They did a recap. It was at the beginning of the show before the "HBO AHhhhhhhhhhhhhhhh" comes on.

Hmmm... somehow my DVR missed that.

Dexter: 8.5/10
Episode one got leaked on to the interwebs and I managed to see it. Overall, the show was very good, there was good killing, good progression of Dexter's character, interesting plot setups, and a changing of relationships that I liked to see. I did have two problems with it though: *Note first spoiler is minor, second is major, but I try not to give too much away in either.

1. The first two people he kills he does by electricity. He still ties them down and does his ritual, but still...

2. They've introduced religion to the show in a much bigger way than they did with Santa Muerte. Dexter's apparent main enemy is ritualistic in his killings, but religiously so, and even has a sort of spirit guide with him, though his is physical, unlike Dexter's hallucinations of his dad. Then Dexter is also starting Harrison in Pre-K and takes him to a Catholic school which brings up religious questions for Dexter's life and life overall. I'm a little worried that the show might be trying to tap some of the mysticism of the books, which I didn't like at all.

Pan Am: 7/10 (with a decent probability of getting better)
What happened to Christina Ricci's tits? They're gone. She's like a solid A or weak B now. But anyway, the show was surprisingly interesting, there's a historical spy aspect to go along with what would be expected of a show about stewardesses.

Boardwalk Empire: 8/10
Why the hell didn't they do a recap? Otherwise, great freaking show. I'm not even going to say anything else, just watch it, seriously.

If the Wii U has a capacitive touchscreen, it could take mouse+qwerty gaming from being PC only.

Engadget got some hands on time with new add-on here's what they have to say:

Quote
Nintendo may be AWOL on the TGS show floor (as usual), but that's not stopping Capcom from strutting the big-N's hardware in its stead -- we dropped by its booth for a gameplay-free handling of the 3DS extended slide pad add-on. The control-extending cradle is every bit as bulky as it looks, killing any hope we had of cramming the rig into our pocket. The trade-off? It's much more comfortable to hold than the naked 3DS, giving our meaty hands a smooth, contoured surface to grip. The new right-hand circle pad feels just as solid as the handheld's dedicated pad, and didn't significantly obstruct our access to the 3DS' face buttons. All in all, the cradle is a comfortable, if awkwardly large extension to the 3DS that doesn't seem to compromise the handheld's existing input.

Not so shabby, and article says it adds an R2 button as well.

Underbelly: Razor 7.8/10

Fourth season of an Australian show that I find fantastic. But so far not so much. I'm not sure how I feel about the premise, and they've already announced the death of my favorite character so far. But I'm going to keep watching because some things look good, but as with the other seasons, there are multiple story arcs. In the past seasons they've always chosen the best story lines to follow, but I don't feel that way about the first two episodes.

Superheroes: 9/10

It's a documentary about real life superheroes. People who (like in the movie Super which I will review next) dress up in costume, armor, and non lethal weapons and combat local crime. Well, that's their purpose, but the only things they do are (I don't know if this should be spoiler tagged or not, but just in case: ) one group baits muggers with a flamboyant gay man and a woman who are part of their group, and then make a citizens arrest. While filming, they caught a drunk driver, called the police, who did not respond, so they took the guys keys and let him sleep it off. The other groups mostly help homeless people, but one of them patrols a park in NYC discouraging drug dealers. I would recommend this movie, this movie did affect me, and while I don't want to dress up in costume and patrol my suburban neighborhood, I do think I will be trying to help people more often in some way and be less apathetic.

Super: 9/10
I think it was BnM who reviewed this movie, and I watched it and loved it. As he, or whoever reviewed it said, Ellen Page was great in it. It's a movie about a guy who's wife gets into drugs and in order to save her he becomes a super hero. Before saving his wife he does take on smaller criminals and it's hilarious, absolutely hilarious. I thought most of the violent funny parts of Kick-Ass weren't funny (btw I loved that movie and think it was better than Super despite what I just said) but they were great in Super.

