I got mine in today and I have to say I'm not 100% happy with it.
I've tested it out with a couple games. Electroplankton, Nintendogs, WarioWare and Yoshi Touch & Go.

Nintendogs is worked great with, they head my commands better then when I used the built in mic. And when I set new commands they came out nice and clean.

Electroplankton was so-so, I was getting alot of static when my voice was recorded.

WarioWare and Yoshi Touch & Go I found that the mic was 100% useless when it was attached to my ear you had to take the mic off and put it right in front of your mouth in order for the game to pick you up.

I'll be testing it out with Metroid Prime next time I see one of my friends online.

So far I don't think its worth the money but if it works well with Metroid that might just change my opinion.

Not a good sign that its not being created by Sonic Team. I'm predicting the game is going to be pretty bad, Exspecially due to the fact its being created by the same team behind Death Jr.

Anyone else get a vibe that its going to be like Sonic R or Sonic Riders?

I don't feel to bad that the PSP is getting a Sonic game, I mean Hell the N-Gage got a Sonic game.

TalkBack / RE: SNK to Develop for Wii

about time
I love SNK games and I've always been disappointed that they didn't support the GameCube. Glad to see they will be supporting the Revolution.

Nintendo Gaming / RE: uh-oh: Nintendo reconsidering Wii?
« on: April 30, 2006, 06:25:37 PM »
I hope they do change it. I've been at Nintendo's side through the good times and the bad, but I can't stand by them with such a God awful name as 'wii'

Nintendo Gaming / RE: the official : "telling family about wii" thread
« on: April 28, 2006, 05:33:01 AM »
This morning I decided to get the opinions from my family and what they thought of the name. Without saying what it was I asked them a few Questions. Questions that Nintendo should have asked.

Note: None of my family members are gamers, they are the exact audience Nintendo would be aiming at. I also asked each of them one on one so their opinion wouldn't be effected by others.

1. What do you think of when you hear the word "Wee"?

2. What do you think of when the word "wee" is spelled "Wii"

3. What would you think/do if (insert brand name appliance) was called the Wii?

My results:

For Question 1 everyone one first thought of "We" as in You and Me

For Question 2 I got a mix, But No one thought of "We"
All three sisters all thought of going the bathroom
My Mom though some one mis-spelled it
My Dad though it was baby talk.

For Question 3
All three of my sisters said the same thing again and thought it would be very stupid and none of them would pick up a system called the "Wii" they found the name to be very childish and a over all joke.

My Mom thinks you should be worried that it might mean something else in another country. And also thought it was a very silly name.

My Dad thought at first maybe it was something in Roman Numerals or Maybe something very small, But he also stated that the name was very weak and that he wouldn't take the item seriously. And he even said the name sounded "fruity" as in Gay.

When I finally mentioned that "Wii" is what Nintendo is calling the Revolution, they were all pretty shocked. They all saw it as a bad move. My two youngest sisters both started laughing.
My Mom was amazed that they would pick a name like that and she even said she could see a lot of men feeling very unconferable going into a store and asking for an item called the 'Wii'

My Dad saw this as a HUGE marketing blunder. That someone in marketing really dropped the ball. The name had no selling power and then he went on to say the same things he said before, the name was very weak and no one will take the item seriously and the name sounded "fruity". When you put the name up against names like "PS3" or "Xbox360" the "Wii" is going to get crushed. When I told him how Nintendo was comparing it to "Google", "iPod", "Amazon", "Yahoo" and "Tivo" he said that is a really lame. those words have a lot more power behind them and "Wii" has no where near the same sound. People buy items based on the name, Just look at your electronics and exercise equipment, they have powerful names with lots of numbers, thats how they get the average consumers to buy something, its not about how well it works its about if the product jumps off the shelf at you.

Its what I feared, No one in my house would buy any product named the "Wii". They see it as a joke.

I fear for Nintendo even more now.

Is it just me or does 'Wii' sound like the name of tampons or some other Woman's product?

::Looks into the future::
Nintendo and Hudson are teaming up to bring you Wii with Wings...

What the hell were the other choices for names?

« on: April 27, 2006, 10:58:55 AM »
Hmm...
Wii = 23, 9, 9
23 + 9 + 9 = 41
4 + 1 = 5

Nintendo Wii = Nintendo's 5th Console!

I know I'm grasping at straws here, I just can't accept that Nintendo would do something as stupid as naming their console the 'Wii'

Oh Dear God What have they Done!
They have been doing so much to get rid of their tiku tiku tiku!  image and they they toss this name on the Revolution.

