I think ill get quite a few VC games. I like the idea of having them all on one console, like a gaming jukebox so to speak.

Is a 7 really that bad when it comes to a score? if 5 is completely average, then 7 should be above average and on the verge of a great purchase.

I actually wrote an article about this. Im not one to 'spam' but if anyone wants to take a read heres the link.    www.tendo-gamer.blogspot.com

Its a shame Nintendo hasnt done anything special for TP's release... Also wheres the mainstream hype for Zelda..even WW had a cinema ad.

Miyamoto apparently hand picked the people to work on Galaxy. Is Miyamoto directing?

Theres no real way of knowing till the Wii comes out, although the Wii has to be compatible with games that span two disks. So the swapping issue may already be solved. Although we tried to use my friends action replay on a new cube (about 5 months ago) and it wouldnt work.

Hopefully things like this work on Wii, although some 3rd party will likely release something if it doesnt.

I think there may actually be multiple towns in TP, which will be really cool.

Theres no water level that makes you feel more tense than the labrinyth (Spelling) levels in Sonic the hedgehog 1 on Megadrive. Actually most sonic 2d games with water in them.

That 'doom' sound that starts playing when you have 5 seconds of air left, and your stuck behind a block or when your waiting for the next air bubble to appear. That always made me nervous.

I have the same kind of feelings for Oot! It was absolutely amazing, I still play it every now and then, and I finish it at least once a year. The thing with my experience was that I knew nothing about Zelda when I got the game. I got an N64, Star Wars podracer and Zelda around the middle of 2000. I played podracer for a good few hours and then decided to check out 'this Zelda game'. When I got control of link it was amazing, the lush Kokiri forest the characters, ahh it was really good.

Now up until this point the only console I owned was a Sega MegaDrive, so it took me awhile to fully understand how to play the game. For instance, when the A button said 'attack' I thought that was Links attack.. trying to play a 3D game with 16 bit knowledge..heh it took me about 13-14 goes to kill queen Gohma aswell :S. Although I had a MegaDrive for that long, I did play various games at friends house's. Mainly fighting games and Goldeneye though.

So yah Oot pretty much blew me away in terms of scope, controls, graphics and epicness!! While MM was good, it didnt have the same impact. Neither did WW, although with both of those I found  out quite a bit about them before I played them. This time however, I have tried to keep it to a minimum and I think I will ban myself from the net from the 19th to the 7th. (Aussie Release Date)

The only problem with not allowing the VC controller to not play GameCube games, is that not everyone bought a GCN. So those people will have to try and find a Cube controller from somewhere if they want to play Cube games. Also the design isnt stupid, theres going to be new games being made for VC that arent linked to a system. Likewise with new Wii games, some may use the classic controller instead of the Wiimote. I also think they would be smart to not use the GC pad for Smash aswell, or at least make it interchangable with the VC pad.

Nintendo Gaming / RE:It seems we have a winner...GameCube philes be damned!
« on: November 01, 2006, 07:58:58 PM »
I can see where Ian is coming from, whats the point in getting the Wii one if it isnt truly better than the Cube one.

Well seeing though I played it the other night I can say that the controls work well, the only part that I found a little annoying was the aiming of the bow/arrow. I found it moved a little too easily, but that was only a minor problem I had. And apparently the game has a sensitivity setting so its not going to matter in the end. Using the wiimote for sword slashes is good, although when locked on you still push the A button to do Links double damage attack, which is what I use a lot more than normal slashes in Zelda.

In the end I like the Wii controls, they work well and I think it surpasses the old control scheme even if its only by a small margin. So heres the question, lets just say both control schemes work as well as each other. Now the only decison to make is what will be more fun? From what I played, I can say that using the Wii set up was refreshing, exciting and most importantly FUN! And that makes me consider it the overall winner.

Ian you may want to save your money till something like Mario Galaxy etc comes out, but I think its worth it to experience Zelda on the Wii. The controls dont feel tacked on, and Nintendo has done a fine job with translating it over to Wii. Mario 64 DS this is not.

lol whoops..I was actually going to say something, then I decided not too. I didnt realise I hit the quick reply button. :S

Anyway, saying Mario 64 DS is any less of a good game than Mario 64 is kinda stupid. If Mario 64 had been released as the DS version from the start back in 96, would it still have been as ground breaking? Yes definitely! Its just that people seem to hate the controls in the DS version..I finished the game with the thumb strap, it worked well after about 20 mins of getting used to it. Also the 64 version was the one people played first so it has that nostalgic charm.

(Btw I didnt just edit my blank post, because I didnt want to destroy the original vison.)