TalkBack / Re: Nintendo Facing Wii U Development Issues?
« on: August 23, 2011, 07:29:44 PM »
Three things I see:
1. So what? The release is still far from today, of course they're going to have wrinkles to iron out, and of course they trying to be cost efficient. I would be more surprised if the news was that they got the controller right on the first try and weren't going to make any adjustments to it after testing.

2. The controllers worked at E3 didn't they?

3. It says develop houses are having problems with wireless features not working, then says they're using tethered controllers. Isn't the tether in replacement of the wireless function? I can understand the radio not working, but isn't the programming the same regardless of the radio as long as you know what radio will be used? I don't know so that's a serious question.

@BnM
I guess that's the difference, I went in with low expectations and was pleasantly surprised by it being a complete movie and not the jackass fest I was expecting.

« on: August 23, 2011, 09:57:08 AM »
Yeah, not everyone is sold on 3D so I can see them changing market strategy, and if they're serious about dual analog, a redesign makes sense, what they should do however, is give the new nub free to people who bought early.

Hall Pass - ::crickets::

I bet it seemed funny on paper, but it most certainly did not transfer to the screen.
The only part that was kinda funny was the last scene before the credits. Everything else was like a joke that would've been funny, had the person told it right.
4.5/10

& did i forget to mention that it is completely predictable?

As a comedy it failed, but as a movie it was decent, and predictable? You didn't think everyone was going to have sex, and then only one on them did?

Super 8: Super 8/10

Only thing that kept this from being a 9 was that it was a kid's movie, and thus the kills were muted. Otherwise, very well done.

Thundercats: 8.5/10 Loving it, but wish it would move a little faster, the 4th episode seemed like a filler, though I understand it's importance to the story.

Splice: 8/10 Not a great movie, but weird and creepy, which fulfilled my enjoyment at the time.

Iron Man 2: 8.9/10 Wow, why did I wait so long to see this? I'm probably going to watch it again I liked it so much. Scarlett Johansen was incredibly hot, but I didn't like her fight scene too much. Everything about this movie rocked except the deus ex machina of his father's element provided by shield.

A touch screen however, is inventory control without having to pause the game, a map without taking up the screen, infinite buttons

Mind blown.

Too bad Dark Shadows is a remake too...

of a TV show though, plus its all gothicy and stuff. So it kinda falls under his own thing. Also, Ed Wood was a remake of Ed Woods life. But yeah Planet of the Apes, Willy Wonka, Alice in Wonderland are all things that should never have been touched. I am ambivalent about Sweeney Todd mainly because it was a mixed bag.

The new Alice in Wonderland was a sequel, so they did leave the original alone. The new Willy Wonka was good, but it was no where near as good as the original and that's where it failed so maybe they shouldn't have touched it, but they did make a good movie. Planet of the Apes, I thought it was better than the original, I know I'm in a very small minority on that one, but there it is. And I loved Sweeney Todd, and there's been like 4 different movie versions of it over the years.

So did Ubisoft just confirm achievements as well as being able to use the screen with the TV off to check in on friends and join games?

Basically, did they just confirm what we hoped the Wii U Tablet could do?

My hope is that it can stream Netflix or other video to the TV and a game to controller, but yeah general TV-off game related stuff is good.

Peter Moore is actually making me upset with his talk about how "the controller a unique way of enjoying a game experience" and lots of stuff about controls and interfaces and such.

You dipshits talked up the same bullshit about the Wii and Move and Kinect and all we get is a bunch of half-baked gimmicky nonsense that controls like ****!  If all this controller **** mattered to you guys so much how come this gen every dev's best games (Nintendo being the obvious exception) went for broke with graphics and presentation and used normal controls?  Move and Kinect are worthless.  The Wii would be the same thing if it wasn't for Nintendo's involvement.

