Although I concede that they did pull the plug on 32X, Saturn, and Dreamcast early.. but that was after supporting multiple "less-popular" consoles for quite a while.

Actually, IIRC, Sega realized Nintendo had dominance over the American market, so they sold marketing rights to teh SMS to Tonka. I agree Sega did pull the plug early on many of their systems. I believe another reason they failed in the long run would be due to their emphasis on hardware. It's easy to point to the Sega CD, and the 32X, but many people don't know many of Sega's other blunders, including: 2 Genesis redesigns, the Nomad (portable Genesis), the X'eye/Wondermega (Genesis/Sega CD hybrid), and the CDX (
PORTABLE Genesis/Sega CD hybrid) among others.
