TalkBack / RE: PREVIEWS: Transformers: The Game

See, I think the movie will be good because it appeals to Michael Bay's forte, lots of explosions and minimal plot.  Honestly, how can he mess this one up?  Robotic love story?

Though possible, the site has confirmed since it's relaunch that it will be for 1-4 players.  Unlike the msrp, oddly enough, that information is filled in on the right hand side.

Considering the size of the Wii, the easiest solution it to just take the whole system. Especially since your friend will already have all the necessary hookups.  There is a way to get your save onto a system that has never played the game, it's just a pain.  You have to play the game, as to create a local save and letting the Wii know that it's ok use save files from this game.  Then, quit the game, delete that save and replace it with the one from your SD card.
You'll need two memory cards if you both have the game.

So yes, I wish the SD cards acted more like memory cards rather than a backup system.  There must be some kind of security hole they're worried about to treat SD this way.  And by that, I mean Nintendo must be concerned about leaving a back door open to not having to pay for VC games, that's my two cents on it at least.

At least it shows what the upcoming posts will be about, as you can click on a category and it sorts the posts.  It's also interesting that this confirms the game as 1-4 players.  No crazy using Cube and Wiimote combination to get 8, which would have been too small anyway.

Nintendo Gaming / RE: The Name Wii: Why I Don't Like It
« on: May 07, 2007, 11:52:50 AM »
I partially disagree with your logic about the GBA selling despite the DS.  I know of many cases, up until the cheaper Lite came out, where getting the GBA was the better option because of price.  It was, at the time, a $70 price difference between the two units.  Why spend the extra cash when you really just wanted the GBA games?  Just a thought.

As for the Wii, name helped.  It's unoffensive, and that helps a lot when bringing in new people.  It's short and easy to remember.  No more acronyms, butchering of the name, or using words from other systems.

BlkPaladin originally said about getting me a charmander but has since disappeared.  I'm not very far in Diamond, but I'll scrounge up a pokemon to trade for a charmander if you're willing to breed it thatguy.

I was thoroughly defeated by Soup32 last night.  Unfortunately, that's the only battle I got to do, the semester is wrapping up so I wanted to at pop on and see what online battle is like.  A heads up, I do have all of you that have posted here on my list.  Now I just need to get training before you all pull way ahead of me.

Another point of interest about the Wii internet connection, no matter if it's wired or wireless, is that after you update it always seems to reset to wireless connection 1.  My default wireless is my house and so when I'm at college and update, I have to reset it.  It's an odd bug in the OS.

Is it odd that my first thought about this article was, "Why isn't Nintendo doing this itself?"  Think they'd keep a card factory around, lol.  But back to the topic, Twilight Princess cards actually interest me, I'll have to see how they turn out.

I really can't see why it's not possible to leave the bongo controls in place.  Unless they don't want to confuse consumers and send them looking for something they can't find.

If I had to guess, I'd say they're trying to keep it as an even number for playing online.  Power of 2s are awesome.

It's definitely Circuit City, not Target.  Walmart matched CC's price, so I got to pick up Diamond cheap.  Ah, an old addiction.

I see it as two lines of games:
Paper Mario on the consoles
Mario and Luigi on the handhelds
both lines are decedents of Super Mario RPG

After playing SPM for about an hour and a half, I stand by wanting more games like this.  It's very creative.

I'm picking  this up tomorrow, but I would definitely say it's a sequel to the Paper Mario line.  I wouldn't mind seeing another game like this, and that's without even playing it yet.

I just picked this game up yesterday and I regret putting it off for so long.  It is just extremely enjoyable.  I've barely even grazed this game and has me really wanting to import Ouendan.

Nintendo Gaming / RE: Resident Evil

I guess I'm not the only one then that was disappointed by the houses in the beginning of RE4.  Especially right before you meet Luis.  I've just gone through some intense action and there's a huge music suspense building, but all I get is a cut scene, not even an exploration a second floor or basement.
Despite that, RE4 is my favorite Resident Evil and I'm really excited to see what can happen with the Wii.  I couldn't stand the clunky d-pad controls of the older ones.

I love the game and I hated the slalom.  But then I watched this clip of someone getting a perfect slalom run.
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=EM6rm1UOaF8
From watching it, I learned what I was  doing wrong and then proceed to get first place 2 times in a row for the tournament.  I now love the whole game.  I really can't believe I like an EA game this much.  Hopefully, they can keep this level of quality up and even exceed it.

Also, am I the only person hoping for Beetle Adventure Racing to somehow happen on the VC?

Nintendo Gaming / RE: "Save" your progress/VC games
« on: March 03, 2007, 06:00:01 AM »
Mario Kart 64 doesn't have it.  I think it's because the instant save would be large or too easily corrupted because of the number of variables going on at any moment in a 64 game.  Just a theory because we all know of the other things out there.

If so, that is pretty retarded on EA's part.

IS THERE A DISCREPENCY OR NOT?

From what I can tell, it's not that the gestures are wrong, you still make the general shape they show, it's how big and how smooth you make the motion.  The practice screen seems to accept a wider variety for the size of the gestures.  Plus, you don't have the 'excitement' rush that's going on in game to mess you up.  Practice, practice, practice.  That's my advise on it.   Also, EA probably should have tweaked it a bit, but it's not impossible.

I think it depends on if you want to learn to play.  IGN's review is spot on that it's not Wii Sports Snowboarding, it's more of a 'real' game.  (Not that Wii Sports isn't a game, but SSX takes work)

I just picked up the game tonight and I can see how reviewers could be frustrated by the game.  It really does take some dedication to get the controls down but once you do, I think it's a great game.  Thanks to the link that ShyGuy posted, I was able to pick up the Ubertricks without much hassle.  It's really about exaggerating the movements, small versions of the 'drawing' don't really work.  Also, and this I think happen to many people from the impressions I've read elsewhere, is that you HAVE to stop pushing forward on the stick to perform and Uber.  All in all, I'm actually glad I bought an EA game for the first time since Beetle Adventure Racing.  (Yea, that long ago)
