bah... I really, really wanted a platformer that was traditional but at the same time it wasnt, which is what Super Paper Mario looked like. Now lets wait and see how this turns out, the kind of remote functionalities they are going to put in intrigues me, I hope they don't end up being crammed into the game just for the sake of it.

many of us did saw the original source before it was pulled off, and these are newspapers that are serious about reporting stuff, they are not joystiq.

Nintendo did release NES classics for $30, and people bought them, yes theres the portability but its still a rip-off.

ouch, one controller.

Then again this is Japan, lets hope the launch in this part of the pacific comes with two controllers, it would make sense if you compare both prices directly.

oh I didn't notice in the wii thread that the price for VC is going to be that high, I really don't know, maybe I won't mind paying $10 for say, Majora's Mask, but $5 for something like Tetris? I don't know.

bah, I dont care for wiisports honestly Id prefer if it wasn't inlcuded. Of course only if that makes the price go down to $200, a $250 standalone console is just not nice. Any word on the number of controllers included?

General Gaming / RE: This should bring back great memories of N64
« on: September 11, 2006, 06:11:32 PM »
yay! N64 memories.

I was 13 I think at the time, my dad bought me the console out of nowhere, I had no idea about it and I didn't ask for it, Ive heard people talking about it but I knew no details at all. He just appeared with it so I was more curious than excited, since I didn't know anything about it. We rented Mario 64 and I was just blown away when I started playing it, we later went to buy the game, but couldn't find it anywhere so I ended up buying Doom 64, and later starfox 64, the games were too expensive so I didn't get another one until Ocarina. I finished Mario 64 by renting it and I didn't get a copy of the game until this year (a bit late). Those were good times, even though I wanted much more games but we just couldn't afford them..

I don't understand why this is such a huge deal, is this a big concern in Japan? Ive never heard of anyone who complains that consoles consume "too much energy", they are consoles to begin with, Im sure the TV alone consumes a lot more.

Theres isn't really much to do in the overworld of OoT and MM either, is rather dig for treasure in predetermined spots or do battle with your arrows. Boulders and holes are the same as the light treasures have at sea, and they sure picked my interest more than once, there were also pirates outposts, submarines and plenty of enemies. The ocean also had puzzles, and I personally liked the naval combat of the game. Although Im sure there will be neat locations, because the wind waker also had them, a 45 min long overworld is pretty much the same as an endless green ocean unless is filled from top to bottom with stuff, and not just boulders and holes. The ocean as a setting actually offers a lot of possibilities as well, but unfortunately the Wind Waker was rushed, otherwise the overworld of the game would be much more filled.

And this is something that makes me think, because even though the game was rushed, I wouldn't say the ocean was "filled with nothingness" as you say, it had a lot of treasures, locations and secrets, and still it seemed a barren world, mainly because of its huge size, so its not crazy to think TP might be the same when they are promising the overworld is even larger.

Its not the setting what matters, is the dedication put into it, be it ocean or land. Both locations have the same potential. For now we can only speculate, but I have the hunch that even if TP overworld is as scarce in content as the WW one, people would love one while still hate the other because the gaming community really is that lame.

so are the Splinter Cell screenshots photoshopped or not? Im bad at recognizing this things. It looks a lot better than what Ive come to expect from games for the console.

Nintendo Gaming / RE: Wii is so not hardcore. And you know it!

Metroid is the most hardcore, anti casual gaming franchise ever, and is probably the reason Nintendo doesn't like it as much as their other children.

oh come on, no one is complaining 6 months straight about SPM and Zelda's complaining doesnt count, OK!? Im over that as well, don't worry . But one thing is for sure, if I see they tacked in some remote functionality a la Zelda instead of using it properly Im not going to buy the game and you'll get one more ranting post of me about it.

Bullsh!t Nintendo wouldn't be releasing a new console otherwise.  Even if the other two companies didn't Nintendo would have because releasing an accessory for a dead console is a waste of time and money.  The Cube's shortcomings are Nintendo's fault.  Can you name any outside factor beyond their control that doomed the Cube?  I can't.  It's all based on goof-ups and poor decisions at their end.

"Did I miss something? The game is still coming out. It's still going to be awesome. It's still Super Paper Mario. Not being on the Cube isn't such a bad thing."

Well the problem is I now have to pay a couple hundred bucks for a new console to play this game and they originally told me I didn't.  That's just irritating.  They gave us something to look forward to and then took it away.

I totally understand that from a business point of view it makes sense but it still SUCKS.  I'm so damn sick of Nintendo breaking promises.  One thing that has made it difficult for me to get excited about the Wii is that I just don't trust them at all anymore and that's because of stuff like this.  On it's own this isn't that big of a deal but with all the broken promises and blatant lies we've had to deal with on the Cube it becomes bigger.

LOL. You're such an a-you-know-what-hole, Ian. Really. Everything is always about you you you you you you you. Nintendo is a company, they have employees, they have products, they have shareholders. If releasing a game like Super Paper Mario on the Wii means (as it likely does) many more sales, then to do otherwise would be irresponsible. They're not your personal pleasure slaves. The world does not around you.

In summary: you are not entitled to anything. Get over yourself.

This is the kind of attitude that just shocks me, we are COSTUMERS,  we can and should demand every single selfish need from the company we are giving money to and I don't see the problem in that. Is really creepy the level of fanboyism some people have when they put the needs and demands of Nintendo as company above their own needs and demands as gamers and costumers, its just mind-boggling, or do you have stocks in Nintendo or something?

Well when I was in fencing in college, I certainly did all of mine from a third person view.  It made it much, much easier that way.

oops, I meant third person.

As I said before unless you are a master sword fighter, professional in fencing, the battles would SUCK, we need to be cheated into believing we are good, one on one mapping will never do that.

Nintendo Gaming / RE: Rumour: No Rumble fow Wii

I'd be very dissapointed but I really, really doubt this rumor is true, it just doesn't make sense after all the advertisment Nintendo themselves gave to the rumble. And I disagree with Ian, a speaker in the controller is an awesome idea and I can't wait to see how its used.
