General Gaming / RE: Is this E3 make or break for the GC?

"The general public is stupid and blind, it doesn't notice good deal/product if they were hit on the head."

This comment is such a crock of chit.

What is a good game to you may be crap to someone else. I think Zelda was a boring crap fest, I prefer GTA vice city as I founf it more fun to play. Video game likes and dislikes are not about intelligence, they are simply preferances. Why does everyone who disagrees with the eliteist Nintendo fanboy attitude always get called stupid.?

I use to buy every NIN game because I knew I would like them. I dont any more because their games have become a big dissapointment to me. I owe Nintendo nothing.

Mouse

I read your post and I dont see how anyone can possibly think this a joke, unless they are seriously delusional.
Sk is gone. If this was a friendly split and SK was still going to make games for NIN they would have said so. I see Dennis as trying to break this as softly as he can, hence, the we "may" still make make NIN games.
I honestly believe what Ian said earlier to be true. Dennis must have seen what Iwata has planned and decided he liked the lifeboat better than the bucket.
Trying to put a positive spin on this just isnt doable, and hoping its a joke is simply unrealistic.
I also agree with the omen in that I believe that Sony has gobbled up SK and that SK is simply waiting for Sony to release the news as the bigger company usually does.
Any way you slice it, this is horrible news for Nintendo, especially when you add in the fact that Nin is no longer the force they once were on the console end of gaming. It is news like this that will eventually lead to their demise.
What I think will happen next is this:
- Sony announces SK an exclusive 2nd party
- the announce Too human for PS2 and a game for the PSP
- NIN will say this isnt a big deal

Time will tell

"33% more than PC games isn't peanuts. "

$50 for a game that lasts 10 hours is peanuts in comparison to every other form of entertainment.
Get over it.

" I'll get right on getting F'N real. ^_^ I'm glad you're always objective and look for the most wellrounded viewpoint,"

Are you for real? Objective? Since when is living in a fantasy world wishing for a differant outcome of a known fact considered objective?
Your stance on Nintendo is as far from objective as anyones I have ever read.
Again the pot calls the kettle black.
THis however is not the point of the thread, and I was simply staing my point of view, one which I do not need to justify to you.
In short, I think this will hurt nintendo huge, I also think the current team runnign nintendo couldnt be more out of touch with the reality of the gaming world.

Say whatever you will, hope all you want, this is over.

Comparing this to rare is like comparing a great sandwich to a moldy piece of bologna.
Rare was a washed up has been developer when they left, SK is in their prime.

This is a big FU to the north american fanbase from Iwata.

If this is SK's doing I dont blame them at all. After hearing Iwata speak, I would try to distance myself from that nut job as well.
Iwata is going to be the downfall of Nintendo, on the NIN tombstone they will write, "thanks Iwata".
Iwata fails to realize that other companies have good games as well, and that his companies games no longer have anywhere near the impact they once had. This man is so out of touch with the North American market, that if this is Nintendo's doing, again I wouldnt be suprised either.
If they dont think this will hurt their sales in the long run then they all need to give their heads a shake.
As for all the people who think this is a joke. GET F'IN REAL. SK is done with NIN, plain and simple. They "may" make games still. Translation "we will never work with these clowns again".

HAve fun debating this folks, IMO this is an open and shut case.

I would love to see SK games on the x-box, however I believe it will be Sony.
I really think this would be good for SK as well.

Well it looks like my last and only reason to buy Nins next system has flown the coop.
I guess I will be playing ED2 and Too Human on my X-box.

General Gaming / RE: Xbox Year over Year Growth?
« on: April 02, 2004, 01:21:20 AM »
year to year growth simply refers to increased sales fron the previous fiscal year.
example

year 1 - 2000 units sold
year 2 - 2200 units sold
year 3 - 2500 units sold

This is actually a good sign for MS. On a side note, it would be nearlt impossible for Sony to accomplish this as they sold such a large number of units in year 1.

General Gaming / RE: DDR for a beginner.

Well, we went and bought the X-box version on Friday Night (DDR Ultramix). My Wife and I have never played this before, even in the arcade, so we had no idea what we were in for.
THIS GAME IS THE HARDEST I HAVE EVER PLAYED, and one on the most fun.
In the first hour we learned that we have little to no coordination, and apparently have no ability to get any.
We still are in training mode, and have finally moved up to speed 2 in light mode and I still have trouble getting better than a B most games.
To top it all off, my legs hurt like hell this morning.

