Nintendo Gaming / RE: When does it all come together?
« on: March 07, 2004, 04:40:39 PM »
There's no specific amount of time between each new Link. A new Link just comes whenever Ganondorf is threatening Hyrule.

I see the time line as being something like this:

OoT>WW>>LoZ>AoL>ALttP>LA
\/
MM

Unfortunately I have no real idea where the Oracle games go. They more than likely take place somewhere around ALttP though.

That's the one I go with, but here's another one that's more popular:

OoT>WW>ALttP>LA>LoZ>AoL
\/
MM

The key connections to look for is what's going on with Ganondorf and the Triforce. Using those two things you can connect the series together pretty easy.

I've got a plain old Starfire sword for practice combat.

Well, I wasn't totally sure.

Did the the guy from Castle Keep say anything about it? I mean, did he know it was from a video game and stuff, or did you just send in the pic, he made it, end of story?

You should tell Nintendo about this as well, if you haven't already.

By the way, this is a real sword, right? I mean you can kill people with it can't you? If you wanted to that is.

That is most definitely cool. I've always wanted a replica of the Master Sword ever since I first played ALttP years ago. How much did that cost you anyway?

The creature in the E3 video is the same kind of Space Pirate that is in Super Metroid and Zero Mission.

End of story.

My biggest complaint is that it was just way too damn short. I beat it in two days for crying out loud. Also the last area in the game felt a little tacked on and was anti-climatic. I also didn't really see the point of it besides trying to extend the length of the game. Some people are trying to say it connects the game with Metroid Prime but I really don't see how it does that. The new gameplay element was pretty fun though.

Besides that I really enjoyed the game. It was a huge improvement over Fusion and its linearity. I can't believe the amount of sequence breaking in this game. It's like R&D1 made this game for sequence breakers.

On the subject of special editions, I think some of you will find this thread at theforce.net boards very interesting. Especially you Lord of the Rings fanboys (yes, you Ian Sane). It basically shows that George isn't the first person to tinker with their work for better or worse after its initial release. Make sure you scroll down to the 7th post for more examples.

Crap! I just realized that when it asked me to pick a profile the one shown was probably my Firebird one. For some stupid reason I deleted it to make my own. What makes this even more stupid is that you can rename the profiles meaning I didn't need to delete it to use my name. My only excuse is that I didn't realize that it was my Firebird one at the time and just assumed it was a new one.

The sad thing is that I've seen most of those complaints Termin8Anakin listed and written in almost the same way.

My only real complaint with the SEs is the Greedo shooting first thing. No, it has nothing to do with changing Han's character but just the fact that the scene looks so stupid now. How could anyone manage to miss a target sitting 5 feet across from them by about 3 feet? Also I wasn't too happy about how the CG Jabba looked in A New Hope. I was hoping they would make a new one for the long rumored Archive Editions but those rumors seemed to be debunked now. Oh and like I said in my first post I was disappointed there wasn't more special effects improvements.

It's kind of funny. but I don't really remember anyone complaining about the Special Editions until after the prequels started coming out. Of course from the very beginning most people didn't like Greedo shooting first, but other than that everyone seemed to like them.

This is pretty big news considering people have been waiting for these movies to be released onto DVD for years.

Official press release.

This is going to piss some of you off but only the Special Edition versions will be released on DVD. George has said that as far as he is concerned the SEs are the only version that exist since that's the way he always wanted the films to be. Despite what many of the "OMG!!! George raped my childhood" bitchers have to say I feel George has every right to do this. He is the creator of those movies after all. Personally though I am a little disappointed we won't be getting the originals for comparisons sake and the fact that they are historically significant when it comes to movies.

My real disappointment though is that apparently there won't be any further changes to the films. Frankly I didn't really want anymore new scenes added but I was hoping that the special effects would be furthered fixed to be more consistent with the prequels. Actually I did want one scene change. I was hoping they would've had  Ian McDiarmid replace the monkey eyes/old woman Emperor in the Empire Strikes Back. Yep, the Emperor in the Empire Strikes Back is a composite shot of a monkey's eyes and an old woman wearing a hood. Oh and the voice of Clive Revill.

One of the coolest features I just found is that if you double click on a typed address it will automatically take you to the website even if it isn't hyper linked. This is really nice for places like the gamefaqs.com boards where you can't hyper link. Instead of having to go through that whole process of copying and pasting you can just double click on it. Makes things a lot easier when there are multiple addresses.

I am having a bit of a problem though. For some reason my passwords won't show up when I click on the "View Saved Passwords..." thing in the options. The passwords do work I just can't see them. Kind of a pain when trying to remove old passwords since I have to do it in the signons.txt file. Anyone know how to fix this?

Well, I for one love it. It's a lot faster than 0.7. I'm also glad they fixed the issue with .wmv files not loading properly.

Only problem is that I didn't set it up right and it erased all my bookmarks and passwords. Damn it!. Lucky I had all that stuff backed up on a disk but I sill lost my most recent bookmarks and passwords. Oh well. Oh and the extension page is too busy to get on right now and I lost all of those as well.
