General Gaming / RE: Dracula X: Rondo of Blood, Castlevania: SotN to PSP
« on: February 01, 2007, 03:39:02 PM »
meh, not really that big of a deal, I much rather have new Castlevania games. I'm actually kind of surprised they didn't just put Castlevania: Symphony of the Night up on the PSOne store... Then again we don't know how much the game is going to cost, if the game is going to retail for the same price as a normal PSP game ($39.99) then if they didn't include SotN people would feel like they were ripped off, by including 2 games it will soften the blow. Something they should have done with the Megaman remakes.

SotN is going to be showing up soon on XboxLive Arcade, and I have a feeling that Rondo of Blood isn't to far behind. And I also have this gut feeling that we may see both games on a Nintendo system (be it the Virtual Console or the DS) in the very near future.

Didn't know either of those but thinking about it the first one does not really surprise me.

I was under the impression that the Xbox360 used a modified version of DirectX 9 not 10.

ya its annoying that its taking so long to get some games to work on the XBox360, but the way I see it I rather wait a bit then have a sh!tty looking game which is unplayable.
It took them over a year just to get Dead Or Alive Ultimate up and running and I'm still waiting for DoA:XBV, Beyond Good & Evil, Marvel vs Capcom and King of Fighters games

A wonderful and smile inducing game throughout.

Downloaded it, Played it, Thought it was lame, Deleted it

The only games that I thought were remotely fun that I was able to play for a while were HotShots, Mercury Meltdown, Pirates of the Caribbean, Ghost in the Shell, and StarWars: Lethal Alliance.
HotShots is no different then the console version or Mario Golf.
Mercury was cute for the first section then got boring, maybe the Wii version will be better.
Pirates of the Caribbean was good to kill a few hours, then I switched to the PS2 version and never looked back
Ghost in the Shell I played cause I'm a GitS junkie.
StarWars: Lethal Alliance was fun and made me want to go back to StarWars Galaxies

So out of curiosity how are you playing MotorStorm? I was under the impression that the UK didn't get PS3s till March.
From what I've read from Japan, where they have the ACTUAL game, they really don't like it, its plays like a direct port of a arcade game, the levels are way to small and there is next to nothing in replay value. Infact in Japan MotorStorm hit the bargain bin within a week after launch.

If you find that MotorStorm  is better then Excite Truck, then there is something seriously wrong with you. Excite Truck is FAR better then most of the racing games out there.

And in case you think that I'm a Nintendo-Only fan, I do own pretty much every system thats been releases with the exception of the PS3 since I see it as a TOTAL waste of money. Infact if you look at a couple posts back I welcomed RHoQ into the Legion of Wii60 owners since I am one of them as well. I picked up my Xbox360 a couple weeks after launch, just in time of DoA4 infact.

Your joking right? MotorStorm on the PS3 sucks! So far their is only one exclusive on the PS3 that isn't a total joke and that's Fall of Man and even that is border line. Infact your the first person I've heard say that they liked MotorStorm  on the PS3... Are you sure your not a Sony fanboy or Sony marketer that is pretending to be a Nintendo fan?

You know scratch that, that, you sound alot more like a Xbox sales rep later on.

You do know that Ridge Racer 6 (RR7 on the PS3), Fight Night, Ghost Recon, Elder Scrolls: Oblivion, Enchanted Arms, LEGO Star Wars II and Test Drive Unlimited are all multiconsole right?

And seriously Enchanted Arms, Amped 3, Kameo, Perfect Dark Zero, Oblivion, Test Drive Unlimited, and Viva Pinata all sucked.
Okay maybe not so much Enchanted Arms, but if you own a PS2 there are FAR better RPGs on it, Enchanted Arms is like the first decent RPG to ever hit the Xbox system.

You smell like a marketing doppelgänger, Penny-Arcade warned me about your kind. I'm keeping my eye on you.

Does anyone know WHY exactly the 360 handles Xbox games so clumsily?
Its because the Xbox360 uses a PowerPC chip in it instead of a Intel Chip. Its like trying to run a program on a Mac that came from a Windows PC.
Microsoft has to re-write the executable for the Xbox games so that it can run on a Xbox360. That is why the HD is required to play Xbox games.

Sony is having similar issues with the PS3, But instead of doing what MS is doing and slowly releasing updates that make more and more Xbox games compatible with the Xbox360, Sony desided to just toss a PS2 Slim inside the PS3. Which was done pretty sloppy, When you play a PSOne or PS2 game on the PS3 they look really sh!tty your pretty much better off keeping a PS2 around.

