If you didn't like Good Grief, Afternoon Delight, The Immaculate Election, Meet the Veals, Righteous Brothers, Mr. F, Forget-Me-Now, and The Cabin Show, I can't help you...

And also, handheld games are quite different than console games. What I want out of a handheld is simpler games, fun games, old-school games and innovative games which load quickly and do not require a lot of time to be invested in them. And nongamers can relate to these much more, so it would make sense that the DS is doing well. The console market is entirely different; we'll just have to see if Nintendo can translate the success they've had on DS games into the Revolution.

Refresh my memory - aren't games supposed to be free online, or at least Nintendo's first-party games? Are third-parties allowed to charge for online play on their games?

Yes they are, but I don't think many will, since Nintendo isn't..

And the legacy lives on... no Mario Kart has ever sold less than 2 million worldwide.

Well, it does make sense, with the controller and all, and they probably are thinking seriously about developing for the Rev, but they need to know if it would be financially viable... The Rev is an untested console with an unknown userbase. The licensing fees would also be a factor.

I'd say that, unless Nintendo makes a deal with one of these developers to release a game close to launch, they'll wait it out. If/when the Rev has an established userbase and a good software tie-in ratio, we'll see many more of these experimental games.

Sorry to bump this - but you guys'll be happy to know that, just because of you guys, I sat down and watched an episode of the show. And then I went out and rented a dvd of the first few episodes. And then I went out and bought the first season boxed set. And then I got a DVR so I wouldn't miss anymore episodes on tv.

I can now rest peacefully, knowing that I have fulfilled my mission in life...

So we paid $60 dollars for the game and at are current rate of $5 an hour we have sunk 12 hours into that game alread by just buying it. To make up for this "lost" time we therefore need to get 12 hours worth of gameplay out of this game.

But then you'll "lose" 12 MORE hours by playing the game

SONIC RUSH, Kirby: Canvas Curse, Castlevania DS, Advance Wars DS, Nintendogs and if you can Yoshi: Touch n Go.

4964
Go for it! That's quite a nice collection - all you would need would be 2 more controllers (if you like multiplayer) and some new games. See the "What Game Should I Get" thread at the top of the board. Not influencing you or anything, but *cough* Smash Bros *cough* Eternal Darkness *cough* F-Zero GX *cough* Zelda: Wind Waker *cough* TimeSplitters

Ahem..

Holy damn, you read the whole thread...

You're my hero cyberrat.. Seriously, wow, I hope you stay here for a long, long time. And don't listen to anyone who makes fun of your typing

You should know that in order to take advantage of the component outlet, you need component cables, which are hard to come by - you would have to import them or get them from eBay too..

You should ALSO know that the Revolution doesn't only play GameCube games, you can also download NES/SNES/N64 games and play those as well. So if you've missed out on some gems, you'll be able to play them, or you could just play A Link to the Past and Super Metroid [/salesman]

I notice you have some Godzilla films in there - have you by any chance watched Godzilla vs King Kong? (I think that's what it's called) Because I watched it a long, long time ago (when I was about 7) and although I don't remember much of it, I've been wanting to know about it for a while now..

Biggest Surprise Runner Up: Incredible amount of support DS has gotten
    ...

Most disappointing Game: Geist
Oh come on... all previews indicated that it wasn't going to be a 5-Star game - and it wasn't bad for what it was also. I know it had been worked on for a while, but still..

Sleeper Hit: Phoenix Wright
    Battalion Wars also deserves consideration

DS Game of the Year Runner Up: Castlevania
Must have been the toughest pick - after Mario Kart look at all of the great DS titles; Kirby, Meteos, Advance Wars, Sonic Rush, Nintendogs, Mario & Luigi 2, Animal Crossing etc

edit: I just found something weird, when I quote the word 'boy-cott', without the hyphen, it turns into the word 'buy'. It made the sentence take on a different meaning.

Elf Bowling - the only game to truly portray the spirit of Christmas in a game cartridge/disc, with sky-high production values and second to none gameplay..

Tut tut Ty, that's two threads you've made (this and the video capture one) which are completely serious, and go against your own rules! The Funhouse really needs to be renamed
