Nintendo Gaming / Re: Previous Employees Bad Mouth Nintendo

I don't doubt any of that criticism. As a consumer I don't know much about what goes on at Nintendo internally behind the scenes, but I do see how rigid and unflexable and unadapatable they are in the marketplace. Nintendo refused to adapt when the market shifted to CDs, and then again with online play, HD graphics, and now with hard drives... so I have no reason to doubt that the way Nintendo is run internally is like that. We see it externally, and it makes sense these decisions are a reflection of the hidden internal workings of the company.

Well, even if this is not THE game, it still shows how an unknown game can come out of the woodwork at any time and give the Vita a huge bump in sales. Who here seen this game coming and predicted this huge sales boost for the Vita? I sure didn't see it coming. Who knows what else is lurking just around the corner? Like I said, all it takes is for the Vita to get just one Monster Hunter equivalent and its fortunes will change. At least in Japan anyway.

Aztec swords just aren't the same... :'(

In some ways they are superior to metal swords. Against an opponent wearing armor they would probably shatter, but against raw flesh obsidian blades are better because they are much sharper than any metal blade could ever be. You can hack off limbs and decapitate your opponents with minimal effort. They also don't rust the way a typical iron/steel sword would.

I just like exploring a world crammed with secrets while killing a bunch of enemies with my sword 'n stuff.

You could still do that in an Aztec universe.

I want the Zelda series going all Samurai about it too.

What if the Zelda series took a more Aztec oriented direction? I would like to see Obsidian swords, Atlatls, and Jaguar skinned warriors which would put PETA in an uproar. Also, you should be able to cut out your opponents still beating hearts with an obsidian knife and offer it as a sacrifice to the Gods of Hyrule. The game would of course have to carry an M rating obviously.

Virtual Console systems.

How is your SD card project coming along? You should make a new thread all about it, and post pictures of how it worked out.

Of course a Hatsune Miku game tops the charts...  :/

I don't know what that even is, but this proves the point I made awhile back of why we shouldn't rule the Vita out. The PSP did poorly for most of its existence until an unknown game called Monster Hunter came out of left field and single handedly saved it. Looks like this Hatsune Miku is the new Monster Hunter of this generation.

The problem is probably because Android devices are built by a myriad of manufacturers, but with iPhones its all under one company (Apple). Android is an open platform and Google can't force manufacturers to use the latest updates. So the short answer is you need to blame the manufacturers, not Google. Google provides the updates and for free, but its up to each individual manufacturer to actually adopt them.

I love the Xbox 360 controller, very comfortable and easy to use. Probably one of the best controllers I have ever used and I am glad the Wii U Pro Controller essentially copied it.

Nintendo copied the design, but not the button layout. It will be comfortable for your hands, but it might not be so comfortable for your thumbs.

Triple A games that don't sell are killing game companies. :P: : :

Triple A games that don't sell aren't Triple A games at all. Isn't commercial success what defines what a Triple A game is? Game companies can't just arbitrarily define their games as Triple A. Only the market has the right to make that determination.

Maybe that prototype thing represents one of those multiple SKUs that will be available at launch? I'm thinking the high end one.

Canada is the Russia of the western hemisphere... at least it is in terms of geography and climate. Politically maybe it is too, I don't know.

I am so glad that Nintendo copied adapted the Xbox 360's controller design for the Pro Controller. The Xbox 360 has one of the most comfortable controllers I've ever used, so it's nice to see that Nintendo apparently agrees.

It might be comfortable to hold, but I have some concerns about shifting my right thumb back and forth from the diamond buttons and the right stick. It might be fine, but I've never used a controller with that sort of configuration so I'm not sure. We shall see in a couple months time.

Why is the Kirby Collection way down at rock bottom? That's not good.

The Tablet controller has built in motion control, so it does the same thing as a wiimote. Instead of waggling a remote, you waggle a tablet. Same thing basically.

Over the past month, I have been contemplating when, if ever, the government will give back the power dictated in the Patriot Act.

When has any government ever in the history of mankind voluntarily given back any kind of power? At the time it was introduced the Patriot act was said to be temporary measure, but it has now become permanent. People aren't even really talking about it anymore. We just seem to accept it even though its unconstitutional.

desktops are stuck in a rut.

The Wheel has been stuck in a rut for thousands of years, but there's no reason to reinvent it. Just like how graphics can hit a wall where they can no longer be substantially improved, so too does it go with other things. There's a limit to how much you can improve something. Any further improvements of the keyboard's basic layout and design would be minimal at best. Sure, a touch pad or something like that could be grafted on, but there isn't going to be a radical overhaul (and there doesn't need to be either).

Ew, a plasma TV?

Plasma TVs have their pros and cons. They can handle deeper shades of black, for example. They are a very poor choice for video games, though... especially if you leave a game paused, because Plasma TVs can potentially have images burned into the screen and then they are junk. This was the reason why screensavers were invented.

I'm pretty much 100% sure that the "dream Zelda game" I envision in my head is one that will NEVER happen.

You mean Zelda + Animal Crossing + a lot of random crying? :P

No one knows how to make a brand extremely popular, and then screw it up better than Sony. Before they got into video games they had the Walkman which was a revolutionary thing at the time and extremely popular. Basically it was the Ipod of its time, but now the brand name is meaningless. Now they are doing the same exact thing with the Playstation brand. Up until the launch of the PS3 the word "Playstation" was practically synonymous with video game console. The PS2 has 90% market share. But since then its only gone downhill.

You can buy upscalers if you TV doesn't offer it but it's really not worth the cost unless you find it in a garage sale.

Of all the things you might find at a garage sale, this one I don't think is very likely, and if you did find it it probably wouldn't work.