I think the trade in value of a Xbox at Gamestop is like $50

Also I too don't think you got ripped-off by picking Saints Row. I really enjoy the game and have put in quite a few hours into it. Which is funny since I ABSOLUTELY HATE the GTA series. Saints Row just did something right that made me really enjoy it and have a lot of fun playing it. Its kind of like a Boondock Saints game.

Anyway as a fellow Wii60 member, congrats on joining the Legion of Wii60.

Nintendo Gaming / RE: Wiimote Sticker Template

@ JonLeung
When I was doing my tests to find what worked best I picked up both the permanent and removeable version of the papilio paper.
Both seem to be removeable and they don't leave much (if any) residue behind. If your conserned I would go with the removeable stickers just to be on the safe side.

When you go and print out the template it prints to a normal 8 1/2 x 11 sheet of paper, It only looks bigger on the computer since its has a higher dpi resolution.

The laminate idea is interesting, but I'm not sure it would work since wouldn't the sticker be laminated between two pieces of laminate?

I spent the last week (or so) putting together skins for all my Wiimotes. I like having my controllers look different from each other and since it doesn't seem like we'll have multi-colored Wiimotes any time soon I decided to do this.

Since I'm such a nice guy, I've decided to share my template with all of you ^_^

The files is a 300dpi Photoshop File, I have it set up so it give you the most crisp and clean printout. All you need to do is find a picture you like, copy and paste it into the template, align it so it looks correct and then print it out. I've included a couple examples in the file so you can see how I put them together.

http://www.medaverse.com/Cap/Wii_mote_4.rar

I've tried a few different printable stickers and I found that "Water-proof inkjet vinyl" (printable bumper stickers) works the best. I've been using Papilio Paper which seems to work best for me. They stick very well on the wiimotes and the ink doesn't rub off on my hands after playing Wii Sports or Super Swing Golf for a hour.

The most pain in the butt part is the cutting them out, a exacto knife is really the best way to do it, it takes me about 10mins to cut one out.

Well now that this is done, now on to the Classic Controller, Nunchuck, and the Wii itself.

I won't say this is good for Sony just yet.
All this is saying really is that Namco is going to make some games that use the Cell chip in them. Most likely arcade games.

This smells like the same thing that happen with the TriForce alience. You remeber that right? When Nintendo, Namco and Sega all joined up to make the Triforce arcade system board. All Nintendo got out of that was Star Fox Assault, F-Zero GX and Virtua Striker 2002.

If memory serves me didn't Sony do a similar thing with the Emotion Engine?

Ya I know about the MotoStorm "problem" every time a PS3 game comes out has to be downgraded or isn't being released with 1080 suport people make fun of it because of Sony's promise.

I thought Sony was pushing that all games have to suport at minimual of 1080i
Remeber Sony was pushing the fact that "True HD" was 1080 and not 720 like MS.

General Gaming / RE: Sony getting hit Hard lately

actually this is a confusing situation.

The Blu-ray Disc Association is not anti-Porn, But Sony themselves are.

Sony can threaten to pull a manufactures license, But if the manufacture wanted to fight it Sony would lose since Sony does not have final say in it.
There is also the chance that Sony made a threat to them in another area, Maybe Sony is funding the manufacturer or they could be renting the hardware to them for the disc replications, Sony in that sense has pull there as well. Sony did in fact do something to get the manufacturer to deny manufacturing of adult movies. That is true.

The Adult movies in Japan is also a tricky thing as well, It could very well be that these movies were not made in Japan and were in fact duplicated in China. China doesn't need the 'okay' to manufacture movies, once they get the means to make copies then do what every they want. Just look at all the really nice pirated movies you can buy from over there. They look like the real thing, but there a hell of a lot cheaper. Where else can you buy $600 worth of DVD box sets for only $100. Unlike the US in Japan those movies are a lot easier to find in stores so It wouldn't surprise me that the adult movies were made over there. The porn UMD movies were done in a similar way, Japan had them but they weren't made in Japan, The US has 1 adult UMD movie and it too wasn't made in Japan or the US. They can find work arounds but their not always "leget"

What ever Sony has been doing to keep Porn off the UMD could be the same way they are keeping Porn off of Blu-Ray, if they have any really pull in the situation is another story and the only real way to find that out would be for someone to want to release a porn movie on Blu-Ray and then actually bring it to the Blu-ray Disc Association when they are told that Sony won't allow it.

