it's crap, no developer likes developing on the PS3 development kits and it's really difficult hardware to write code for

Goldeneye would look a lot better running on the Wii verses an N64 cause the resolution would be higher and there would be progressive scan.  With these two improvements I think it can be revived and you could have some more fun out of it.

If Nintendo were to do online voice chat right....there is only one way they can do it, and that is with a blu tooth headset.

Any other way would be a disaster.  They took this long to bring us online gaming, and took even longer to bring us voice chat, they have to do it right and give us a wireless headset.

I agree, I never thought the .bin extension ment anything other than thats the extension they chose.  I did do some messing around and tried to take a content.bin file and stick in the the "wrong" directory to see how the Wii would respond to it.  It did see the data, but it put a big question mark on it.  It allowed me to copy it, but then when it tried, it would say it did not copy.

Has anyone tried to copy a VC game from someone elses console to see what it says or if it even registers.  I often wonder myself if my shop channel account was deleted off my Wii, if it would somehow assign a different "code" to my Wii for all future games.

The story does say that Goldeneye was going to be re-worked, and remade (probley with some updated graphics too) for XBLA.  It also said something about Xbox Live support for multiplayer

I would guess it will get a similer treatment that Double Dragon got when we saw it come to XBLA

Well, one of the questions I kinda wondered if other peoples VC games were givin the same directory names or if the 2 out of 4 letters would be different from console to console on the same VC game

If your like me you avoid creating new threads as much as possible but this I thought could use it's own.
A thread to discuss the tech workings and discoveries of the Wii hardware and software, my contribution is as follows

The other day I started a process of backing up all my VC games to my computer's hard drive, and incase there someone who's unfamilier with the file system on the Wii, i'll briefly state.  When you copy data ( game saves of Wii channels) the Wii will store them on your SD card in this fashion, G:\private\wii\title\FDQE\content.bin     where "content.bin" is the actual game and emulator of your VC game and "FDQE" is the directory in which that game and only that game resides.  So if you have 5 games on your SD card, you have 5 different folders labled with 4 capitalized letters.  It should be noted that if you copy the content.bin file to an SD card and it's not in this directory structure, the Wii will not see the file at all and therefor you can't copy it.  If you try to back up your games like I did you should take not of this and make sure you have a system set up so you can retreive and use your games again if need be.

Well, I myself am now up to 27 VC games, but when I started the back-up process I noticed a pattern.  Something I don't think anyone has talked about or really givin much attention to.  That is the 4 letter labels given to the directory in which ever game resides, I have laid out all the ones I own, and you will quickly see a pattern.  It appears that all NES games start with the letter "F", SNES - "J",N64 - "N" Genisis - "M",and T16 - "P" ( i don't own any Neo-Geo so I have no clue about it).  The only other thing I have noticed is that all my games end with "E"...except one, Mario lost levels which is an import and givin the letter "N".  Now, by the math, that means that every system can only have 676 games, and across 6 systems it 4056 games....which is a lot to me.  This probley shouldn't be a worry since I think every system had less than 676 games released on it (think NES had the most).  However, I do wonder about WiiWare, could WiiWare be limited in the games it can release?

Nintendo is taking the "bring on the games" approach of the PS and PS2: if you've got it and it works, release it. That's one reason that the number of VC games dwarfs anything that XBLA and PSN can accrete, and one reason why Wii Ware will basically have no screening for concept or quality, just for bugs and an ESRB rating. Obviously Nintendo feels burned by the lack of third-party support the past two generations, and is making a real effort to clear a wide berth for third parties.

Well, you do make a really good point.  However, I do want to point out that there are still some games on XBLA that do suck that no one should buy, such as ecco the dolphin and others I just don't care for.  I do think it's kinda cool the guidlines Microsoft has for it's Arcade games.  You have to be able to download a demo of it, which is the full game it's just locked until you buy the whole game.  When you quit a game, the button that takes you out of the game has to always be the same button, so your not forever trapped in a bunch of screens asking you to buy the game.  I'm not big in anyway on Achievements but every Arcade games has to have 200 pts total in achievements too.

I guess where i'm trying to go on my rant here is, Nintendo needs to give us more than just 2 tiny screenshots of a game.  Now, demo's would be nice but I know it isn't going to happen.  The 30 sec video's they post on their website are nice, but the problem is that sometimes not all games get a video.  Add to that when they do post video of some, like have the video is a menu screen....how the hell can I see what a video game is like when i'm staring at the menu screen?  Would it be that hard to give us more screenshots of these games, or have someone with half a brain do the video capture for the website.

Nintendo Gaming / RE: SD card problem?
« on: January 04, 2008, 05:48:59 PM »
ok, did some playing around and it looks like if the file system is messed up and doesn't have a proper FAT or FAT32 file system.  The Wii will simply just tell you that it can't use the SD card
