Nintendo Gaming / RE: Are Retro working on something new?
« on: May 26, 2005, 04:58:40 PM »
Nintendo has been releasing a million Metroid games lately. After a decade of no Metroid I guess they're making up for lost time. Metroid Prime, Fusion, Prime 2, Hunters, Pinball, and Zero Mission. All since November 17, 2002. Five games in less than 3 years. Wow.

well, it's only like that because of the requirement of it to play multiplayer. And it was a multiplayer focused game too.

Well the UMD is a really great format for games. It holds A LOT of space and makes it easier for developers to not have to cut corners, etc.
Take Need for Speed Underground 2 for example. It's not a bad game. But the music in it and the sound of the engine (no difference between different cars) is terrible. It's just bad techno music which would have had high quality liscenced music or whatever if the DS had more space. UMD movies ARE useless though. Especially when you can download movies and put it on the memory stick. But too bad memory sticks are really expensive, but one with the capacity to store a movie or two  is about the cost of several DVDs. So the selling of the UMD's as movies is pretty dumb.

Nintendo Gaming / RE: backwards compatiblity slots needed?

I'm just saying is it entirerly needed? And if so, does this hint towards anything different about the controllers?

If Nintendo is able to emulate the other past console's games, why does it need seperate ports for the Revolution? The memory cards are understandable, but the controllers are less. Except for the Digital click and anolog triggers, there isn't much else that should be hard. Few games even used the feature.

I really wish they could release the one that's like the Zelda one at launch. But they'll only do that AFTER awhile in order to entice those that haven't bought it. Sigh. A special NES edition looks feasible too, with it being the same type of shape.

Well, what would happen when one guy reaches the end but the other doesnt? He just waits? And you can't work together that well besides dividing which enemies to kill. But even then, one person is going to be faster than the other and get most of the enemies. Games like these are meant to be played one player or verses.

Nintendo Gaming / Revealing the Revolution
« on: May 23, 2005, 04:53:32 PM »
How do you guys think that the Revolution will be revealed? (controller and everything). I think around next fall, just as the XBox 360 is releasing. That would throw off some of the people who might buy it so it would be a sneaky move. But at a Spaceworld, or what? Fall Gamer's Summit? I just wish Nintendo had released all the info at E3...

The PS3 and XBox 360 are reportedly about a dozen times as powerful as their predecessors (the XBox about 8). They never said anythng about 30 to 40 times as powerful. Also, if you look at the videos, you've got to realize that they aren't running on the final hardware or whatever, and the games aren't anywhere near completion.

But I don't think that games will need THAT much power. It's like having a car that can go a million mph. What's the point of going that fast when you have speed limits that max out at 80? Hopefully 3 times as powerful as the GC will be enough.

Much better the combining powers on N64
not much more to say, looks cool...wish they would add more moves with powerups thu, since its 3D

But I liked the combining powers thing...

The best items were the double blade electric sword thing, the fire sword, ninja exploding star thing, and the drill. GO COMBINING POWERS!

SWEET!  Nintendo themselves working on the title is great.  I loved the Capcom games but they weren't quite on par with the other Zeldas.

Are you talking about the Gamecube or GBA Four Swords? Because Nintendo developed the Gamecube one.

Dawn of Sorrow? Awwww, they ran out of musical titles. Song of Sorrow! The subtitles didn't really have anything to do with the game though.

Nintendo Gaming / RE: Revolution = Official Name?
« on: May 17, 2005, 07:50:22 PM »
If it is the real name, the logo for it is probably temporary. Why would they tout the ability for backwards compatibility in the logo when all the systems are doing it?

BTW, 1up.com says that in the e3 conference, Nintendo said Revolution was the final name, but I dont remember them saying anything about that.

Killer-ap? Why, just because it's online? I doubt it.

Because it's MARIO KART you online prejudiced person.
Now I can play against my brother who lives across the country from me. We used to have such a big MK rivalry, but the utter lack of teleportation devices in the new millenium has hindered our play sessions UNTIL NOW! or at least... until it comes out. Another thing that i hope will come out of it being online, is NEW DOWNLOADABLE TRACKS! Hopefully Nintendo will do this. Either that, or include a lot of tracks from the getgo.

That is the best design for a toaster ever.

The castle thing was pretty cool though. When it zoomed out it was like BAM! Whoa. Or something. There were a million. That guy's a pretty talented video making guy. But his design for mario. Haha, that looked so weird.
