TalkBack / Re: Circle Pad Pro Battery Life Revealed
« on: December 09, 2011, 11:47:39 AM »
At first I figured the circle pad would just run off of the 3DS's battery itself, (guess not).
It uses the IR port for communication. The 3DS wasn't designed with external electrical connections, so this was the best option.

I used it at Starbucks today. I'll try to get impressions up this weekend.

For me a big part of videogames is acting out a fantasy.
I'm glad I'm not limited by that want. Gaming would be a much sadder place.

I haven't used the Drawsome tablet, so I can't compare, but the uDraw uses radio tech much like a Wacom tablet, so it's quite precise and responsive.

Plus, the tech is newer and the touch panel seems like it will be more precise and responsive.
More precise and responsive than what? The uDraw tablet?

I don't get what their fear is. The WiiWare demos were a big success.

But the refrigerator itself is not what would be getting rated for power.

Refrigerators don't transmit radio signals.

I don't think low-power and short-range mean what you think they do. I think it's more in line with what you'd expect in any sort of consumer device as opposed to, say, a radio tower.

I stopped by Best Buy back in June just to check it out and got a coming soon page added to my Nintendo Zone. I haven't been back since.

The point of this music player is just for Mii Plaza songs. You can play your own music files in the Nintendo 3DS Sound app (MP3 or MP4). Of course, you can't play them while in a game.

Yeah, Java runs as slow as molasses. Its meant to run on any and all architectures so its not optimized in any way.
It's optimized, but in such a way as to use up a ton of memory (due to the way it does garbage collection).

They were already publicly hiring for Wii U development. There's no doubt they're working on something.

Some of those achievements look to be impossible for the average person to get (for example, how would you get 100 StreetPass encounters in 1 day unless you go to something like E3 or PAX?).
Live in a Japanese city.

All I get is "An error has occurred. Unable to update. The system will now be restarted." I'm not sure if their servers are getting pounded or what.
EDIT: started slowing downloading after five tries.

My shitty 4 year old outdated computer barely runs Minecraft on 2gb of RAM.
Blame Java. It eats RAM. That's not a good comparison to what would normally run on a console.

There's a conference this week covering the upcoming memory technologies, including the 3D stacking and much cooler stuff, though if it's showing up there, that implies that it's not ready for commercialization yet.

Kmart has 5% off customer appreciation today on games, so I was able to use that plus my $20 credit from Zelda, and got another $15 credit for buying Mario 3D Kart.