The only only parts I liked about Wind Waker was the bit of story in the start that talked about what happen to Hyrule, and then the final battle at the end. Other then that the game really stunk. I had very little drive to finish the game, in fact I think it took me nearly 6 months to finish it cause I had no desire to play it. The art style was a huge joke to me, it was like Nintendo saying "hey lets see how stupid can we make this game look" The style looked like something out of a bad kiddy cartoon. It was a very un-needed change that I feel only damaged Zelda and Nintendo. If Nintendo wanted to use that art style with Mario it could have worked, but doing it to Zelda.. It was just wrong, I was like if they took Metroid and made them all chibi.

Twilight Princess did a TON of damage control. And it left me wanting another, We don't need a Wind Waker 2 and I would be happy if we never returned to that world or style ever again. Hell I'm not to excited about Phantom Hourglass right now. I want to see more of the Twilight Realm, I want to see more Zelda games like Twilight Princess. I want the freaken lose ends to be tied up and the Zelda time line to make some sense.

I consider myself to be a pretty big Zelda fan, So it just seems strange to me that everyone here seems to like Wind Waker but for me its in my bottom 5 Zelda games, it sits right before Zelda II and the 3 CD-I games. It's the only Zelda game that I never bothered to play for a second time (I'm not including the CD-I games, since I could never even finished them)

Nintendo Gaming / My Idea for a Twilight Princess Sequal
« on: January 16, 2007, 04:57:37 PM »
Sorry if this is in the wrong board, a Mod can move this if need be.

Be warned this post has Spoilers!

I was talking with S_B the other night about Twilight Princess and that the only thing that I was disappointed with was the fact that the game didn't connect Wind Waker to the OoT story line. When Nintendo said that Twilight Princess was going to take place between OoT and WW I figured we would find out why Link wasn't there to save Hyrule.

Then I came up with an idea. An idea just so crazy that it just might work. This idea is a work in progress, still has some rough edges.

Nintendo could make a Sequel to Twilight Princess, an actual sequel similar to how MM was a sequel to OoT. We continue on the adventure of this current Link.

The game starts off in a dream sequence where Link is seeing visions of a war torn world, a Dark world, The Twilight Realm. We see Princess Midna on the battle field calling out for Link. Some how Link and Minda are still connected even thou the gateway was destroyed. Some evil being is attacking the Twilight Realm and only Link can help them.

Link goes out on a Quest to find another gateway to the Twilight Realm (this would take up maybe 1/4 or less of game). Once found he finds out that its a one way ticket. And that if he goes he will NOT be able to return. Link cares to much for Midna and decides to go to the Twilight Realm, Never to return to Hyrule.

(So that’s how we write Link out so that Ganondorf can return and there is no Hero of Time to stop him.)

The rest of the game would be classic Zelda format with exploring dungeons and solving puzzles in order to construct some item to be used to destroy some weapon that is tearing apart the Twilight Realm (ya I haven't worked out all the details for the middle of the game)

Through out the game I would have Shadow Link being the main badguy, and not your classic Shadow Link this one is a lot more evil. In the end we find out that some how Ganondorf (in his actual form) made it to the Twilight Realm and he was the one responsible for the attack. Link defeats Ganondorf and he simply disappears. (maybe have him shatter into a million pieces) In the end we see Link and Minda together (no Link riding off or anything) Its a happy ending Link and Midna together, Link actually being kind of forced to settle down for once =P

Link assumes Ganondorf was destroyed and at the end of the game we assume that too, But if you had played WW you would know what really happen.

Had a bit of fun during work and made a fake box for the game.

General Gaming / New Ghostbusters game?
« on: January 14, 2007, 05:04:50 PM »
Quote

Could it be? A new video game based on the Ivan Reitman classic, Ghostbusters?

Videos that appeared online today indicate that a Ghostbusters title may be in the works. Credited to European developer Zootfly (Panzer Elite Action: Fields of Glory), the videos appear to either be test or proposal footage for a Ghostbusters video game. A little investigation done on the Ghostbusters.net message board revealed a PDF that detailed financial information for Zootfly, as well as a promo image for the game.

Whether these are real or fake is unclear, but we've contacted Zootfly for further clarification on the project, and will keep you updated if we hear anything new. In the meantime, hit the jump for some more videos.

When I was looking at this the first thing that came to mind was that it kind of fits the image of what Ghostbusters 3 was going to be. If you didn't know the title that was kicked around for GB3 was 'Ghostbusters in Hell' and the idea was that the gates of hell were located right in NY and thats why there was so much paranormal activity.
Maybe since Dan Aykroyd and Harold Ramis were never able to get a studio to back GB3 which in turn made it so GB3 never got off the ground this was the next best way to do it. It also helps fight the whole age thing, I mean seriously most of the cast doesn't look anything like their younger selves anymore.
