Were the systems sales even tracked back then, except by the video game companies themselves though?

Let me, see if I can get this straight... Before Nintendo took the entire top10, the first time, no one company had ever taken the entire top10 before, ever? Or was it that no single system had ever taken the entire top10 before? (like the DS did)

Either way it's awesome for Nintendo. Which means more games and support from 3rd parties.

Good god... The top 15 and 40 of the top 50? The Japanese are crazy for Nintendo stuff. Awesome.

Has any one company ever taken the top 15 before? I'm guessing not if noone had ever taken the entire top 10 before.

TalkBack / RE: Nyko Accessorizes the Wii

Well, auto turn off, except by timer, would be hard to determine. There is no activity going on between the sensor bar and the remote. The sensor bar is only there to provide 2 infrared light sources for the remote to "see" and nothing more. In otherwords, the sensor bar doesn't know when it is or when it is not being used. And hence why it can't shut off when you turn of the console.

So instead just use the candle trick if you want a wireless sensor bar. Or for that matter any 2 infrared light sources. Clear incandescent lights put out plenty of infrared light as well.

At my new years party we didn't even use the sensor bar. When we needed to get a cursor to get around the Wii Sports menu we just pointed at the kitchen chandelier behind us. So it's really quite easy to go "wireless" for the "sensor bar".

This Nyko device looks just fine, you've just got to remember to turn it off after use or you'll kill the batteries.

Nintendo Gaming / RE: HD monitors

well, unless your video source is coming over a DVI or HDMI cable, component is as good a signal as you'll be able to input.

If this is TV flat panel monitor, yes, it will accept the 480p signal, but it will be upscaled to the native resolution of the TV resulting in some amount of blurriness.

If it is a PC monitors will do 480p. But a PC flat panel monitor won't accept video input from a DVD player or video game console if that is what your asking.

Yea... You could spin these Christmas week sales numbers by saying that the competition for a weekly top 10 title was stiff. 135,000 units as the minimum to enter the top 10 is quite high. (the non-holiday average, for 10th place, (looking back through posts) is around 20-25k)

But, but that shouldn't prevent PS3 from having more then one title in the top 50. I mean this was Christmas week. You get extra sales because, you know, it's Christmas.

Hm... Well Xbox got a holiday boost. 11 units sold

I'd be curious to see what the European and US holiday numbers are. But I gather we won't get that info until mid-January, if ever for Europe. Wii is about 2 million, but that was through november.

Nintendo Gaming / RE: Our Christmas gift?
« on: December 25, 2006, 09:40:34 AM »
I view most of this as a kind of "you can please some of the people all of the time, but never all of the people all of the time" kinda deal. Yea, a "Reggie Card" thing would have been nice. But, whatever. It's not like Nintendo doesn't think of their customers.

I'm just happy and thankful they keep making games! And to ecco Mario, "Thanks for the memories Nintendo."

Shame, too, considering it would have been a good demonstration of the Wii's internet connectivity, especially considering they did something similar when Nintendo sent us the notice about the internet and weather channels.
Bitch bitch bitch.... You get the forcast channel, a preview version of the Wiib browser, and some awesome VC titles. And what thanks do you give them? (not you personally, everyone here)

A whole lot a bitching. Nice.

Not by WiFi, at least. But I'm certain that the PSP can connect by USB, since it can connect by USB to a PC.

Also cool I think is that 318,473 copies of Wii Sports have been purchased. That means that over half of the Wii customers are buying Wii Sports as well. Which bodes well for continued development of Wii Play / Wii Sports type of games, and that makes me happy.

Voltage differences. A Li-ion cell puts out 3.3 volts, i'm told. Where as NiMH / NiCads put out 1.2 volts. It's not worth it to split a li-ion cell.

I wouldn't exactly call game registration lousy treatment. You know, you could always just NOT register your games until there is a promotion you like.

NoA has good customer service, lousy customer treatment but great customer service.
Lousy customer treatment? You mean like, they didn't make a $600 hi-def console or didn't ship component cables on launch day? Give me a break...

195
No matter what pope blessing or magical pixy dust Monster infused their cables with it's just not worth whatever price they want unless it is equal or less then Nintendo's price.

Heh... You're familiar with the GBA "NES Classics" line of games, right? I saw an ad in Nintendo Power magazine for essentially a "Genesis Classics" release of Sonic the Hedgehog (the original) for the GBA.

My first reaction literally was, "Hey wait.... What about all that Blast processing crap? Sega does what Nintendon't!"

PSP: 29,000. This time last year it was at least doing 75k-100k.

Geez... what are they going to say in their 2007 keynotes/media briefing on behalf of PSP? (or whatever event will take the place of E3...)
