although i agree that its not gonna happen, just saying "third party, not gonna happen" is ignorant since we know there will be atleast one third party character in brawl.

im just throwing him out there an an obscure character for sake of discussion.

It's not fun, it's comfy! GET IT RIGHT!

Also, I prefer good ol' fashioned jeans. Not shorts, or jeans meant to look worn (why buy a pair of ripped jeans? Seriously.) or those creepy tight emo pants, just regular blue jeans. They're getting harder and harder to find, sadly.

agreed on that last part even though i prefer slacks over jeans (except in the winter, obviously jeans are thicker). if i had it my way i'd never have to wear pants

i'll still be playing since i dont own MP3 yet and probably wont will for awhile now.. which means i'll have to be extra careful on the forums in a month when everyone's beaten it or close to it.

the more friend codes i get for strikers the better since ranked matches never work for me, but friend matches work like 2 outta every 5 tries..

sigh i figured with everyone playing metroid thered be a better chance of me to play online but no.. oh well.

speaking of friend codes i still get the "connecting" message on some of your names. add me already

Name: Jack (default)
Game: Harvest Moon
Platform: SNES, GB, N64, GBA, GC, DS
Release: 1997

Game Info: A simple yet addictive farming sim. You play the role of Jack whom inherits his grandfathers farm and turn it from a dump to a lucrative business. You're givin the option to balance your proffesional life with your personal life by courting bachelorettes in the town neighboring your farm, as well as taking part in said towns various festivities. You learn to raise a farm and a family.

Character Info: Jack is a young man with a big responsibility. Because the player is in control of Jacks life, the only story he has is that which you unfold for him by your actions. In each incarnation of the game you simply start off as the new guy in town who is going to fix up the old farm. Your actions affect how the townspeople view you. You can choose to be a workaholic by never taking part in the festivities and not making friends, or be an eligible bachelor that can balance work and pleasure, ultimately taking a wife and raising children.

i think jack here could make for a fun character. He'd obviously use his tools for attacks, i could see them being used in ways that could represent his series pretty well actually.

possible B specials:

Standard B: Hammer Pound - With the chance of ice climbers being absent from this brawl, someones gotta pound skulls in with a hammer, might as well be jack.

Side B: Watering Can - This is an odd one.. Its a close up grab move in which jack plants a seed on your head and douses you in water. Doesn't cause much initial damage but the seed starts to grow, damaging you slowly (like the Lips Stick item) and the bigger it gets the more it hinders your mobility. Damaging that player makes the seed grow faster.

Down B: (Silver) Hoe attack - Jack whips out his trusty hoe and smacks it into the ground. Being hit by the hoe causes the most damage but it also sends a bit of a shockwave along the ground for extra damage to nearby enemies for a decent mid-length attack.

Up B: (Gold) Scythe Spin - similar to DK's spin move, faster and more lateral.

Final Smash: Livestock Hearding - cows and sheep run across the screen after Jack rings his bell, even the chickens fly around like a cuccoo atack!

misc moves:

grab attack: while grabbing your opponent and hitting A, jack can scrub their face with a brush (i just think that would be funny)

throw: jack whips you across the screen using his trusty fishing rod

taunt: jack whistles and your dog appears and you pet him lovingly (aww!)

will the game let you use your Down+B move if your character is sent flying from an attack? if so it'll be awkward if your Squirtle gets sent across the screen and you have a chance to use Pokemon Change (down+B) in mid air to switch to Ivysaur.. only because im assuming the pokemon will be swapt from where it is on screen at the time of the move.

im not sure if my wording makes sense so i'll say it this way: picture the Zelda - Sheik animation, if you're falling you can change to sheik, and it looks normal because Zeldas character is changing. For the pokemon trainer to swap one pokemon while in midair and send out the next in its exact place (picture falling of the stage) would just look stupid... i dunno, its just my opinion.

i know we havent been shown what the move looks like but im assuming there will be an animation of the trainer holding out a pokeball and zapping the current character out for a new one (after all, they put him in the background for a reason, he's not just gonna stand there jingling his change like the guys in street fighter II). With that assumption, it'll  just look stupid for the trainer to switch a pokemon just to let it fall to its death. i know, i know, it would unbalance the game if the new pokemon would appear automatically on the level itself, im just saying it LOOKS really dumb.. oh well.

also, while on the subject of the trainer.. him being in the background might explains a bit why so far all the levels we've seen have been platforms floating in front of scenery. it would be akward to have him on the platforms in Pit's stage and have the level crumble before his feet. then again we dont know if he's stationary or not.. what about moving levels like the return of an f-zero grandprix, or Delfino plaza? maybe he will be on the platforms with you and in stages like Pits or the bridge of eldin he'll have animations that move him around so he doesnt fall off the level.. who knows?

it would be pretty funny if the trainer is either on the bridge of one of the other destructible platforms, falls thru and dies...

kinda like what Pap linked to on the previous page

edit: this whole post is probably better off int he character discussion thread.. which i havent read a single page of because i'd rather look in one thread for smash talk (bring back the megathread!).. hell it might of already been discussed in there so i wont bother reposting it.

those artist are all ok in my book but.. i'd rather have more punk bands, but thats my personal bias. skateboarding and punk music used to be synonomous...

i remember back when metal heads would drive by in their broken down cars blasting death metal and call me and my skate friends f@gs for no reason.. now its cool for them cuz bands like pig destroyer and in flames are on the soundtracks..

