General Chat / New Metallica Album: St. Anger *UPDATE*
« on: March 19, 2003, 06:33:44 PM »
Thanks MetalHead666. Wanted to add that Lars had some interesting comments in a recent radio interview.

Lars said some song titles are:  St. Anger (of course), Frantic, All Within My Hands, and Dirty Windows. Also there will be 11 songs on the album all between 7 and 8 mins long. He also mentioned that one of the lyrics for St. Anger (the song) are, "'I hang myself, St. Anger around my neck." Something that I thought was very cool is that he said they are definitely considering having Pushead do the art for the album cover.

Nintendo Gaming / Remakes
« on: March 19, 2003, 05:11:17 PM »
ZELDA ZELDA ZELDA

I realize we have already gotten ALttP ported over but The Legend of Zelda and The Adventures of Link really need to be ported and it would definitely be good if they receive graphical and sound updates. It would really be nice if they would port both of the original games as well as having the updated versions all on the same cart.

I definitely agree that the Metroid series needs the port and update treatment as well. Actually Super Metroid could just be ported over like ALttP was but the first two definitely need an updating as well as ports of the original games.

Nintendo Gaming / Metroid Remakes... COME ON NINTENDO!
« on: March 19, 2003, 05:04:42 PM »
I would really like to see remakes of Metroid and Metroid II on a GBA cart using the Metroid Fusion graphics as well as redoing the music and sound effects. It would be nice to have save rooms and things like that added in Metroid as well. It would also be nice if they included the original versions of the games on the same cart. I think it would probably be best if Super Metroid were on its own cart though.

I don't know how long the battery lasts but I'm sure if you even could replace the battery that when you did so you would lose all of your save info any way. I know that on the NES carts saves would only last like 5 yrs. At least that was what one of the warnings in the game manuals would say. I'm sure things are a lot better than that now.

This is supposed to be a game with a dark and seedy atmosphere so I don't think having prostitutes in it is inappropriate. Also I thought this was supposed to be set in a modern time setting. In one of the pics at IGN it shows a morgue with what looks like a cop in it.

That whole thing was an insult period. The boys at nintendojo.com are idiots. Once and a while they get some interesting news and their forums are pretty good but any time they have an editorial it's just turns into a complete embarrassment for them since they are always based on outright lies, BS, rumors, and fanboy crap and are almost always completely pointless. Hell, even the nintendojo.com regulars bitch about them.

Well it's just that a lot of people spell it that way on purpose and then make arguments that that is how it has always been spelled. If it was a mistake then my post doesn't apply to you.

This was corrected in later Zelda games, but I guess the people who really got into LoZ just have a natural habit of spelling the names with 2 n's instead of one.
I realize that and did address it in my post. I don't really see it as a good excuse though seeing as how it was spelled with 3 Ns in a fairly obscure place (the in game intro) and was spelled with two Ns in the manual and in every game and manual since.

I've had people try to tell me that it was spelled Gannondorf in the A Link to the Past manual even though it wasn't. That's what gets on my nerves when people try to say that's how it's actually spelled. Again Omen if it was just a mistake and you don't actually believe that's how it's spelled I'm sorry.

Sorry for getting off topic but I have a question. Why do some people spell it Gannondorf instead of Ganondorf the way it is supposed to be spelled? I really don't understand this and it annoys me to no living end. The only time it has ever been spelled Gannon was in the in game intro for The Legend of Zelda. It was a mistake though because even in the manual for the game it was spelled Ganon and in every game and manual since then it has been spelled with only two Ns. It's very similar to how in the in game intro for Metroid Zebes was spelled Zebeth while in the manual it was spelled Zebes and has been spelled that way in every Metroid manual and game since then. You don't see people spelling Zebes "Zebeth" though do you? So why do people spell Ganon or Ganondorf with 3 Ns?

But they said to call back early next week, and they have the SP there (just to hold, its just a model, life-size though), I never noticed how frickin small it is!
That's weird because my brother said it was large. When he said that all I could think is, "What the hell". I think maybe he's just pissed that they came out with a new one with a light less than a year after he bought his daughter a GBA.

Anyway if EB is doing that $40 off trade in deal I'll definitely be getting a SP. That means I'll only be paying $60 for it. I honestly don't care about keeping my GBA and have actually been wanting to get a new one since before the SP was announced.

For those of you concerned about the small size of the SP I think this would be a definite solution.

Exactly. For all we know that could be why Metallica is touring with them.

I wanted to let you guys know that www.allmetallica.com has a new sample up. Well actually it's a collection of samples with Shadows of the Cross, Dead Kennedy Rolls, and some stuff heard on the Jump in the Studio (JITS) videos. Just click here and download the St. Anger Studio Mix sample. You can listen to some vocals that was from one of the JITS videos by skipping to 00:39. It's just a short clip but still nice. The most important part though is a new riff that starts at 1:09. Listen to that sick sh!t. This album is going to kick ass. By the way that riff is from one of the latest JITS videos in which Rob and the rest of the band were jammin on Battery, Master of Puppets, and New Sh!t (that's what it's called in the video).

By the way if you want to join JITS just click here and sign up. It's part of the official site and is more than worth the couple of minutes it takes to sign up. Lots of videos, pics, and other things from the studio (hence Jump in the Studio). By the way the video with the new riff is 4 horsemen if you want to watch it. Another good one to watch is the Truheeo video since they jam on Hit the Lights!

EB will probably have some deal but it will probably be something crappy like this: Trade in a GBA with 20 GBA games and 10 X-Box games to get a SP for $70. Small Print- GBA must be pink and all games must be brand new and made by Nintendo.

I don't mean to sound rude but don't you think it would be best to actually ask EB if they have any deals. I had heard though that there was a store that was offering a deal that if you gave them your GBA they would take around $40 off the SP. I don't remember if that was at EB or another store though. As far as the box I don't think they care about it.

Nintendo Gaming / How does the Gameboy Player work?
« on: March 12, 2003, 05:14:46 PM »
Yeah, if it was an emulator they may run into problems with it not being compatible with later GBA games. Using the actual GBA hardware ensures that all games will be 100% compatible with the GB Player.

Well I've already done half of what I was planning on doing. I wanted to beat the bonus disk version of Ocarina and Master Quest but while I have beaten Ocarina I haven't beaten Master Quest. It's mainly because once I finished Ocarina I was pretty crapped out from the game and just haven't had an urge to play Master Quest. I have beaten the Deku Tree dungeon in Master Quest but that's as far as I've gotten. I really doubt I'm going to play any more of Master Quest for a while though since the Wind Waker is so close to being released. I want to starve myself of Zelda so that when Wind Waker is released I'll be ready to go for a brand new adventure.

Nintendo Gaming / P.N. 03 & Soul Calibur 2 scores
« on: March 12, 2003, 10:02:24 AM »
From my understanding Dorimaga gave Metroid Prime a 7,8,8. So just because P.N. 03 got a low score doesn't mean it's a bad game. Reviews are helpful but they shouldn't be taken as the final word. If everyone took Dorimaga Metroid Prime's score seriously they would have missed out on a truly excellent game.

Nintendo Gaming / calling all gba sp owners!
« on: March 10, 2003, 07:22:36 AM »
Hey, since you guys have the SP tell me how it feels when you hold it. I have big hands and despite that most people with big hands seem to prefer the GBA's design I never liked it. Since you are basically holding the thing with your fingers only mine would cramp up after a few minutes of play. I have never really like the old GB's design either so I am a little concerned about the SP.
