Nintendo Gaming / RE: Mario Kart Wii Mega Thread

I think 32 players would be too much for a Mario Kart game. Not speaking technically, just practically. Seems like the track would be too crowded.

32 would be fine for F-zero, because those tracks are wider and smoother.

Yeah, DDR.... there's a manly game with a manly song list. ??

Mario and Sonic run at about the same speed, thanks to those mandatory drug tests.

I think that's a pretty decent list, considering the game's premise. Not objectively great songs, but the sort of goofy fun songs one would expect for a game about dancing.

755
This is still a messed up idea. Obviously Sonic runs faster. Obviously Luigi jumps farther.

It's just... weird is all.

Still, graphics look okay for what it is. DS version looks neat too.

Something along the lines of Tomb Raider Anniversary? A "remake" in the sense that the story and locations are the same, but the game and level designs themselves are basically new? That would work.

I'll admit I haven't played any version of RE yet. Umbrella Chronicles looks the most appealing to me...

I thought there were more, but there are only 12:

Astrosmash™, Bowling, Buzz Bombers, Chip Shot: Super Pro Golf, Frog Bog, Hover Force, Night Stalker™, Pinball, Shark! Shark!™, Skiing, Snafu™ and Thunder Castle

There are a few Intellivision games on GameTap, but I haven't found them to be a whole lot of fun. Any recommendations of good ones?

I don't think it'll be quite like that. There's a broad spectrum, sure, but not a clear line between "cartoon" and "real" like there is in that movie. Fox looks a bit more real than Wario, and Wario looks a quite a bit more real than Pikachu, even though all 3 of those characters might be considered "cartoonish." Similarly, Link has a bit more of an anime style than Snake, but their proportions are still similar. I think the textures and shading also help to mask the differences in style.

I mean, you can already see them standing together in screenshots. It doesn't look weird to me, at least, no weirder than Melee, and no weirder than it should. Does it look that weird to you?

Yoshi is one of my favorite puzzle-type games. Not so much that I intend to buy it on VC, and it's not the best overall, but it's still a lot of fun. It's a good game for a TI-83 calculator.

And a castle!

Is the castle, like, invisible to everyone but me?

Err.. the blue thing is a house. The big brown thing on the left is a castle. Or maybe a cathedral.  I agree the resemblance still isn't that great.

Interesting that this version of the Eldin Bridge doesn't have the uhh... "railings" or whatever that the original did. I guess that would make the scale issues a lot more obvious.

Oh, that's right.

I guess because Final Destination was so round, it didn't look flat the way this one does.

And Shecky, don't forget that not only is this a stone bridge, it's also near a castle. :p It's a mildly interesting coincidence.

It would actually be pretty awesome to mail a translated version of Mother 3 to NOA.

Yeah, I think it's a fair comparison.

I wonder how Smash Bros will play on a totally flat, almost Street-Fighter-like level. Should be interesting.

Please, he didn't have anything to do with that game.

He did, on the other hand, have a tangential connection to the game The Neverhood, which is good enough for me to have vague hope about this game, until I hear more about it.

Good point. Personally I think they should start expanding beyond the boundaries of Hyrule in future games.

My hope was actually that they'd put Hyrule from OoT in the center of the map, and expand around it. That would combine continuity and nostalgia with a more expansive and original world.

Yes it was.

I think the reason for the differences is that Twilight Princes made the whole world bigger, so the distances between things is different.

I like the pretty boxes. Still, I put all my games in a pouch, and all the cases in a plastic bag. Don't know what I'll do with them, really. They're useful when I lend a game to someone.

You know what I think would make TP better? If the 3 "extra dungeons" between the Gerudo Desert place and the endgame levels were cut out from the story, and left as "bonus dungeons." I think that'd improve the pacing of the game a ton, since it was those 3 dungeons that basically happened without any real storyline.

When the first Smash Bros came out, the 4 secret characters were profiled in Nintendo Power a couple weeks beforehand, I believe.

Not too relevant, I know. But man, that picture of Luigi had a giant head.

TP didn't beat OoT, but it was a worthy sequel. Not much need to go into more detail.

I'd imagine that at this point, most of the game's demographic don't even know about the game yet. For better or worse.
