Nintendo Gaming / Official Gamezero Disscusion
« on: March 17, 2003, 11:53:40 AM »
Nintendo said that EAD had taken over both GCN donkey kong games (Donkey Kong Racing and the "new" one) when Rare left.

Of course, the "new" secret one might just be DKR, or Racing might have been canned as we haven't heard from it in a while. Although all we saw was an FMV trailer, Rare did get pretty far in the game...so I hope they didn't can it. Besides, like 10 million people work at EAD i'm sure there is someone there...

Nintendo seems to be gathering up a great roster to make up for it's "losses". We lose Rare and Left Field and get Retro Studios, Silicon Knights, Zoonami, Factor 5, and Sonic Team. Retro and SK are both fully owned first partays now, and Zoonami seems like it will be gobbled up shortly. Factor 5 is still independent blab blah but they have big Nintendo supporters for a while and it looks like they don't have any interest in PS2 and Xbox. Sonic Team stated that they only wanted to develop for GCN (they agreed to phantasy star) so they're pretty much exclusive unofficially. And they are not a part of Sega technically (like how HAL technically is an independent company from Nintendo"...

Nintendo Gaming / Lucky Guy has WW already!!!

Yeah some stores have it already and if it's a small store like EB or Funcoland or something they might just give it to you if you preordered it...

Well duh, ocarina of time easily fits on to the gamecubes system RAM. Didn't you read the loading screen when you start it up? It loads the entire game at the beginning...

We're talking about the biggest N64 game of all time (tied with Turok 2), and that's not saying much. Any cartridge based Nintendo game can easily be loaded onto the gamecube's RAM. We're not talking about 1 gigabyte plus of data like Resident Evil 0, Star Fox Adventures, Metroid Prime, Smash Brothers Melee, Eternal Darkness, or anything like that..

Edit: in case you were wondering, Turok 2 and Ocarina of Time were both 32 megabits.

Well Morpha was easier for me...The first time through in Ocarina of time back in late 98/early 99 when I was 11 to 12 I never died anywhere at all except the first time I fought Dark Link (I got lost in that waterfall boulder room right before and had to use up a potions...).

By the way, was it just me or were all the bosses related to fire just plain easy? Dodongo was a piece of cake, volvagia was a sissy girly man who disgraced dragons and their powerfulness and twinrova was just plain easy (she was fire and ice not pure fire but still easy).

Hey, now that I think of it, they didn't have a wind boss. Most of the bosses were based on "elements" (fire - volvagia, dodongo, half of twinrova; ice - half of twinrova; water - Morpha; lightning - barinade, etc)...A wind boss would have been cool...

Well all the people in my family are Muslim (I don't believe in any sort of religion crap, no offense..) so if someone posted an MP3 I could probably identify if it was Islamic or not. From what I've heard it's definately in Arabic but they just might have been singing. I heard they say Allah akbar which means praise God pretty much...Of course we live in the Atlanta suburbs and my parents aren't exactly very religious (as in, they are too lazy to do anything) so if their is a true Muslim here he could verify...(I know their is because I know this kid here who lives close by but I don't know his username...).

Oh, I thought you meant not getting hit EVER as in EVER. Of course I know about the no damage but that is not getting through the game, just that one mode...

Nintendo Gaming / Japanese 10 Most Wanted
« on: March 16, 2003, 04:23:58 PM »
Well Resident Evil Zero got pretty much 8/10 reviews here but Famitsu have it a 38 or 39 out of 40 which is one of their best scores ever...People in Japan have different tastes...They loved cel-shaded zelda on first sight, we didn't (majority of us).

Nintendo Gaming / What did Metroid Prime and Fusion get from Famitsu?
« on: March 16, 2003, 04:21:52 PM »
Super Metroid's US sales compared to japanese sales are like the US sales of Ocarina of Time or Super Mario 64 compared to japanese sales...

934
Actually they've already done most of those ^_^

I've gotten sound test which means I've unlocked and beaten everything. So the only thing I don't have is all the trophies...

