out good.  Just like in Sonic Adventure 2 when you ended up spending more time in Knuckles and Tails boring stages, then Sonics stages which were actually fun.

Nice to see this part of Sonic Team hasn't learned anything in the last 8 years.  Oh well, at least the part of Sonic Team that's making Black Knight seems to be on the right track since they made Secret Rings, and if they just fix that games biggest flaws, we could have an actual Sonic game that's 100% Sonic style great.  Instead of something that's only 40% great, and the other 60% is meh to horrible, or Shadow and Sonic 2006 which were 100% trash that could be considered warcrimes under international law.

2941
Well the reviews so far make the game sound like it turned out decent.  I'll probably buy it then when it drops to $20 sometime next year.

Of course the music to the game should be uploaded on Youtube sometime this week so that's something I'm looking forward too.  The thing I've wanted to know the most about this game is what tracks made it in and how they were remixed.

General Chat / Re: Quantum of Solace
« on: November 15, 2008, 08:32:38 PM »
Yeah I liked the movie as well.  The entire movie was pretty much an action packed ending to Casino Royale, which I thought fit well.  Now if the next Bond film focuses on just action instead of plot like this one, it'll be disappointed.  Quantum of Solace is the only time I'd allow this to pass since it was finishing up Casino Royale which did a great job with it's plot.

If I had to rank this, I'd put it somewhere in the middle of the Bond series.  The movie was flawed, but it had enough good moments to still be quite enjoyable.  Even though it doesn't compare to the best Bond films, it certainly is much better then the worst Bond films.

Monster Hunter 3 is the first high profile game that a publisher flat-out chose to develop for the Wii and on top of that, it actually looks like Capcom gives a sh*t because it doesn't like like a 3DO game and they aren't toning down for casual gamers. That's why it matters. When MH3 rapes everything in its path in Japan, 3rd parties should finally wake up and realize that all they have to do is care and anything will sell on the Wii.

This is one of the reasons why I wouldn't doubt it if Nintendo teams up with Capcom to release a special Monster Hunter Wii bundle for the games release.

On the issue of Wii Music, Miyamoto said in an interview after the Japan release that they're expecting Wii Music to be a harder sell then the other Wii (Insert Name) titles and that they believe it'll take awhile for the game to catch on through word of mouth.

So we'll have to wait a few months to really judge if Wii Music is a success for Nintendo or not.

2946
I don't like that they're just modifying it. Why not a whole new game?

Because a new game would take up a lot more time and money.  Not to mention EAD Tokyo is probably very busy on whatever their new project is right now, and doesn't have time to create a full fledged sequel.

This Wii version of Jungle Beat is more then likely being handled by EAD 4, since they seem to be the Mario port team.  They did all the Mario Advanced ports as well as the Mario 64 DS remake.  Since Jungle Beat was made by the old Mario team, it only makes since that EAD 4 would get to do another one of their games.  Not to mention the last Wii game EAD 4 released was Big Brain Academy in early 2007, so it'd make since if this ends up being what they've been working on for the last year as well as the other Gamecube ports.

The way things are looking right now, I'm expecting Jungle Beat Wii to end up like Mario 64 DS.  Where the end result is still great and the new content justifies a purchase, but the new controls just can't match the greatness of the original ones.

Third parties that support irrelevant portions of the market are irrelevant until further notice.

yeah.

This is pretty much it.  Even though a lot of third parties are losing their shirts because of high PS3/360 development cost, their solution is to just keep throwing more money into the hole.

This gen is pretty much becoming the Darwin's Theory of the videogame industry.  Companies will have to evolve in order to survive while the ones that refuse to change will go extinct.

Lets see xbox fans mildly cared about PD Zero

That's because it was a Shooting game.  Anything that's involves shooting will get the Xbox fans excited.  They were only mildly excited about it because the main character was a women.  If it had stared a bald Space Marine on steroids, then I can guarentee you it would have sold 5 times as many copies.

Hey maybe that's what Rare will do for the next Banjo-Kazooie game after this one bombs then.  In order to make the series appeal to the Xbox fanbase, Banjo will be turned into a bald marine who has a big red gun that's nicknamed the Kazooie.  Mumbo Jumbo will be his foul mouth comanding officer, and the Jinjo's will be the alien race that's trying to kill all humans.

I liked the part where Captain Falcon killed all the Pikmin.