Nintendo Gaming / RE: "The Trouble With Nintendo"
« on: March 25, 2004, 08:54:23 AM »
"Casual gamers are the leaches on gaming society. And as non jagged pointed out, nintendo will never appeal to these half breed shmucks because that's not what nintendo does. They don't collate and rehash and make decisions just for sales. . "

That statement is pure lunacy. I have played games since they first game out in home console forum. I am 33 years old, and play nearly everyday. I have played every Zelda game, every mario game, and own all 3 current gen consoles. I didnt like Zelda, I found it very drawn out and boring, in fact I havnt really liked any of the Zelda games, they just arent my cup of tea. I loved every Mario, up until sunshine. I couldnt  stand that game, and have tried playing it on many occasions in the hope of changing my own mind, it just didnt happen. My favorite games are usually sports titles. I also really like shooters and racing games (non futuristic). I think GTA3 and Vice city are both better games than Wind Waker. I love Halo, and I love grand turismo.
I spend a lot of money on gaming and I dont base my descisions on what anyone else thinks. I play what I like and I dont play what I dont like, regardless of how good other people think it is. I am both a hardcore gamer and a casual gamer.
A lot of recent nintendo games havent appealed to me, so by your reasoning and non jaggeds (therapy anyone) I must be a schmuck. Did it ever cross your mind that I might just not like the games for what they are? That I just didnt enjoy playing them? If someone likes games with violence in them, why do you automatically assume they are immature casual gamers? I  find it hillarious to play violent games, I honestly find it a lot of fun. I played Manhunt the other day for the first time, and loved plastic bagging someone, I thought it was a blast. I am not a lunatic, I can seperate games and movies from reality.
I just enjoyed the game, I had fun playing it. So if you think I am schmuck, so be it. Just be sure to hide the plastic bags

That is pure crap. Again you try to come accross as the be all end all of videogame knowledge.

" Those "this is realtime" videos are utter BS. Of course, that's possible if you don't have a game running at the same time, but nobody will make a game that demands a top-end graphics card or put that much effort into something."

Never say never, the way tech advances now a days, anything is possible.

"However, the XB isn't the dominant console"

I honestly think it will be one day, just simply because Bill Gates is hell bent on it happening. Love him or hate him, the man had a freaking way of getting what he wants.

General Gaming / RE: Grand Theft Auto Vice City in widescreen
« on: March 25, 2004, 01:34:34 AM »
On the X-box version I have (DOUBLE PACK) I need to set the dashboard to 4:3 to get it to play in widescreen, when the dashboard is set at 16:9 it plays in 4:3 mode. Looks like someone programmed in the wrong command along the way.

hmmmm, you are correct. I know I cant stretch HD sattalite, it always reverts to NATURAL mode. I never looked at X-box in the same light when I should have. ALl my 720P games are WS so I have never had to think about it.

General Gaming / RE: Xbox II prototype?
« on: March 23, 2004, 08:27:49 AM »
Mouse,

Then why the obsession with the size when it doesnt factor into gameplay one bit? Since that is all that matters to Nintendo fans then they shouldnt even notice the size of the console or care. I agree they arent complaining, they are finger pointing, something many of them accuse PS2 and X-box fans of all the time, and call them idiots for. The freak out when an x-boxxer calls the cube a lunch box, so isnt this the same thing?

"Of course there isn't a true widescreen option when you're running in that mode either."

thats ok, the Toshiba I have has the BEST stretch modes available. TW1 stretch looks as if it were true widescreen.

"Well, I did say "some"! Although a buddy of mine's got it for the XBOX, and he was playing it on 720p and I did notice some choppiness over my Cube version. We bumped it down to 480p and voila - the framerate drops went away. At least for that game it's a trade-off, it looks fantastic in 720p, but there are some hiccups, especially on throws to the plate from the outfield. At least from what I saw."

I have to admit I rarely notice frame rate drops unless they are signifigant such as in TRUE CRIME.

"And, erm, is there any noticeable difference between DD and DPLII"

yes, there is a huge differance., and with high end recievers and speakers those differances are magnified even greater.
Sound is clearly delivered to the intended speaker, giving a true sense of direction that the sound is coming from, again on a good system this makes an enormous differance.

"720p and 1080i are higher resolutions, which is why in some XBOX games there is a performance hit when using these modes."

I have never noticed such a hit. I played MLB 2004 all night Saturday in 720P and played flawlessly smooth with a picture quality that blew everyone who was over away.

Who gives a crap how big it is. I dont wear the f'in thing on my wrist or attemp to shove it places I shouldnt. It sits in my entertainment unit, with my reciever (twice the size) my HD sattalite box (just as big) and DVD player (slightly thinner). When it comes to the cube everyone goes on and on how looks dont matter. They scream "ITS ALL ABOUT THE GAMES" yet all they do is bitch about the size of the X-box. This is truly a hypocritical bunch.

" If we compare the size of the drive with the rest, the thing is either f###ing big or uses minidiscs"

How can you say that from the pictures? maybe it is top loading? And who the hell cares how big it is. You complain when people bitch that the cube is purple but then bash the X-box because its big. Kind of hypocritical.
