Nintendo Gaming / RE: Mortal Kombat: Armageddon coming to Wii in 2007
« on: August 02, 2006, 01:18:00 PM »
Yes the concept works because of the Hammer.  I mean as of right know I know that he can swing a hammer and thats it.  Traditionally in beat'em ups they punch, kick, jump, use environment items.  The hammer has a direct correlation, swinging a controller is like swinging a hammer.  How does this work with the traditional move set?  You can move by the analog stick and use the three buttons to kick, jump, and punch but as you can see in that scheme there is no use of the actual WiiPointer except to add 1 extra button.  A waste.  I personally don't see how the WiiPointer can enhance a game like that without a weapon of some sort.

Edit: I must be getting slow two posts while I wrote this one.

Don't get me wrong but I don't see Beat'em ups and like benefitting from the controller.  I see it making them more complicated hence less fun.  I wouldn't mind getting new beat'em ups but I don't think the Wii controllers new functions would be to great for them.  If you mean using like a Nintendo gamepad then I could definitely see that.

True if Nintendo seriously pushes that many unit in a month time I would be very surprised.  Shoot Nintendo would be very surprised.  Though most of those would have to be in Japan because they be able to come from the factory to market fastest, less shipping time.

Women Prefer Plasma TV over Diamonds

Found this on Google News.  It's sort of interesting what this implies.

Quote

According to Reuters, the survey also found the following:

   * On average, women own 6.6 technology-driven devices while men have 6.9
   * 80 percent of women feel comfortable with new technologies
   * Nearly half of the 1,400 women surveyed perform their own computer trouble-shooting procedures
   * 77 percent of females queried would rather a new plasma TV than a diamond solitaire necklace
   * More than half of the female respondents would pick a plasma TV over a two-day vacation in Florida
   * 86 percent of the woman surveyed said they’d pick a new digital camera over a new pair of designer shoes

Great.  That means Rayman's getting a college education, the best of Medical care, bad food, and a good library.  Though I hear the internet is lacking but soon it should be every cell.

I just got an ad for Verizon that was in Spanish.  I think that it goods to be getting more mainstream adds but it's bad to be getting them in a language different from the forums common language, no offense to anyone.

On the DS thread, Internet being funny I'll come back and link, there is a link to the trailer for FF:III for the DS.  I would personally encourage you to look at that.  In fact I would strongly encourage everyone to take a gander at it.  If You can do that with a DS which is a lot less powerful then all the current systems except the GBA then it gives me a lot of hope for what the Wii is capable of in competent hands.  As I mention there.  The game looks as good as most PS2 games if not better then a lot.  Learned long ago that the proof is in the pudding.

Actually I could see Nintendo surviving even if I lose the bet and heres why.

It seem the general consences(sp?) is that Nintendo's super-hype machine(shm), an exponent of 2 better then there regular hype machine, won't go into effect until after or near the console release.  This may not be the case.  I think Pale could win and Nintendo could do fine IF they start the shm early enough.  Yes, I think an Oct. 2 launch would be ideal but this is not what this is about.  If Nintendo can leave a very long shadow with its shm starting say September they could reach saturation by the time Sony's shm kicks in.  Once the ground is saturated it takes no more water.

Nintendo has actually started a good foundation for this.  Most people you talk with are generally excited about the Wii.  While Sony, well....  This is a good position for Nintendo.   The only thing hurting it is the lack of interaction after a good E3 showing.  After the September announcement Nintendo needs to go and spread the word.  The Fusion Tour is not spreading the word.  After the announcements we should be seeing interviews in places like Times and USA Today.  Get Dave Ramsey or Oprah Winfrey to try it.  If they enjoy it I'm sure many will be curious.  Get Wii demo units or just propaganda into common places like the post office, electric company, banks, etc.  In fact see if you can get a famous Virtual Console character stamp series going with them all doing something with the Wii.  Cereal giveaway things.  Kids Meal toys.  Cola. You get the point.  The idea is that everyone knows about and when something comes up about the PS3 it will be "but what about the Wii?".  People like what they know.

Simply put if Nintendo can generate enough momentum outside of the normal crowd they could pull it off.  If they could further the stereo type that the PS3 is for the Snooby rich kid.  That would help to.  Something they should avoid is trying to sell the Nintendo name and their past successes.  The Wii should be advertised like its the only thing they got.  Not reference the others for strength.  Fact of the matter until its release I advertise the VC as having past games and not be specific in any way shape or form.  I leave that for after the initial launch.  I'm going to end this here I can't thing of a good ending sentence ;p

General Gaming / RE: No SNK games for PS3 to 2009-2010
« on: August 02, 2006, 07:50:19 AM »
Easy money.  Yeah if it's easy this probably means that SNK will support VC.  There holding off on the PS3 because of developement costs and the VC will have only the developement of getting the emulator to work if need be and fixing glitches.  So this bodes well for that possibility.

lol.  This is ironic.  I actually have read some of the announcements.
Wind Waker was 12 bucks at K-Mart.
Rayman 3 is good.  I don't know how old your nephew is.  You might want to play a little to see if the language is ok for him (It lets up after the beginning).
DDR: Mario Mix.  This is actually one of my favorite DDR's.  (I have most of them for the PS2) Not because its particularly great for a DDR but it's a good beginner one and unlike all the others actually has a story mode that mixes things up. Ok, has a story mode period.
Battalion Wars.  If you think he's developed enough for it.
PSO.  What's more fun then killing things? over and over again.
Four Swords.  I enjoyed this game even alone.

I would suggest all of these above.  You know how to read the rankings and use them accordingly but your nephews age would be nice because those might be too advanced.

Kairon welcome to the real college student club.  Ramen is a meal of choice in college and White Rain is you shampoo.  Yes I'm really looking forward to this.  But I'm sort of sad that the Rabbids don't have the fur they have in the little videos and we haven't gotten a new one yet.

Yes.  But the Parents that were going to shell out $600 for there little one can be convinced that the Wii is a more Fiscally sound console and that they themselves might enjoy and not just junior.  That market you could get with some lead time.

"Lets let them design the clothes for the people you barely see them and we save money not paying are artist to do it."
"Brilliant."

I personally think this is a good move for them.  They are third party and they need to remind people and Nintendo of such.  Now this is relatively bread and Butter for them.  Seeing the very Strong launch line-up that Nintendo has said there going to deliver waiting a year or so on your big project that you've worked long and hard on doesn't seems to bad.  The very last thing you want is for it to go unannounced eaten in a swarm of titles.  Plus you get the added bonus of letting other people test the waters so you don't have to necessarily make the same mistakes.
