Family Guy, Futurama, Simpsons, King of the Hill... I love all these.
And some complain about the Simpsons going downhill.. ok that's nice, but that doesn't mean you should forget about all those awesome episodes (and by all those I mean a crapload of).

Remember though, midi's are often simply incorrect since they are written by fans listening to the music. Although, whatever. If you just want the notes to a melody midi's are the way to go, although they are often in the wrong key, but if you are good at music you should easily be able to transpose the music to any key (although this is a lot easier if you play piano or percussion because of the keyboard layout).

No worldwide Xbox is well past 14.1 million, and yes they were at 14.1 million then .... Otherwise the number MS released would be different

Not only that, they stole Blonde Hair(TM), owned by Disney, along with the notes G flat and B.

Forgive me if I'm mistaken, but doesn't the DS require all games to play at a constant 60 FPS?  If so, that'a great quote.  Can someone grab the exact quote from IGN for me so I can replace my signature?  (I refuse to give IGN a hit.)

Well that's what I though too.
But then again we all just believe a little website by a newb designer who probably had no idea what he was talking about. Also that site (the blue/black one) was info from a long time ago.

I highly doubt Pocketeers could develop an entire high profile game on DS and fail to notice that the hardware forced 60 fps or crashed trying.

So we can believe some dude who supposedly worked on Sprung, or someone with an actual name and a finished game.

Or the other solution, is that the DS locks 60 fps for all games but slowdowns still occur normally just like any console/PC game unless the developer attends to the problem. From the blue/black site I figured the DS would just crash or something if 60 fps wasn't maintained, but it could be something really minor like developers have no choice as to what fps to lock a game at, it has to be 60, not 30 or whatever. But slowdowns can still occur without the DS doing weird stuff.

Nintendo Gaming / NFS Underground 2 DS
« on: February 16, 2005, 10:56:54 PM »
Over at http://ds.ign.com they have a new developer interview on the near complete NFSU2DS. Pretty interesting. By the looks of it this could be the DS's best game so far apart from Mario.
The graphics look nice (no videos available though), the dev. says they are proud to have it at a constant 60 fps, and they say that the vehicle physics and gameplay is very close to the console version. Also he says that you can do "anything" with the decal drawing tool, and the touch pad nitrous controls actually look useful, unlike that other crap on the second screen in current DS racers.

All that's old news though, the cool new thing he mentioned, is that the DS version will have an exclusive new game mode (i forget what it's called). He says they worked hard to make this game mode take full advantage of the DS's second screen. He won't say much about it, other than it employs an important GPS tool on the bottom screen and that the gameplay has something to do with managing turf wars and simultaneously getting the best times, or something like that.

Also he says it supports 4 player multiplayer in all game modes, and features stat tracking. (i'm guessing every player needs their own cart, although it's not mentioned).

Looks cool...

Nintendo should confiscate the data and make it into an MMORPG in Wind Waker's universe.

Actually, Word Recognizes Playstion, but you have to spell it correctly--it's PlayStation.  However, it doesn't recognize GameCube.

Actually I just opened up Word.
It recognized Xbox, PlayStation (but not Playstation), and Gamecube.
So I guess you're actually all wrong Or need updated Word versions...

« on: February 16, 2005, 09:58:10 PM »
You know the Tales games are graphically not that advanced so what's the problem of having it on PS2 instead? It'll sell better and more people will buy and enjoy it.

Oh but I forgot, the only people that deserve it are the Nintendo fanboys, about 5% of which actually bought Tales of Symphonia

Anyway there's always the possibility of a GCN version being announced, especially since ToS did fairly well.

Well then don't look at the final score or graphics score. Just look at what they give to gameplay or tilt
Besides those two things are weighted more than graphics and sound and value.
Also, you said it yourself, graphics influence the game, so they need to influence the final score. A game doesn't deserve a perfect or near perfect score if any one category is seriously bad.
Anyway like I said the graphics category hardly affects the final score anyway.

I think Gamespot has the best game reviews by far... Who did you have in mind that writes better reviews?

Most people by now probably know that Gamespot has an awesome interface that keeps track of your game collections, friends, and reader reviews, as well as great forums.

So I thought all of us who visit Gamespot should post their usernames here so we can all be friends

Mine's Gamefreak72
I have some reader reviews too, although I have a weird approach to them. I have these huge charts and spreadsheets where I keep track of how good games are in specific categories (such as music, artistry, graphics engine) from 1 to 10 at the time of their release. My reader reviews don't really have much textual content (hey just read a real review if you want that), I just use them to jot down my overal impressions from games and put in the scores. Although I review all games as soon as I finish them I'm too lazy to actually update Gamespot with all of them..
Anyway...

The best way to manage game lists is to use Gamespot's game services.

Well there's mine. Just select Gamecube under filter to see GCN games my brother or I actually own.

Nintendo Gaming / RE: playing USA bought games in Ireland/UK

Well new PC games are usually very tame after you get past installing it (they need to never ship a game on 5 CDs again! what's wrong with a DVD?).
You don't even need to check for patches anymore since the game will automatically download any new patches whenever you try to play online. And if you play single player only then patches probably won't affect you anyway.

Nintendo Gaming / RE: psp is online now wheres nintendos plan
« on: February 15, 2005, 07:48:09 PM »
Actually, IGNDS's Craig Harris says that from what he hears from developers, that's exactly what happened. Nintendo just sat there and thought third parties would make online games on their own, but they didn't want to without Nintendo even acknowledging or supporting online play (like GCN), so apparently Nintendo is currently in the process of making some sort of standardized interface (or maybe just add online software to DS dev kits) to help out developers. Also there is talk that Nintendo and Square (it's unclear if they are doing this together or seperately) are both setting up servers dedicated to online DS play.

And of course Word recognizes Xbox... By the way, you can add words to Word's dictionary. Just type in a word, and if it's underlined in red by World, right click the world and click "add to dictionary"

General Gaming / RE: 30% MORE Battery for PSP?
« on: February 15, 2005, 07:36:56 PM »
Well unless they ship it with standard PSP's it doesn't matter.
And 30% more than current still doesn't put it near DS.
Playing Ridge Racers with the wifi switch on, sound on, and high brightness will get you like 2 hours. DS doesn't even have a wifi switch (it constantly sends out a wifi signal), whereas just turning the wifi switch on on a PSP will almost halve the battery life.
Anyway better battery just means more money. It's not like Sony doesnt' have the ability to increase battery life, they could put it a battery that lasts twice as much as DS, but it would be extremely expensive. The DS uses the same battery as SP but higher voltage, but it's more expensive.

You know, IGN's reviews aren't really bad. As long as you just stick to the text it's definately above average compared to other sites. It's nonsensical scores which hurt IGN... Mostly from the PS2 and Xbox sites mind you. The PC and GCN sites at least try to limit scores.

Well the think that helped kill DC was piracy...
I mean, every kid I know with a DC, no matter how casual of a gamer, has copied DC games. Usually most of their games are copied.
