Nintendo Gaming / RE: Wario Ware Extreme Micro-game Madness
« on: January 09, 2005, 04:06:52 PM »
okay i know this could work. Okay first you would hold the GC controller in your left hand. Then the GBA in your right. You would be standing on top of the dancepad. You would need a stand for the bongos and you could bang them with your elbows. The mic can go anywhere. This would work terribly but it works.

i think it would be neat if u could have the map on the touch screen and with the stylus, make a little box thing (like how u do it on your desktop with your mouse) and it could zoom in on that area. Yeah.

could it just be put off for the Revolution? It just seems like they couldn't finish it within the time frame for the gamecube's lifespan.

"touch the revolution, feel the freedom"

"touching is free, you want to feel free don't you? so feel free, touch the revolution"

"the revolution is free, you want to feel free don't you? so touch it, go ahead, feels nice to be free doesn't it."

All these sound like ads for the DS. : )

Nintendo Gaming / Asphalt Urban GT

In the review, it says "Asphalt features nine tracks from urban settings around the world..." . Is that nine different locales for tracks or just nine tracks total for the entire game.

Nintendo Gaming / RE: does innovative mean wreckless design?
« on: December 06, 2004, 01:35:08 PM »
there's already an editorial on this subject.

http://www.planetgamecube.com/editorials.cfm?action=profile&id=128

and on dictionary.com it says the definition of innovative is "being or producing something like nothing done or experienced or created before."
So the answer to your rhetorical question is no. : )

People shouldn't be totally against a do-all game though. But like darkheart said, it should not be forced.

the screen doesn't have to be stretched all the way. it can have a border so it's not screwed up.

Nintendo Gaming / Gameboy DS
« on: November 28, 2004, 07:35:36 PM »
The third pillar thing doesn't sit well with little kids. During thanksgiving all my relatives came over with their kids. And they were all like "Wow! You have a Gameboy DS?" I tried to explain that it was just called Nintendo DS. Five minutes later they asked if they could play my Gameboy DS. They're elementary schoolers, but they're really excited about it, which is good. It just kind of shows how the general public views the DS. Once they see handheld and Nintendo together, they think Gameboy. It IS the best handheld in history, so that's not necessarily  a bad thing. I just thought it was kind of funny to hear Gameboy DS. It got annoying, but it was interesting to hear people's initial reactions. Adults asked me if it was the new Gameboy also.

Nintendo Gaming / RE: PSP vs DS
« on: October 27, 2004, 05:31:09 PM »
remember, PSP is launching in december in Japan. It's US release date will probable be in January  at the earliest, but I'm thinking an early february release date is when they will probably ship them out. It's price in the US will probably be $189.99.

Also, the DS won't have the release date advantage in Japan, because they're both being released in December there. The PSP actually costs more than 185 dollars automatically, because you have to purchase the memory stick ($26) and so it costs $210 in all. I wonder when they'll announce game prices though.

The DS' price advantage is practiacally gone in the eyes of most consumers. The DS launch (at least in the US) will be a great advantage though.

I think now that the prices are nearly even it's going to come down to the games. Who has that amazing killer app that sells systems? Right now looking at the launch lineups neither has it but at some point some game is going to break out. And it won't be a popular sequel either. Killer apps are usually something that comes right out of left field.

As for the other features well both have unique pros and cons that I think balance out enough that they won't be that big of a deal to the mainstream anyway.

Also, people have forgotten the big advantade the PSP has over the DS. That huge screen. But it kind of excludes the top down shooter genre. The DS will be able to do that and plus introduce FPS games to the handheld market. I think a good FPS (other than Metroid) will be a huge killer app.

TalkBack / RE: NOA Confirms American DS Titles
« on: October 07, 2004, 06:49:56 PM »
I agree with Ian Sane. Nintendo should have launched with at least one NEW game. I like the fact that other companies are showing good support from the launch, but there isn't a game which is a must buy. Unless they changed around Mario 64 a bit more, then I don't think it's really worth buying.

Ian Sane: "It's one thing to launch with a port of an obscure game but one that's not even ten years old and still sells in stores NEW for it's original console? This is a lazy launch. This is one situation where the negative point of view isn't overreacting or being pessimistic."

It IS a lazy launch by Nintendo. If they're going to toot originality, why'd they start by making a port their ONLY launch title? The multiplayer will hopefully be something new and different. Otherwise, it would be better to skip out on it and wait till games like Wario Ware.

I agree with Jonny. If you're Nintendo, and if you're going to have only once launch title, it better be good. It better have WOW factor. As jonny said, it was the least interesting game at E3 for DS. If Mario 64 isn't changed that much, it won't be as appealing to the consumer obviously. It's going to be a great game regardless however, but Nintendo should have launched with another title. The pack in demo and pictochat make up for it by a lot, and if i were to get a game at launch, it would probably be Mario 64 if it turns out well. If not, then MR DRILLER! I do like the other launch titles from other companies a bit.

all DS games will probably have the D-pad and face buttons either the same functions or switchable.
