Nintendo Gaming / Wi Fi = DS Live?
« on: May 16, 2004, 09:33:09 PM »
So at the E3 conference Reggie revealed Wi Fi ability.  He said its better than Online, its NoLine.  So how does this work exactly?  Is this DS Live as in Xbox Live?  Service charge?  Voice recognition able to be used as voice chat in game?

Ahhhhhhhhh too many questions, im too excited, I think im gonna pee my pants!  And not to mention the wireless lan that has a 100ft range.

Anyone have some understanding about this plz post!!!!

Nintendo Gaming / RE:The inevitable DS vs PSP debate.
« on: May 16, 2004, 08:41:27 PM »
I am just astonished about the DS.  And im really disappointed with the PSP.

SONY PSP:
1.  PSP has only 10hrs max on full battery for games, 2hrs for movies, and 8hrs for music.  But with SquareEnix and Metal Gear games we all know cinema scenes will cut that 10hr battery life for games to shreds!  By the way the official battery life is 10hrs, I was at E3, sony confirmed it.

2.  PSP has no cover for that giant and beautiful screen.  How is it gonna feel when u buy that $200-$400 PSP only to scratch that screen or even open the box and find it scratched, lol.

NINTENDO DS:
1.  Touch Screen is used very well in Metroid Prime:  Hunters.  When u use your pen u drag the screen to look around (almost like a PC mouse).  Click where u want to shoot, that is exactly how FPS are meant to be played.

2.  100ft wireless lan play!

3.  Wi Fi sounds great but i really don't understand it.  It's like online play but no wires?  How does it work?

4.  Voice Recognition.

For the people that did not go to E3 take my words  Nintendo DS will be a revolution as long as gameplay is important if it isnt then the PSP will sell and we will be playing the same games over and over again, and IMO every generation we are supposed to get inovation and PSP is just not inovative at all.

I really think Nintendo stole the whole show this year at E3 whether it was DS, Zelda, Metroid, or Resident Evil 4.  Nintendo just plain out rocked!

I thought E3 was great, I loved Nintendo's booth area, I wasted most of my time there.  Well technically i wasted most of my time going to 3 different DS theatre showings.  PSP didnt do anything for me, and after seeing the Nintendo Press Conference video and now knowing that the DS will have a 100ft lan and a wi fi lan ability PSP is screwed.  By the way the Sony rep told me at E3 that the PSP comes out in March 2005 and the Nintendo rep says DS is out this year!

Resident Evil was awesome and so was LOZ and four swords was fun as hell.  It was my first E3 and it was so bad ass thanks to Nintendo.  They shined over the whole show.  And im glad as hell that Nintendo hired regular chicks instead of those slutty ass models, jeez i mean some of those girls were ridiculous.

Great show though.

General Gaming / RE:Sega Dreamcast 2????????????
« on: May 06, 2004, 12:54:25 PM »
Totally agree with couchmonkey.  Sega should go exclusive.  Nintendo seems to be the only one that i think they would possibly join.  I wouldn't think they would partner with sony fully because sony is practically what finalized their demise and Sonic wouldn't sell well in Xbox's market demographic.  Nintendo looks to be perfect for them, Sonic would fit perfectly with nintendo and almost all their other game franchises would beat competition easier on GCN than on Sony.

Heck i wish they did this in the first place, maybe i could have had a decent sports game, i just hate it when they go multiplatform, for example all star baseball was so good on N64 and then it went multiplatform and started to suck, mainly because of a handful of glitches.

I dunno EA could prolly use the touch screen as a quick change in audibles or hot routes for madden or maybe target passing control, just hit the spot on the touch screen where u want the ball thrown ahead of the player or if u suck behind the player.  Small enhancement but its better than them just using one screen or having the other screen only to be used as a scoreboard.  I can totally see them using it as a scoreboard ie GCN GBA connectivity with madden 2004.  ughh.

By the way i heard that next years madden won't use the madden name!  I know 2 ppl that work at gamestop (friends) and they say madden is absent in the next one.

I 100% agree. Also, if you can afford it, after upgrading the mobo, cpu, and video card I would make sure I didn't have less than 512MB of RAM. I have 1GB in my system, but that's a little overkill ;-]. Also, what's your current hard drive? After everything else mentioned I would consider upgrading that too. I've almost filled my 120GB drive with home movies.

