I missed these Enner, thanks.  Were you on vacation for a couple of weeks?

Bah, I just bought both Pikmin 3 and Captain Toad and I still don't have a Wii U.  That's six games I now have without a system.

Can you even get Pikmin 3 for a decent price anymore outside of this?

I didn't read all of them but Don't Starve: GE having 2 copies so you can give one to a friend sounds really cool.

I will definitely recommend Four Swords Adventure.  Ian is right that it was insane to be able to have the full experience, but it is still a decent game as a single player adventure.  It was fun that way, but was absolutely amazing in multiplayer.   I played 2 player and 4 player and the fun we had showed this game may have been the best party game I ever have played.

I'll also highly recommend Jungle Beat.  Maybe the best DK game I've ever played.

Pikmin 2 is also one of my favorites.

As far as I can tell, it's Pokemon with ghosts.

I"m with TLZ.  I have a feeling they are going to start releasing yearly or bi-annual hardware that gets obsoleted every 4-5 years or so.  So each game that is created is scaled to whatever hardware is being run, just like how iOS platforms are configured.

I'm not sure how I feel about that, but if the entry price for the new hardware is not too expensive, I could get used to it.

Maybe if this ssells well enough we cam have the previous Wii games in a new collection.

I'm still hoping for a Wii U release of the (already translated) Fatal Frame 2 Wii version.  Should be easy and relatively inexpensive, but I'm not holding my breath.
I'm hoping for #4 which they also never released here.  At least with 2, you had a chance at it with the PS2.

Disgaea 5 pulled in good numbers... for the US.
I think they jumped to the PS4 too fast.

I wasn't being serious.
About any of it or just making a thread in general gaming?

And handhelds are dedicated gaming hardware.  That is why they are lumped together with home consoles which are also dedicated gaming hardware.  Nintendo will probably do a press release touting the 3DS as the highest selling console for the month of February at some point.  Sony or Microsoft will tout their system as the highest selling HOME console at some point as well for the month.

I mean the people here posting the data and lumping it together I don't care about how it gets reported.
Dude, this is the official sales thread.  There is no sales thread in the handheld forum. So sales of all systems are discussed here and are compared whatever way anyone wants.  If you want to start a handheld sales thread in the handheld forum and try to maintain it yourself, have fun.

Battlefront makes the most sense but I'm still skeptical of EA and the fact that it would be an unreleased game coming to Wii U.
Why are you skeptical?  Maybe EA was required to make a Wii U version by Disney's demand and they didn't want to spend internal resources to work on it.  So they gave it to the studio that did a more than competent job on a couple of their previous games that they released on Wii U even with low sales.

BW makes a very interesting point.  I hadn't realized it before but I can't get a Paw Patrol game for my son on the PS3 but I can get one on his Leadpad or on iOS.  Most of the cookie cutter kids games have gone mobile it seems.

I likely will buy a Wii U for Zelda and X as well.  I'll probably plunk down for Smash and Mario 3D World and Hyrule Warriors when I can find them for the right price for me as well.

Put the Wii disc on the shelf and download the PS3 one to play. Win-Win for everybody.
Or do what I did and get all three, then proceed to not play any of them.

Back to topic, I do think it would be a step backwards if Nintendo were to have the normal E3 Press Conference again. I'd say it is actually a good example of Nintendo innovation. I think it is the right step and a genius way of controlling the message.
It's way easier to control a recorded message than it is to control a live press conference where anything could go wrong, especially with how big the presentations have become.

Yeah, the TurboExpress handheld played the same games as the TG-16 console. That's why early in the 3DS' life they said the 3DS VC would include its games, before it included games from consoles, although that never actually happened outside of Japan.

Mild fix there.
It's easier to find your mild fix if you bold the part you fixed. :)

Slow sales week I guess. I though DBX would sell more than that.

I believe the Turbo Graphix 16 had a handheld version that used the same game cards.  Granted it cost like $200 more than the console, but they technically did this idea back in the 90s.

I don't think it's the highest on a single platform either, but still, that's an insane number. I wonder what they'll do with GTA VI and if it has any chance of topping these sales.
I think it all depends on when they release it and what consoles it is released upon.  I'm guessing it's still about 3-4 years away from releasing and by that time, they will only want to release it on PS4/XB1/PC.  It'll likely sell less than V.

« on: February 11, 2015, 04:21:29 PM »
I beat Epic Mickey 2 with my son last month.  We had a blast.  He enjoyed it so much he wanted to start over.  The controls can be annoying in some ways and some parts of the co op make the game easier and other parts make it harder.  The biggest issue with solo play is getting Oswald to do what you want.  The issue with co op play is that they add in mini games for Oswald that aren't there in solo so it adds time.  It's almost faster to play solo and just drop out the moment one of those mini games is required, let the computer controlled Oswald do the task and then have the partner jump back in.

Mop it up has it about right.  Nintendo wants to get Japan to buy consoles like they did during the SNES to PS2 eras.  I really think they will try again to appeal directly to Japan on their next home console, but it won't be a hybrid because they won't want to cannibalize their handheld market there.  They go safe with handheld and go big on the home console this next gen.

Nintendo has nothing to lose in combining their efforts, however. The way they market the system would obviously be very important, but the most appealing aspect would definitely be "it's a handheld and a console". Vita TV didn't work because it's a shameless and half-baked attempt at the idea that offers no benefit over a PS4, Vita, or even a PS3.
They do lose something.  They lose the ability to sell 2 systems.

More like they need to keep ahold of Yokai Watch.  That thing is gaining major steam.

I like Enner's idea of cross buy on this game.  Nintendo has finally decided to embrace cross buy, or at least get their feet wet with it with Mario vs DK.  It would be cool if they did that with Xenoblade as well.