That getting through the game without getting hit is bull. Whoever told you that is lying. Anyone can get all the trophies. If you screw up, you can always try again. The only ones you might not be able to get are the ones that require a saved game on the memory card. For example, if you have a pikmin save file on your mem. card you can get some pikmin trophies...

Nintendo Gaming / Pre-orders Closing in on OOT
« on: March 16, 2003, 09:02:56 AM »
Ok, check gamers.com, IGN, this site, official Nintendo press release, or anywhere. Wind Waker has 560,000 preorders, more than either Ocarina of Time (current guiness book record holder, 325,000) or Vice City (not in Guiness book yet, about 400,000). Now if that is just from EB, than HOLY CRAP! But I think it's just the total ammount. Either way Zelda is now the new record holder...oh well Vice City won't make it into the Guiness book...And zelda will be there for the 6th year straight...

Nintendo Gaming / Whaaaaaaaat?
« on: March 16, 2003, 08:56:55 AM »
The original gold cartridge had red blood along with goron's singing Islamic chants in the Fire Temple music. The took out the cool-sounding chants (i'm sure most people agree) because they wanted the game to not have any religious things in it...I guess Koji Kondo didn't know it was religious (??..).

The later gray cartridges had green blood.

And ganon wasn't the only one who had blood...Certain enemies would spurt blood if you hit them with your sword. Like gold skulltulas, tektites, etc. Go try it...

Nintendo Gaming / Zelda: WW tops 300,000 pre-orders
« on: March 16, 2003, 08:52:06 AM »
Actually Ocarina of Time held it for a long time with 325,000, but Vice City recently beat it. But Wind Waker just broke Vice City's record before the Guiness Book even got a chance to change it lol. I guess a zelda game will always be in the Guiness book for pre-orders...(why do they even have the pre-order record in the Guiness book every year...I'd care more about other things..). Anyway the latest official number is 560,000 but it might crack 600,000 within the week...

Nintendo Gaming / shadow link
« on: March 16, 2003, 08:47:32 AM »
There are plenty of cheap ways to beat Dark Link (not shadow link on ocarina...ask Navi), but I have never used anything but good old swordfighting with the Master Sword. Well of course I used magic and items but I didn't use the hammer...sheesh, so cheap...

Anyway, Dark Link is a sub-boss, not a boss. Morpha is the Water Temple boss. Don't worry, it's easier than Dark Link...but not as fun..Well it is funny to see link get hoisted off the ground and thrown about..

Nintendo Gaming / What did Metroid Prime and Fusion get from Famitsu?
« on: March 16, 2003, 08:44:22 AM »
What did Prime get? I know it's out already in Japan. Not sure about fusion but if it's out what did it get? I really hope Prime does well in Japan, they have been missing out on a great series (Japan didn't even notice Super Metroid..).

I saw two previously rented Eternal Darkness copies for $10 each at the nearest blockbuster..(we have like 10 within 20 miles...)

Edit: Oh and our blockbuster (Atlanta suburbs...the non-ghetto ones by the way) has lots of ED copies for sale...Maybe it's more popular here.

As for a 14 year old buying ED. I'm 15 and I bought ED from Compusa the day Warcraft III came out (I snagged a collector's ed.). I just gave the money to my mom and told her to buy all this stuff while I go play the demos or something.

I beat the about 20 hour Star Fox Adventures in one 7 day blockbuster rental...And since this is 10 hours, you should be able to beat it in one rental.

Nintendo Gaming / Gamecube LAN games?
« on: March 16, 2003, 08:15:12 AM »
Um, since when is GCN getting FFXI? First of all it's online...Xbox would be a better choice now. Second of all, the Japanese PS2 version is selling like crap, and I'm sure the US version will too.

I'd much rather have online FFCC since you wouldn't have to have 3 other players in your room all the time...

Nintendo Gaming / Good Racing Games
« on: March 16, 2003, 08:05:06 AM »
Burnout 2 is the street racer I'm waiting for. This takes the good old arcade racing genre and makes it good again. And the GCN and Xbox versions will be much better than the original PS2 version, just like Burnout 1 (Criterion does good "ports", thankfully).

If you want something more realistic, you could go for Street Racing Sydicate which is more of a simulation. But that's not out yet.

