NWR Forums Discord / Rewarded for clumsiness
« on: October 02, 2006, 06:08:23 AM »
Have you ever seen that Simpson's episode that kept defining and redefining the word "Homer" untill they eventually got to the definition: suceeding despite idiocy?

Well, this is kinda the same thing....except with clumsiness...

At a party, I was dressed all sharp and ish, and I had a pair of leather boots on. It had rained earlier that night, but it was nice and chill when I arrived there.

Anyways, let me setup what this party looked like. Imagine two rows of condos with a big parking lot in between. For each row, there were two seperate condos. And in between the two condos, there was a huge deck with a staircase that led into the parking lot. Each condo had a huge garage underneath you could enter from the parking lot. Now there were parties at every condo. You could enter a condo by going into the respective garage or going up the staircase. You could also exit the same way.

Well, as you might of guessed, I slipped down one of the staircases.

But it was bad.....real bad.

I was walking down the stairs when my foot slipped out, most likely due to my leather f**king boots and the rain that had just passed. For a second, I was completely horizontal. I tossed my cup as I slipped and the beer rained down from the heavens.....all over me. I hit the staircase on my leg first, then my neck of all places, and then continued to slide down until I eventually hit pavement.

Everyone that was around me watched in awe. As soon as I got up, brushed "it" off, and started to walk, people cheered. One man said "GET THIS MAN A BEER!" and within a few seconds I had two un-opened beers in my hand and a couple of girls that were concerned about my "well being".

I let out a cry "Horray Beer!" and everybody cheered.

I ended up puking that night (which I've only done once off of alchohol), and waking up in a house of which I knew nobody. My last clear thought was taking a one bite of a slice of pizza and thinking to myself "this....is delicious," and then I passing out.

The benefit of which has killed my brain

Only because it was the who intelectually brought death and disease

Nintendo Gaming / Camelot to NOT make Nintendo games?! WTF?!

Camelot: For the time being no further NINT DO support

01.08.06 - Camelot will for the time being support no further NINT DO platforms with plays. The magazine Gemaga reports the gulf play gulf Daisuki to that of a presentation of the Japanese developer, today: I Love gulf for the PC presented.

Instead Camelot wants to concentrate completely on its new gulf play and the pertinent on-line service “G planet Koosoo”, those in co-operation with Eleven UP Inc. and Yahoo! Develop for Japan (responsible for advertisement and account): In an asking and a Anwortrunde Camelot closed therefore also a conversion of gulf Daisuki: I Love gulf for a NINT DO hardware out.

Camelot has among other things Shining Force III (Saturn), golden Sun (GBA), Mario tennis: Power route (GBA) and Mario power tennis (office) manufactured.

So, they are not going to make Nintendo games, so they can make a golf game for the PC?

Does any of this make sense?

Nintendo Gaming / Pretty interesting E3 interviews

Falafelkid has finally transcribed his interviews. They are all pretty mediocre. They would be better had he posted the full interviews of each, but instead it's just excerpts from five or so different interviews.

It's still interesting though....

Satoru Iwata:::
After all, Wii is a console that can be connected to the internet 24 hours a day with minimal consumption of power. In the near future we can reveal what it can do and then you can understand many secrets behind the Wii machine.

Hopefully we don't have to wait long. WiiConnect24 could be very useful when supported by the right applications.

Nintendo Gaming / 5 new games to be announced!
« on: July 31, 2006, 09:35:08 AM »
Though GoNintendo is unsure whether these will be first party, third party, or a mixture of both, they are sure that at least 5 new games will be announced at Leipzig.

Quote

The official magazine Nintendo of France has announced that Nintendo is planned to show off 5 brand new Wii titles at the event. It is unknown if these titles are direct from Nintendo, or are 3rd party offerings. Based on the story so far, these will most likely end up being Nintendo first party titles. Unfortunately, there is no information on anything else regarding these new titles.

Hopefully this is where the big guns come out (though they weren't missing at E3). I'm talking about Capcom and Namco. Where are their games?

Kid Icarus or even NiGHTS maybe?

Nintendo Gaming / New Sadness info

Meh...What else is new?

You may remember me describing a game that was pretty similar to Sadness

Originally posted by: Requiem

Because of the way the game is made, you have a couple options. You can either bust the lock with the crow-bar you saw in the house, or you can grab a stick and bust the window out. Each option works, but one maybe a wiser decision (climbing through a broken window may be detremental to your health).