*havent heard this song but if its like anything of their first (and so far only) album, it wont fit right with skateboarding. i do like the band but i wouldnt think of thrasing on a board with their songs playing..

** again.. havent heard this song but if its anything like the majority of songs on their last album, i dont think its skateable.. if it sounds more like their first album, it should be good.

the lack of Ramones, Bad religion, Dead Kennedies and the like make this a really weak soundtrack

but on the bright side.. its not a bunch of emo bands covering GOOD songs like the last one. My chemical romance covering the Misfits????? that alone is the reason why i never bought, rented or even TOUCHED American Wasteland.. and dont get me started on the fact that they didnt include a single Clash cover, even though the cover art on the soundtrack was a take on the London Calling album!!!!!! UGHHH!!

On DKC2:

yeah that was hard back in the day.. but try it using the GC's sad on the virtual console.. I thought it would be a breeze since i went the whole game using that button layout, and still remembered his patterns, but it was still hard!

on mm1:

i never beat that game as a kid but then again my brother and i didn't own that one, we had 2 and beyond. As a teen i was able to beat it using in game trials (no game genie stuff) and as i got older i beat it the honest way with no tricks, just pattern memorization.

also out sure if this really counts as a boss battle but, i was never able to beat the Wily team in MM Soccer.

i was a wee lad when i played margo rpg and very new to the rrg genre, so at the time the completely optional battle against Culex was so f-ing hard for me. I kept coming back to it whenever i could but couldn't beat him.

i made it to the end of the game and decided to level up as much as i could, only to go call to Monstro Town and try one last time. I succeeded and by then the reward felt hardly worth it.

Also the final boss in geist was made hard by the controls. Actually all those bosses were hard because of the controls. For some reason, and this hasn't ever happened in any other FPS game i've played, i kept getting disoriented and confused about which way was up and down when aiming.

Though the ultimate humour is when a character swears in a situation where it is incredibly inappropriate like in church or in front of kids.  So an adult being asked to speak in front of kids in Sunday school and accidently letting an f-bomb of is the funniest thing in the world.  Anyone can say "f*ck".  A true comedic genius knows WHEN to say "f*ck" to get the most laughs.  My favourite "f*ck" ever was in an episode of Curb Your Enthusiasm where Larry was in a broadway play and accidently gets elbowed in the ribs too hard by a castmate and breaks character on stage by yelling "OH F*CK!"

for some reason that reminded me of a really stupid idea my friend and i had one day that we both thought was histerical..

the idea came up when we were hanging out in my car listening to tunes, and a really funky song came on, and at a red light we started car dancing like morons. i did that stupid arm snake thing.. where you lock your hands to gether and make a ~~ motion, im sure you've seen someone do it and look like a tool... anywho so i did that, seperated the hands and let "the groove travel" from the end of one arm to the other, passed it off to him and he continued...

lol yeah, stupid i know... anyway, with that said.. i came up with a funny idea for the movie we always talk about making but never do. in it we would be doing that on the street and after i pass it off to him and he starts doing the dance, he bumps into an old woman using a walker, knocking the walker a few feet away and her flat on her face..

everything and everyone stops, its quite for 3 seconds and he goes to help her "ma'am are you ok, im so sorry"  and he touches her hand to help her up... and thats when she feels the funk! she starts doing the worm on the ground up to her walker, then straddles it and continus dancing. seeing that she's alright everyone around us cheers and boogies down.

its so retarded but it still makes us laugh when we think about it

i'll admit though that when i found out about using A in RE to shoot i was concerned, but that turned out to be a non-issue

only if you're good. These days any emo kid can pick up a guitar, get tabs online, and learn himself three power chords and impress his friends by playing a greenday song or something.

i first got into playing as a freshman and had met some people interested in similar music as i was and they became my only friend in that high school. This school had a bad reputation for being very “ghetto” and when i first got in there i was literally scared of getting shot simply because i prefer different styles of rock over hiphop. And even though i do like some hiphop, i didn't show it like everyone else in the clothes i wore so i got picked on a few times just for dressing the way i did... Lol this one time someone asked me if the Ramones was a clothing label cuz i had a few different shirts with their name on them!

anyway back to the topic, i made friends with other guitar players and sometimes we'd bring our instruments in and play in the halls or sneak out into the field. Other than that small group of people though, playing guitar gave me no cool points. I did get some curiosity points though, one or two girls asked stupid things like how it works and if its hard to play, but other than that no one cared. I remember this one guy grabbed a friends acoustic while he wasn't looking and broke a string by strumming violently, then pretended to smash it on the ground only to toss it back to my friend and screaming “ROCK AND ROLL DUDE!” in what is known as the “white” voice.

When i transfered out and into another school people were a little more tolerant of others so i wasn't afraid of bringing my acoustic to school and had even more musical friends. still though, everyone else really didn't care. Some people would ask me to play stuff even though they wouldn't know the song, but its still better than having idiots come by and bang their heads while i played.

The rocket barrel was a jet pack that let diddy fly around worlds similar to FLUDD though i believe it was faster and controled much different.

the peanut shooter was a peanut shooting pistol. Every character had a unique gun that shot out fruit or something, the peanut shooter was his, and i believe he used two of them but my memory of the game is fuzzy.

donkey kong had a coconut shotgun which was cool, i'd love to see that as an item