And of course there is Lambourghini and Mercedes-Benz World Racing coming later..

946
I'm sure the Sims will sell great, even if you don't think it's a great game...Hey, it's the sims, and it's about to be on consoles. There are like 10 times more console players than PC players, and this game sold 6 million on the PC...

Nintendo Gaming / GameCube Controller to PC connector
« on: March 16, 2003, 07:59:25 AM »
Yeah that's what I want to know. I'm sure the analog sticks work fine since the latest good PC gamepads have dual analogs. But I haven't seen a PC gamepad with analog triggers...Do they work? And can you set the "clicks" as extra buttons? Like say you are in a driving game. The R trigger will be an analog accelerator like a gas pedal, and clicking it will cause a nitro boost or something. Can you do that?

edit: Never fear, I have all the answers. There is a FAQ on www.lik-sang.com about this device. According to it, the dual analogs work perfectly as long as the game supports analog, the R and L triggers both support analog so they can function like gas and brake pedals in racing games, and yes, the clicks on the R and L buttons work. Nice...I want one..

So is there any place at all where I can buy it without importing?

TalkBack / Wind Waker Most Pre-Ordered Game in History
« on: March 12, 2003, 11:10:52 AM »
Of course it has sales in it left. Ocarina of Time pre-sold 325,000 units, which was the record until Vice City came along. It went on to sell 8 million+ worldwide (N64 version only of course). I'm sure far more than 600,000 people plan on owning wind waker. Let's see....around 4 million or more (guesstimate by me) own Ocarina of Time in the US, so that's about 4 million or more than might not want to Ocarina of Time disc since they have already played the game. Your average joe might not care about the hard more that is master quest. Anyway, at almost 600,000, Wind Waker is already in the top ten US GCN games in terms of sales, if not top 5. It will definately go on to become number 1 and I have no doubts that it will sell 1 million in the US very quickly. Wind Waker is already a million seller worldwide including preordered copies, joining SSBM, Luigi, Rogue Leader, Mario, Metroid, and whatever else has added up to a million now. I'm sure things like Resident Evil, SFA, and Pikmin are a million too. Oh yeah duh and Sonic is most definately a million seller worldwide...

TalkBack / Teens Still Controlling Game Market
« on: March 06, 2003, 12:11:17 PM »
Well, like Ken Lobb (formerly Nintendo, now MS) recently said in an interview, if anyone bothers to do some research, they'll find that the average age in the GCN user base is far higher than anybody thinks. I mean, how many kids do you know that owns a GCN compared to your friends (i'm assuming they are teens or adults..)? My twin cousins who live near here are 14 now, and they bought a PS2 last year. I told them to buy a GCN, and they wanted one too, but they got a PS2 in the end. I don't know what happened, but I'm sure it has something to do with their little friends. Of course, they regret it know, have returned all of their games such as GTA3 and such (they kept MK and FFX because MK has multi and FFX wouldn't be taken back ) and go crazy when I drop by with my GCN and Smash Bros. I'm in the 10th grade and almost everyone I know with a GCN is in high school or older. I know plenty of little brothers and such with GCNs and some crap games like Simpsons Road Rage and what have you, but I did notice that most people with a Cube are either in elementary school or high school....I really think Nintendo needs to look at this seriously, but then again, their isn't an easy way out. If they make some ghetto pimpin' GCN ads with those ha-ha losers with the "phat" music pumping (rappers I believe they've been dubbed) they might look a little cooler, but I'm sure they'll lose plenty of respect from the 15-25 year olds who grew up playing Nintendo (ie all of you and the majority of GCN owners).

TalkBack / ATI and Nintendo Further Their Partnership
« on: March 05, 2003, 09:22:57 AM »
Perfect Cell - first, look at the date of your quote. If you kept up with news you would know that Nvidia recently settled with MS. Also, let me warn you, gamers.com is not a very reliable source (compared to Gamespot, IGN, or here), and also, apart from the super big announcements, they often get some things wrong, speculate, or neglect updating smaller news items. Anyway, ATI is not working on the next Xbox graphics chip, trust us. Go look up the news...