On another note - there would be no HUD.

Well now it's VERY similar to sadness...

Quote

Sadness will not have any in-game menu system or HUD. Unlike pretty much every other game on the market, Nibris is attempting to amplify the horrific aspects of their game by making the world as realistic and immersive as possible. This also corresponds to the in-game usage of the Wiimote. "We are aiming at completely intuitive behaviour of the player - just as in life. Every choice a player makes is essential - if you experience traumatic events in your life, they are with you all the time. This will be the same in Sadness. We want the player to feel that he is participating in events, not merely playing a game," says Piotr Bielatowicz, game designer. The Wiimote is going to be a key element in elaborating on this gameplay goal: operations using the Wiimote will be completely intuitive. If there is an item in the environment, such as an umbrella, the player need only reach out with the Wiimote and grab that item. The player can then manipulate that item realistically through motioning with the controller. This should provide players with a whole new level of involvement in the actions of the game's characters. As a further effort to heighten the realism of the game, Nibris has said that they will be employing a save system that will be completely invisible to the player.

General Chat / Stupid things you've done while intoxicated
« on: July 17, 2006, 10:36:47 AM »
If you are of the legal drinking age (or have a friend who is), I'm sure there's been at least one moment you can recall (notice how I didn't say remember) where you:

A)) Completely made an ass of yourself

B)) Passed out somewhere halarious

C)) Did something halariously stupid

D)) Made out with some obscenely fat/ugly chick (not hatin on fat/ugly chicks or anything)

or E)) All of the above.

This weekend, for me, was one of those moments.

After drinking delicous beer (2 coolers full) and gulping down harsh liquour (4 1/2 gallons), my friends and I were trashed (a total of 12). It didn't help that we were in the hot sun all day, swimming in a lake and jumping off my friends boat. Actually it was because of that that we almost passed out before we even headed to town (I definitely could have passed out; in fact, I had to go outside and juggle a ball to keep me awake as I waited for everyone to finish taking a shower).

We split up with our friends and it's me and just 2 of my buddies. We get back into town around 11:00, and after a quick break at my friend's house we head to the bars. After even more drinking (none of which I paid for), we finally decided to chill out at this chick's place.

Now, at this point in time (4:00 a.m.), I had been drinking for an almost 16 hours (I started at 12:00 p.m.). So it wasn't a surprise for me to wake up to my friends looking down on me, as a lay so comfortably..........in the middle of a parking lot.

I don't know why I decided to leave the apartment, or why I decided to curl up behind my friends car; the fact is....I did.

Jeez -- what a day.

Your stories?

I know I know...

There has been a bunch of ramblings and talk about RE, but with no real information. Still, I couldn't stop myself from making this thread, especially after I remembered something great.

Remember the original RE4, you know, the one with ghosts and all; the one that isn't the RE4 we got?

Well I found a video at youtube, and after watching a good deal of it, I can honestly say that this is the type of RE I want for Wii.

Video[/url]

There are two things I don't like about the video though.

One: The mansion is bogus. How many RE's have you played have had a mansion? My point exactly. Keep RE outdoors. There is something scary about being alone inside a scary house, but I think it's even scarier to be outside, alone, and in the dark. Especially since Leon's already equipped with a movable flashlight. Strolling through the woods or some abandoned warehouse would definitely be freaky, especially against a beautiful stary backdrop and a full moon.

Two: The camera and movement is way to apprehensive. Scary things move fast and quick and if you can't react quickly, then your dead. The camera and movement make it impossible to react quickly, and it shows in the video. Also, the aiming feature fails. I need to feel that adrenaline rush, where it's either fight or flight, and to do so, I need to have full control over my movements.

P.S. I love the struggle between Leon and the Zombie. With the Wii, that type of interaction has loads of potential

Nintendo Gaming / Possible uses for the Wii/DS connection

Nintendo Gaming / Dragon Quest
« on: July 03, 2006, 06:43:30 AM »
I know we all saw the trailer, or at least read about, but have we actually discussed how cool this game could be?

As I understand it, the battle sequence of the game allows you to kill your opponent by "slicing" him up with your Wiimote. That's pretty cool, especially since, in an RPG, there is a lot you could do with that.

For instance, let's say you encountered some new creature you haven't encountered before. You start slicing away, thinking he's like the many other enemies you encountered. However, you quickly notice that no matter how many times you slice him, he keeps growing back his lost parts. So you observe your enemy closer, and you realize that there is a discolored spot on his chest. You quickly thrust your Wiimote forward and puncture the spot. Now the enemy growls and moans as one of his appendages turns a deep purple. As most of us would figure out, you have to slice the discolored appendage. And so starts the beginning of the end for the monster....

