Nintendo Gaming / RE:memory card backup
« on: March 31, 2005, 04:45:52 PM »
It doesn't matter which files it contains - it should still work by transferring.

First, make sure that both the memory cards are in. Then switch your Gamecube on without a game disc. On the screen that comes up, move to the "Memory Management" (don't know if that is exact wording) menu, and press A. That will take you to a screen which shows both memory cards, and the files that are in both of them. If you want to transfer one to the other, press A on whatever file you want, then press A on "Copy". This will transfer it to the other memory card. You can do this with all the files, then keep the other memory card so that you still have your files if the other one gets corrupted.

So you have a new Gamecube? And was it a lot cheaper for Nintendo to stop including the digital outlet?

Resident Evil 4 does support progressive scan.

And that's the point - people want a PORTABLE system to be different than console systems - more variety in games, bettery battery life, fast load times etc..

Wow - I must be really lucky. After four years of CONSTANT SSBM and Mario Party (button mashing) games - the only thing wrong with my four controllers is that the buttons occasionally get stuck, but you blow into them (note the unintentional innuendo Bloodworth) and they are back to normal.

I own Burnout 2 - I didn't realize how lucky I was until I rented NFS:HP2 ---> it was so slow that I don't think I got through one race. But I played U2 on PC - it seemed better.

Oh, and that's why I LOVE F-Zero

It may still work well at the moment, but in the future watch out...

And besides, I'd rather Nintendo be on top than be a third party developer

I believe Nintendo will make subtle & casual references to older Zeldas, and there may be some enemies, characters etc from the past, but I think it will be quite unique.

Wow - THREE Nintendo controllers breaking down like that? I think it definitely has to do with something at your house - probably the humidity.  You know what you should do - after playing each time, roll up the controllers and put them away into a dry, airtight box until you use them next time

That's why I said that the controls should be based on potential, because right now you just can't give an accurate judgement.

Speaking of which, I just saw a new commercial for Metroid Hunters

Maybe couchmonkey or Ian have seen it - it's one of the "Too Much Fun" Canadian ads. It said something like, "If you want to blow it up, just point to it on the screen and shoot" or something like that. I believe that it's brand new, and I was just wondering if anyone else has seen it

I don't know about the cigar part - I don't think that Nintendo would venture that way, but the 5 o'clock shadow etc is feasible

Nintendo Gaming / RE:PSP vs. DS - IGN's take

Yea , I question the controls verdict as well - it should be based on potential so early in the race. I also wonder about the screens - they say that the PSPs screen is a bit better than the screens of the DS, but there's TWO screens on the DS - not to mention a touchscreen on the bottom. I'd have thought that the DS would win this section for sure - I guess that if it had, the DS would have won 4-2, and IGN doesn't want that to happen for obvious reasons.

"Unfortunately good ol' Matt from IGN the very same day decided to go on a long tangent about the PSP in the GAMECUBE mailbag again and for no good reason"

I know..that bastard. I mean, seriously, all that in the GAMECUBE mailbag? What the hell is he trying to do - spread his propaganda to people who don't care? Those are exactly the type of things that cause me to lose respect for editors. Funny thing, though. At the end of his mailbag, someone wrote this question:

"Hey Matt,

I was just wondering if you have, or know any editor that has, ever written a letter yourself and published it in the mailbag. I suppose one could do this if they really wanted to say something that couldn't be put in the "News" section, and no one wrote to them about it. It could also occur if the mailbag is experiencing slow times, and the editor needs letters.
I know that this is dishonest, but it could be a distinct possibility for editors.

PS: You know, because you always get the last word when replying to and posting messages, you can afford to be sarcastic and acerbic. However, it isn't exactly what you would call enjoyable for the writer. I must admit, though, it would be a great stress-reliever
"

Oh, the irony. He couldn't find a letter that asked him "Are you so madly in love with your PSP that you would trade your wife for it?" so he decided to give his opinion by getting off topic from another question. BTW, I totally agree with the PS that the person wrote

Remember, they are using the same engine, so I don't think that facial expressions will be a problem