Well first off thanks for the help guys and second i have about 30gb drive and i really dont need much more space for now.

And is there much of a difference from amd athlon processors and Intel processors?  Last question just in case i go for the video card now also then what is better nvidia or ati?

I was wondering if u guys could help me out with upgrading my PC.  I really don't understand all the stuff on how to upgrade so any help is welcome.

Current PC:
733mhz Pentium III
384mb ram
Geforce 2, 32mb PCI

for one i need a new motherboard with agp slots (currently only have pci slots) but i need it to be compatible with my 733mhz Pentium III processor, and compatible with a pentium 4 processor because i will upgrade to a P4 later when i have the money.  As for now i only want to buy a new motherboard and video card.

Lol there is a rumor that Sega might unviel big news about a possible next system.  Apparently they have mailed out a bunch of letters to people to their special event at E3.  The news note is on gamespot.com rumor control section.

Personally i would think that would be very interesting to see and Micro$oft would be pissing their pants for the japanese market but at the same time i think yeah right like thats gonna happen.

Nintendo Gaming / Wireless Adaptor?????
« on: April 28, 2004, 03:27:39 PM »
Ok i have a question about the wireless adaptor which will be released with Pokemon Fire Red and Leaf Green.

I read in this months issue of Nintendo Power that it acts like a hub and up to 16ppl (i think 16, i know it was more than 8 for sure) can connect.

In the Article it never says how far the connection can go.  Anyone have a clue on this or any other info on the adaptor?

TalkBack / RE:Nintendo Gets Investor Support for GBA
« on: April 28, 2004, 03:14:08 PM »
As much as i dislike Sony, I do want them to be in the portable gaming market.  Competition brings the best out of everyone, and I would just like to say that the Gameboy hardware series IMO has evolved very slowly.  I'm not sure but from what i remember Game Gear had better graphics than Gameboy Color.  I bet Sony will squeeze into the market but i bet there sales will drastically drop after its release and prolly be competing with The Wonderswan in Japan or the regular GBA.

Whatever happens im just glad about the DS because so far it looks like a huge stage of evolution for the portable market I bet this wouldn't have happened if Sony didnt decide to go portable.

I for one hate Acclaim as much as anyone but seriously Mary Kate and Ashley being in the game industry period is just wrong in the first place.  I hope Acclaim is bitch slapped by the judge and Mary Kate and Ashley are told to stand in a corner for um i dunno the rest of their freakin lives!

sweet man, what school r u going to?  I am currently in Art Institute of Phoenix, a lot of the instructors are from Rainbow Studios, man i wish i had some other game studio instructing at my school, but at least they are in the industry instead of some guy who can't get a job in the industry.

Hey does anyone know if the U.S.A has good game development studios?  and where? and how well does the U.S.A compare to Canada's game developers?

TalkBack / RE:Factor 5 Focuses on Next Generation
« on: April 14, 2004, 11:21:38 PM »
I for one am happy to hear this from them.  It gives them extra time to increase production values on the next generations first gen games.  If Rogue leader (1st gen game) still has one of the best graphics to date then imagine what they can accomplish next gen.

I just hope they put some more time on refining gameplay.  I liked Rogue 3 but it was not changed much and the on foot levels are some of the worst designs ever.

By the way what other games do they make besides rogue series?

truly awful news......but in retrospective Nintendo doesnt lose much they just lose exclustivity.  Here's hoping Nintendo can at least get one of those partial exclustivity (couple months exclusiveness).  And i sincerely hope SK some luck because i for one don't think PS2 and Xbox fans would buy thier games due to the adult markets overfilled for both PS2 and Xbox.  Well Best Wishes to Dennis Dyack and the gang at SK!

How exactly would a person be able to go to E3?

I work at a store that sells video games (Sam Goody).

I'm in school trying to get a bachelors degree in GAME ART & DESIGN.

would this be enough in order for me to go?

and would i have to pay?

General Gaming / Xbox Year over Year Growth?
« on: April 01, 2004, 10:44:31 AM »
NPD Funworld stated that xbox was the only console company to have a Year over Year growth......BS and they that Sony had a -22% and Nintendo had a -18%, wtf?

I'm not sure what Year over Year growth is exactly but from what im thinking it is i dont see how Xbox had a postive and Nintendo had a negative growth.  Especially when Nintendo had that price cut and was selling alot.

Here's the link if u want it. (then again it is a Microsoft website)