Now that's one example I came up with off the top of my head. I'm sure Square-Enix has better ideas and that's what gets me excited.

So what do you guys think -- Does this game have the potential to be a hit?

EDIT:

Here's the Link to the 5 second trailer. Click Here

It's so very short, but still, you can see how battling might work.

About Zelda Twilight Princess
They don't know if it will be in two SKU in Europe, or just one with both the GCN and the Wii versions. They're studying right now the cost for the final user and the viability of these options in our continent to make the right choice.

What about the rest of the world? We would all love a double-disc Zelda.

Nintendo Gaming / New Tales game maybe announced for Wii
« on: June 13, 2006, 08:42:04 AM »
Head over to Cubed3 for the source of the following quote:

Quote

With fans of the Tales RPG series eagerly awaiting news on Tales of the Tempest on the DS from Namco, the company's official website indicates a new addition to the bustling franchise will be announced on 20th June, 2006. Could this be the untitled Wii RPG project from Namco-Bandai?

Interestingly enough, Cubed3 brings up the point that Namco has an untitled Wii RPG project. The possibility of this not being on the Wii is slimmer than it being on the Wii.

I guess Wii'll just have to wait and see.

The qoute above = the entire article from the link - so haha to all of those that clicked! Requiem +1

General Chat / World Cup
« on: June 10, 2006, 11:04:41 PM »
I don't know about you guys, but I wakeup at (at least) 9:00 every day just to watch the game.

So far, there have been som exciting matches (especially Ivory Coast vs. Argentina), but you know it's going to get MUCH better. I hope there are some football (seriously, why is American football called football) fans out there doing the same sh!t I'm doing.

You know its weird, Ivory Coast stopped the Civil War, to gather as a country and cheer for their team in the World Cup.

Football (mainly the World Cup) has the power to stop wars and predujice. Simply Amazing.

This is amazing news!

Cubed3

"The positive [aspect] for us is that we haven't been a big player in the Nintendo platform," said president and CEO Paul Eibeler. "The reception that [Wii] received at the E3 show is one that makes us take a real strong look at it. As we grow our sports business, there are opportunities with our sports games to extend them to the Wii system, particularly if you look at baseball, where we have an exclusive arrangement, as well as some of the other sports games that would play extremely well on the Wii product."

For a company that has never supported a Nintendo console, this is very encouraging news! Though I doubt will see GTA, Rockstar's table tennis game sounds destined for Wii debut.

Quote

"...And some of the 2K products will be, [that is,] have an opportunity on the Wii. It's really a late '07, '08 opportunity for us, but it presents an additional revenue stream that we didn't have before."

Still, even with a late release, support from a major western developer is very good news.

General Gaming / PS3 is a computer - GET IT RIGHT!

Just read it here

Clicky

I'm honestly outraged. I knew it was going to happen at some point, but still, i'm pissed. I dont' want game consoles to become upgradeable. The whole reason why game consoles continue to persist is because any game made for it can be played by it. Constrast to the PC where only the latest PC's can play the latest games.

This is bullsh!t!

I'm stickin with the Wii.

Nintendo Gaming / Wii Messager Patent
« on: June 07, 2006, 08:14:10 AM »
Read it here

Published June 6th, 2006. The whole article is interesting and gives you a reminder that Nintendo is working hard. I suggest reading it.

Quote

The messaging service client allows the user to create a list (”buddy list”) of other users (”buddies”) with whom he/she wishes to remain in contact…The connecting user and his/her buddies can then communicate with each other on an individual basis and private chat sessions can be set up. These chat sessions are typically text-based, but it also possible to set up voice over Internet sessions between two users…

This (and the rest of the article) go hand and hand with the WiiPhone and camera ideas. Also, maybe there will be one universal friend code that differentiates your system from everybody else. Maybe something akin to a WiiPhone number?

Who knows if it'll become a reality. Still....it's very interesting.

EDIT:

Quote

According to the patent the system will have a View Associate List, Block List, User Preferences, Profile, Access, Status, Rules list, Alerts and Autostart Alerts. It also speaks about the possibility of a portable game console to use this (DS + Wii? sounds mindblowing).

Whoa. Seems like the DS might get a firmware update when in contact with the Wii.
