TalkBack / Re: Dead or Alive Dimensions Banned in Sweden
« on: May 21, 2011, 04:13:15 AM »
What a complete travesty of a decision.

I do NOT doubt that Team Ninja has made this game borderline pornographic, and just inappropriate in a number of ways, BUT: while all of Scandinavia bans pornography featuring anyone under 18, the sexual minor age is 15. The girls in this game are not paid for the photos but are participating for fun, hence, it is not pornography in the traditional sense, and 16 should be fine. In any case, the age of the photographer is not disclosed. For all we know, the girls could be shooting each other.
Furthermore; Denmark and Norway simply have no child pornography laws covering fiction in the first place.

Concerning the full Scandinavian ban, I can only assume that Bergsala, being a swedish company, fear legal jeopardy even if they only released the game outside Sweden (which includes Finland too, but I guess people just ignore them out of habit.)

Or, they feel the release becomes too unprofitable without the swedish market.

I don't believe either, though, and I think in the end the decision just indicates Bergsala not wanting their reputation tarnished among the swedish public and fellow businesses.

TalkBack / Re: Wii Play: Motion Featured 'Unique' Development Process
« on: April 27, 2011, 05:06:36 PM »

I realize that and it's why I'm not really looking forward to playing it since I don't know what games there are. The only games I liked from the original were what I stated and I figured they wouldn't be on the new game since M+ wouldn't improve either of them.

Well, chances are they're made something new that you might like. I mean, you didn't know you liked those two games from the first one before you played them.

The only thing I liked about the 1st WiiPlay was targets and Tanks.

I don't see how motion improves either of those games, so I'm not really looking forward to playing it and more looking forward to the included Black wiimote+

(Air hockey was cool too though)

The news item states these are all NEW games that DOES in fact take advantage of MotionPlus.

This game looks nothing short of spectacular!

I'm hoping to get an internship at Retro this spring, and this is getting me giddier than ever.

TalkBack / Re: GoldenEye to Feature Wii Remote Control Scheme sans Pointer

Alright, reading the comments here, it seems I have no need to be worried.

I managed to write yet another baffled post about whether or not their would be pointer controls.

TalkBack / Re: Sony Wishes to Work with Nintendo to Promote 3D

This reminds me of something happening 3½ years ago, when Microsoft tried to play hurt that Nintendo wouldn't back the Wii60 initiative.

« on: April 09, 2010, 05:53:32 AM »
How incredibly obnoxious. Compared to Bayonetta, Madworld represented half the effort, and appeared on half the amount of systems. No surprise to me you get half the sales.

The demographic thing simply isn't true either; Capcom repackaged Okami for Wii, and got DOUBLE the sales they had on PS2. And even that game's combined sales don't reach Madworld, despite receiving much greater reviews.

I think SEGA knows the limited appeal of Clover/Platinum Games' creations.
This is probably just a case of one guy rising to spew idiocy.

Sad to see how hard the economic situation is hitting games.

And how hard bad management is hitting games.

TalkBack / Re: Why Nintendo Doesn't Get It (Regarding New DS Rumor)
« on: October 28, 2009, 09:22:16 AM »
Where did you hear that this move is to "compete" with the other devices?

What I heard primarily was that a supposed new DSi model with have larger screens and larger buttons (making the system and the pixels bigger, yes) for ease of use for older people.

These people do NOT own a PSP or iPhone, and are probably not considering getting one. The DSi meanwhile features plenty of worthwhile distractions for the elderly, and a slightly larger machine altogether just might be what they needed.

I'm pretty convinced no-one has been expecting this to actually be a "new" DS.

TalkBack / RE: Greenpeace Paints Mario as Bad Dude
« on: December 16, 2007, 03:32:36 PM »
I never liked Greenpeace. And Nintendo never liked to brag widely about what measures they take to preserve the environment, as well as what charities they support.

We could all be self-righteous vigilantes like Greenpeace, but then again, we could also just be nice.

TalkBack / RE: Tomy Blames Nintendo for Low Profits
« on: February 20, 2007, 09:20:16 PM »
I get Tomy's point. If kids save their money for (rather) expensive toys like video game systems, of course they can't buy as many action figures.
It is, however, not very admirable of them company-wise to blame someone with a completely different product for their own lack of success. They're the ones in the action figure business, THEY figure out how to sell more action figures.
If they were to disrupt the toy business altogether, like Nintendo did, I bet they too would be pretty pleased with themselves.

What, no-body's told Wolfen 359 yet, that the shield on the Z-button in Smash Bros. Melee is not the same shield as the one on L and R? It wasn't in the reply, so I assumed it'd be first I'd find in the talkback.

Anyway, goes like this: The shield on the Z-button is more reminiscent of the shield from the original Smash Bros.; it comes up after a grab-attempt, and decreases in size particularly slower than the L and R shield. It is, however, also less durable., suggesting that it is meant primarily for protection after a fumbled grab-attempt, of which there are quite many, compared to the first game, where grabs and throws played a much bigger role.

TalkBack / RE:REVIEWS: Eyeshield 21: MAX DEVILPOWER!
« on: March 04, 2006, 02:54:53 AM »
Just a little fill-in on what goes on in the comic:

Sena does indeed live with his real parents, they're just described as being so boring, that there isn't any reason to show them in the comic. Also, the only one who does NOT recognize Sena as being Eyehield21 on close range is his older female cousin Mamori, because she isn't particularly bright at all times. The blond vampire elf is neither an elf, nor a vampire. He is called Hiruma, and has a rather terrifying network of information sources, because he generally blackmails everyone he can.

Nice review, I just might import this, as the comic is both one of the most well-written and best drawn concept-series around.
