Oh God, that creature still exists?  I remember back in the day when he couldnt even name "Kirby's Air Ride."  This is the same guy who constantly rates games low based on the fact that they're too "tiku tiku tiku! " for him.

I wouldnt go that far Ian, but believe me, I do feel your rage.  Metroid is Nintendo's "teh mature" franchise and a pinball game sounds like a horrible thing to do to the franchise.  That's like making a Zelda racing game.  it does not work and Nintendo is really overusing the franchise.  One of the reasons Halo 2 sold so well (besides being hearlded as the greatest game ever..i dont share that opinon) was that people waited 3 years for the second one.  Time between releases brings anticipation back to the franchise.  Ya hear that Nintendo?  We want Star Tropics and Kid Icarus.

I hope this is true, megaman X is so much better than the original series, imo...though, MMX was the first Mega game for me, so I might be just a bit biased lol.  I'd buy this if only for MMX 1-3.  You can keep all the ps ones, they just lacked the flair that made the series great...hell, I take it back, I'd buy it for MMX 3, I never even played it, it was that rare.

Once rumored to be the GC disc format.  FMD or Fluorescent Multilayer Disc would be the best choice for Nintendo because of its huge storage compacity... 140gb!!!

FMD is the most kickass technology that will never be.  I hope I'm wrong, but apparantly Constillation (the company that developed it) went out of business a few years back.  I have no clue who owns the tech now, but I hope somehow, someway Nintendo jumps on it.  Anyone with any info on FMD?  heh, makes DVD and Blu Ray look like panzies

I would've found that IGN thing interesting except for the fact that the ideas for each game are exactly the same.  Make the game prettier and add online play.  Typical IGN dribble

I doubt it, Sonic Spinball had huge tables and required so much skill to play, just like real pinball.  Whereas Mario Pinball had really small tables and took almost no skill to play because all you had to do was kill everything on the board.

Also, I didnt notice the date of post...why would anyone bring up an old thread like this?

The DS will continue to have "Sequelitis" throughout much of its existance.  It's not that dev's dont want to take advantage of the system's abilities, its the fact that the DS is a portable system.  Handhelds have terrible hardware to game tie in ratios because many would rather spend their money on the home consoles.  The Game Boy gets so many sequels and movie/television games because they're easy to make and in all honesty...no one markets Game Boy games.  They sell on previous recognition alone.  How many original GBA games can you name that have become successful franchises that were not made by Nintendo?  It doesnt matter how many Game Boy's or DS's Nintendo sells, handhelds in general will be seen as a small market in the gaming populous.  This is the same reason I feel the PSP will fail, but that's a whole different can of worms

"Nope, I hated it too.  I only played until for the first 2 stars.  The D-Pad is very uncomfortable to use (in addition to being imprecise).  I don't like that you have to hold a button to run.  How am I supposed to hit the secondary action button while holding the run button?"

You do realize that you had to hold a button to run in Mario 1-3 and World right?

Edit: The problem is not holding down a button to run, it worked in all past Mario games.  What makes Mario 64 DS different, is that Nintendo switched to a 3 button format for the 3d games.  Which makes holding down the run button more difficult when you have to stretch across the controller to use the "dive" move

While this is true, it begs to question why the Xbox, can get away with having colorful buttoms.  But then again, this is most likely due to MS throwing so much money away making the world believe that no matter what they do, they're cool.

Yea...just gameplay, story, controls, dungeons, imagitive bosses...ya know, stuff like that.  Graphically, it might be easier to create the characters, but animating them and making the land of Hyrule into a place that these realistic characters would look natural in requires alot more thought and effort.

Goldeneye in Rouge Agent wont happen, too many hurdles (EA owns the Bond Licence, Rare made the game, Nintendo published it, Microsoft owns Rare now)

Star Fox 64 i would love to see on the DS

Conker's Bad Fur Day was one of the last great N64 games.  It was a platformer, that totally went against all Rare traditions (Read: no collecting stuff).  It spoofed many movies and was praised by all.  It was also very funny, though vulgar.  And last but not least, the Grim Reaper cannot help but bring a smile to your face.  The game is currently being "ported" to the XBox with Live support.  The game will be called Conker: Live and Reloaded

PS2 entusiasts inist the PS2's built-in DVD-player was what made it such a bargain.  Now you tell people that you could have DVD's and MP3's in a portable console and it'll sell like mad.  Like the PS2, whether or not the quality of the add-ins are terribly great is completely irrelevant.

Sad, but true.

It is very true actually.  Back when the PS2 came out, DVD players were about $300 so in essence, PS2, the game system was free for consumers.  At the time it was a good bargin.

Rare was already working on those games when Microsoft bought them.  MS decided it would be better to release those games and make a profit on them instead of just losing the money Rare invested in those products.  It was kinda a respect thing.  However, once those projects are done Microsoft could use the GBA team/s to start making Xbox games.

There is only one reason Microsoft would consider to keep their Rare GBA teams intact.  And that would be to sabatoge Sony with their fight against Nintendo in the handheld market.  If Microsoft was to release a portable Conker or Perfect Dark for DS it could sway alot of potential buyers to Nintendo DS and not PSP.  In turn, less profit and success of PSP means Sony is going into the next console battle with a portable failure, and more sour taste in the consumers mouth than the "god-like" status they have after the PS2 success.

I don't think Microsoft will play this much hardball though.  I don't think they feel they will need to.

While your theory is well founded, you overlook the fact that Rare is developing Donkey Kong Country 2.  It wasnt part of the Rare's original GBA line up, so that shows that MS is letting Rare port the games to GBA.  Also, lets not forget that an Oddoworld game was made for the GBA, and Halo is allegedly in development for the GBA.  MS and Nintendo are closer than it seems...for handheld development at least.

I agree wholeheartedly.  Does this seem familar to anyone?  Back in the day when Nintendo was king, how they'd have sole control over carts and cart production.  I know they enforced quality control, and constricted developer creativity to an extent.  But it looks like Sony's taking the path well travelled with this one.  Will the outcome be the same?  Only time will tell.

While it is true that the company has gone under, isnt there a possibility that Nintendo could buy the rights to the tech?  It seemed like the product was basically there, the only need would be to condense the hardware down a bit (the card reader was huge).