You can talk all you want about the Wii U screen controller but I don't believe for a second that third parties will use it any way that is even remotely worth a ****.  I don't think even Nintendo will.  I much prefer it when third parties go on and on about the specs because I trust them to make great conventional games if they've got powerful specs.  We want EA to just make their best games for the Wii U.  If they focus on making unique Wii U experiences, we're fucked.  We need REAL Madden, for example, if the Wii U is to go anywhere.

The Wii U has traditional controls. It has all the buttons the others have (except maybe the L3/R3?) but with a screen in the middle for added depth. If it helps, think of it as GC/GBA connectivity, but with better graphics, more buttons, and more games to support the feature. I doubt every game is going to force you to use the screen, so you might be able to completely ignore it, and let the rest of us have all the fun, while you're miserable... as always.

4GB is a lot, but 2GB would probably be good to handle all the things Nintendo wants the system to do, and there's still more they haven't told us.

Yeah, if I could do it over again that would be the last one we watched.

As Papoose said: I love a fat ass, but I'm a titty man.

Boobs are something special. They offer you pillow tops, the joy of squeezing, the focal point of the nipple, the suckling reminder, and the "She's got a balcony you can do Shakespeare from" aspect.

So this weekend my niece and I did a Movie Marathon Madness. She's 16 and quoted Gone With the Wind, and I was like what the hell do you know about that? And she's like, not much but I'd like to see it, and I was like, oh well I have the movie on DVD. We started with that then just started watching some downloaded movies:

Gone With the Wind: 9.8/10 Still one of my favorites of all time. Jeebuz is it long, but it's still good, and I've never seen another movie with such amazing cinematography.

Transformers 3: 8/10 Pretty good, I like the history tie in, and the battles were cool. The girl that replaced Megan Fox is smoking freaking hot, and a better actress.

Horrible Bosses: 8.2/10 Very funny, good plot twists for a comedy, and a non-typical resolution. Oh, and as BnM said Jennifer Aniston was super hot in this.

Cold Prey: 6.6/10 Pretty typical horror movie, but it was okay. It's about snowboarders boarding up in an old hotel and then being hunted and killed by someone or thing...

Insidious: 6.9/10 Meh. I liked the idea, and some of the scenes were as cool as they were creepy, but the acting was rather second rate, as was the writing.

The Conspirator: 8.1/10 I'm a big fan of history, and I'm glad they shone a little light on this part of our country's history because it seems to be happening again. But I'll leave it at that for the sake of not walking the political line.

Unknown: 7.9/10 Very confusing at first, but it has a good pace, and Liam Neeson is a good actor and pulls the story along by keeping you interested in his plight.

Water for Elephants: 8/10 Robert Paterson's Keauno Reeves (sp? on both names) like acting annoys the **** out of me, but this was a very good story. I didn't like the flashback, storytelling aspect of it, (ala the old lady in Titanic) but the rest of it was good. I also found it interesting that the guy with carnival in Heroes is the guy with the Circus in this movie.

Sucker Punch: 8.1/10 Really cool movie. I loved the three worlds it presented and the overlaying trouble that the stress of her first created fantasy was still to much to bear, and she needed the third completely over the top level to actually survive and do what needed to be done. I didn't like the ending because not only did I want her to get away, it was sad that she got the lobotomy, but that doctor did say she looked at him like she wanted him to do it. That might have been because of what happened after she kicked that guy in the balls

Hall Pass: 6.8/10 Meh. I didn't find it all that funny, but there were some really funny moments, and the ending wasn't typical.

Bad Teacher: 7.2/10 Funny, had a few lessons to learn, but pretty shallow story.

I Am Number Four: 8.3/10 I liked this one a lot, but I just wish it would have been fleshed out a little more. There'll likely be a sequel or two (although the movie's title doesn't lend itself well to sequeling) that will hopefully explain more and be deeper. There was a good amount of action in this movie, coupled with suspense, and an evolving story, one of my favorites of the weekend.

So there it is, three days, thirteen movies, and a lot of Maryjane (for me, not my niece).