I think every Nintendo fan out there needs to email Nintendo and ask what the f*ck are they thinking and that they need to change the name back to Revolution or to something less childish.

All I can think of when I see that name is a baby babbleing.

It wasn't 1-2sec of slow down, it was easily closer to 10-20sec of show down & 5-8sec pausing. (I didn't have a stop watch, but did do the "1 one thousand, 2 one thousand..." counting)
1-2sec I could easily excuse. But when the game stops long enough that you look to your friends and say "WTF?" then that is a problem.

The PC version from what I've heard was solid. but from my experience and others I have talked to the 360 version was very buggy.

Nintendo Gaming / RE: Nintendo = Purple?
« on: April 25, 2006, 07:07:06 AM »
Man that is so stupid. Why the hell is Nintendo going to be Purple, they should be red. Stupid Wal-Mart.
Purple is not a good color, when people see purple they think girly, kid-dy, and homosexual (Its their offical color after all). I mean if you walk into their toy section the girls area is all pink and purple. God damn it Wal-Mart do some freaken research into colors before picking one.

As for the order, I'm actually kind of happy since at the 4 Wal-Marts in my area the Xbox section sticks out more and is the first section you see while the Nintendo section gets hidden away since its in the middle.

Maybe it will come out for the Revolution bust Sega is just not allowed to say anything yet.

How much longer is Nintendo's NDA in effect, I want to start hearing about Revolution games damn it!

All Xbox360 wired controllers are just normal USB controllers so you can easily just pick up any wired one and use it.
BUT you have to be using Windows XP or Windows Vista since they are the only 2 versions of Windows Microsoft has written drivers for the 360 controller.

I almost want to hook up my XBox360 to a video capturing device just so I can record how crappy the Xbox360 version is with it pausing every 30 steps and when I change weapons.

One of my friends got the PC version and he did find that all the slow downs were not in the PC version, then again he also had to have the game set on the low settings, His PC only met half of the recommended settings. He also thinks that maybe if you were to set it at the same quality as the Xbox360 you might get all the slow downs if you don't have a Top of the Top of the line PC.

He also didn't care for it and after about a week he grew very tired of it and just stopped playing it all together.

Some people like the game some people hate it. So far all my friends hate the game and feel it was only half made and is very overrated.

Nintendo Gaming / RE: NiGHTS Revolution!
« on: April 19, 2006, 04:46:00 PM »
Why does everyone still think you can't emulate a Sega Saturn.
People it has been done. Look into Saturne or SSF.

I have Saturne running on my AMD 1.5Ghz system which only has 512MB of RAM and a 128MB videocard. And NiGHTs runs beautifully.

The Revolution will have more then enough power to do this, especially if Sega makes the emulator.

Nintendo Gaming / RE: Katamari Developer denounces revolution

I never understood why everyone all of a sudden called KD this great game. I picked up the first one the week it came out cause it looked like a cute $20 game. It was fun for the first couple days then got to be very boring and stupid. I couldn't for the life of me understand why they would make two sequels to a mediocre game and on top of that charge you full price for them.

I think the us-seen success of this game has gone right to his head and now he thinks he's mister big shot. What other games has this guy done? None that I know of, and I'm more then willing to bet that if he ever makes another game it will not be as big of a hit as KD was, He's a one trick pony and once people relies that maybe they will stop kissing his butt.

I have a feeling he was bought off by Sony, I mean he only made 3 games and all 3 were for Sony systems. Even thou people were saying how much KD would rock on the DS way before the PSP version was even hinted at. Has this guy even used a Revolution controller or is he just talking out his butt like the dumbass from epic games.

I wouldn't care if I never see another KD ever again. The series jumped the shark when they made the sequel.
Let him go build his tiku tiku tiku!  playgrounds and leave the videogame world. I don't care, not like he actually brought anything to the table.

And Ian I believe you are wrong, Yes the developers are also responsible for innervating games, But the controller is also just as important to moving people to the next level. Just look at what Nintendo has done. They redesigned the controller back on the NES, introduced the Cross pad. On the SNES they added more buttons which expanded what you could do. N64 we entered the 3D world with the analog stick, Sony didn't have this vision and with the Playstation they actually started off with pretty much a knockoff of the SNES controller. If it wasn't for Nintendo changing things up we would still be playing games with a Arcade stick and a single red button. The Revolution Remote is going to take us out of the stale setup we are currently in. Its going to make old styles of games feel like new. FPS are not going to change at all with the current controller the way it is. Infact most games will continue to play just like they didn't last gen. With the Rev controller things will change and new ways to play will be found and for the first time ever you will actually be part of the game. You can't get that with the current controller no matter how much the developers try.
