Our city is trying to prevent Wal-Mart from building their second store in the middle of town. Here's hoping they succeed! We're becoming a Wal-Mart nation.

Actually, and I'm being totally honest right now, I don't think Barack Obama is America's best choice. I think I am, as this post proves.

We have so many things in common, but the most important one here is that we are both called elitists (more than once) by our female arch-nemeses.

Though on the whole I agree with you, GP, that Wii owners have got to try Okami out if they haven't played it already, I must say something about this:

From what I understand Ready at Dawn put a ton of work into the game and had one heck of a time getting it together, even having to rebuild certain sections because of the loss of code. This is a port where effort was put into it.

There are no points for effort when it comes to quality. "Good job" and "good try" are two very separate terms. Let's not confuse how hard something is to do with how good the final product actually is.

Conceivably, really, you should drive from Sac-town to San Fran and visit Kairon and Mega. If I can make it, I'd love to have an NWR staffer "gettogether" in the gayest town in the world.

edit: Mega's in Berkeley, Kairon's in Fremont

Trains are still a possibility, as there are a few but I have no idea where. The train doesn't stop in my town anymore, but there IS a train right to Portland. Ya'd have to do some research.

Consider Greyhound. It's hella sucky, but you can stop wherever and the tickets are like reusable or last for a week or something I don't know I never do it cause I have a car.

I'm checking airfare from Meddy to Sacramento: NWR meetup in ballSAC TOWN

By July or August I might might might have a new place with roomies (been crashing with my dad ever since the "I'm-moving-to-Portland-oh-wait-no-I'm-not" fiasco). If I do have a place of my own, consider the couch yours! There's some good brewpubs around here (and if you have a little cash (30 or 40 bucks) we can go see some authentic Shakespeare plays in an outdoor theatre, really sublime stuff), but I might have to join you on the trip up to Portland so we can really hit the town (we'll need a place to stay in P-town oh shits we should ask Rimmer I owe him a Professor Layton notepad). My area is not entertaining necessarily, but Crater Lake is pretty swank as are Ashland and Jacksonville.

If I can't offer you a place to stay, you've gotta stop by so we can get some beers or whatever.

What are your plans for transport? How will you be getting North? I'd be intrigued by the possibility of seeing some So Cali.

edit: For the record, I live right on I-5 which I assume will be your main highway. A little less than three hours north is Eugene, a fine college town (U of O) and an hour or so north of that is Portland, the beer capitol of the world (and I'm not kidding).

This Mondays games are Crusin USA for the N64 and Wonderboy for the Sega Master System. I remember playing Crusin USA. I liked all the unlockables. As for Wonderboy haven't played it or any SMS games. What are some good games for it?

Cruisin' was one of those terrible games I did not yet know was terrible. haha
I would have to disagree with you the first two were good after that I would have to agree.

Some of us STILL don't know that they're terrible.

Don't worry guys, the DLC Nintendo is promising will just be stuff already on the disc that is unlocked via an Internet connection, and THAT'S OKAY.

TalkBack / Re: Professor Layton Weekly Puzzles Already on Cartridge
« on: March 25, 2008, 07:06:37 PM »
It matters because Nintendo is selling this as an online game and is requiring you to have an Internet connection in order to gain content that has already been created and is already on the ds card. The purpose of DLC is to create ongoing content, to keep the game fresh by adding to it after it has been released. The point is that the developer is creating content based on user reaction and desire. For developers like Harmonix, this means adding songs to Rock Band that the fans may want, and a communication line is opened between the installed user base and the developer. By faking that communication, (in this case, pretending that someone is sitting around coming up with new puzzles for Layton), Nintendo is being disingenuous about the games online functionality, and is flat out lying about their commitment to downloadable content.

The purpose of a news story like this is to point out to the world what the developer is doing and let the developer know that we're aware of what they're doing. Just because DLC is frequently abused doesn't mean we should allow it to happen.

I watched the video version when you first posted it, Blood; I like that it identifies who's saying what. Neat feature! It's always good to hear a cast that's about non-Nintendo stuff, sometimes I get stuck inside my little hole.

General Chat / Re: Me at the Obama Rally (not a political discussion)
« on: March 23, 2008, 04:54:55 AM »
Probably not. I was linking to it because it has more details on Obama's visit and my adventure and impressions; the politically "charged" (wrong word, I'm hardly "fired up!") aspect was a warning, not the substance of the purpose of the link.

let's all calm down

General Chat / Me at the Obama Rally (not a political discussion)
« on: March 22, 2008, 07:51:35 PM »

Guess which one is me.

Yeah, here's a tip gang: when someone asks you to get fired up at a political rally, don't do it, especially when there's a camera around. It was easy to get fired up for Obama once inside, but outside in the freezing cold I was screaming (not cheering) and out of sheer pain.

I was surprised that Obama came to So. Oregon, but he did, and pretty close to where I live to (not that any part of Medford is "far away"). His talk was nice, he took questions from the audience, and afterwards I heckled some Ron Paul supporters.

If you squint you can see that I'm holding a camera and taking a photo of Mr. Obama. I will get my photos developed in two weeks, and maybe once I scan them in I'll show you the reverse angle of this shot.

Both of these pictures appeared on Medford's newspaper's website, so maybe I'll be front page tomorrow morning, looking like an ass.
