Nintendo Gaming / Zelda soundtracks? Which is the best?
« on: May 04, 2003, 06:45:15 PM »
I have to say that although the Wind Waker soundtrack is great, and features some brilliantly hidden references to lots of old Zelda music (and some not so hidden ones, like the Hyrule Castle theme), I still don't think the pieces were as good in Ocarina of Time. In my opinion Ocarina of Time still has the best soundtrack, and only lacks the Overworld Theme (of course, but Hyrule Field is good keep that, at least for Goron trail and Lake hylia and such...), and one of my favorite Zelda songs, the Dark Overworld theme from Link to the Past. But i've found that the Dragon Roost Island is the only great new song...and it's not as hummable or unforgettable as songs like Saria's Song, Gerudo Valley, or the Song of Time.

So what are your thoughts on the Wind Waker soundtracks and how it stacks up against the older ones?

NWR Feedback / Game Trailers
« on: May 02, 2003, 05:24:49 PM »
Maybe this is because of space issues, but I noticed you guys hardly have any movies for games, but plenty of pics. Could it be possible to upload at least the trailer for each (or at least most) of the games, so people will at least have something to watch...

Nintendo Gaming / What do you think of IGN's Top 100 games ever?
« on: May 02, 2003, 05:14:56 PM »
If you go to IGN's Top 100 page you'll se they are doing the top 100 games of all time. Every day they are adding ten more games. So far they have 100 through 51...

What do you think of the list? What do you think will make the top ten?

Also, remember this is more like a hundred "greatest" games of all time not hundred "most fun" games of all time. The difference is that "greatest" sort of incorporates several issues, as in the impact the game had, how revolutionary it was, etc, as well as how fun it was...
So just cause you think Advance Wars is better than Resident Evil 2 you should say "how dare they put RE2 a slot higher than Advance Wars". They were both fun, yes, but RE2 was more revolutionary and had much more of an impact. Advance Wars is, yes, probably a lot more fun to most people, but it's not to much different from the other Wars games and didn't induce a whole genre to appear...

Nintendo Gaming / So what else does EAD have?
« on: May 01, 2003, 08:10:26 PM »
Ok. About 1000 people work at EAD. That's a loooot. Consider this, burnout was designed by like 5 people. True, Ocarina of Time was developed by over a whopping 200 people, but that was one of the most high profile games ever.

So let's see what they are working on...
Animal Crossing 2
Mario 128
Mario Kart - should be finished or almost finished
Pikmin 2

I may have left out some stuff...but I count 4 games for 1000 people...what else could they be working on? Totally new franchises? Remakes (eck)? Do you think we'll see some surprises at E3, or only those listed?

General Gaming / Sonic Heroes on Xbox and PS2, yay or boo?
« on: April 28, 2003, 05:48:02 PM »
Obviously, Sonic Team didn't have a choice in the multiplatform matter...but how do you feel about Sega's move. This is one of the only times I don't really care. It will probably still sell best on GCN anyway....and being exclusive isn't something that you can show off to your Xbox and PS2 buddies. Now if Streets of Rage was released, I'd want it to be GCN only, but for some reason I find myself not caring that this will be multiplatform.

Nintendo Gaming / GTA3 and Vice City coming to Xbox and GCN in 2004
« on: April 28, 2003, 05:25:47 PM »
As soon as the next GTA game is published on PS2 in 2004, it will publish Vice City and GTA3 on GCN and Xbox.

Just thought you might want to know

Carry on...

Nintendo Gaming / GBA SD Digicard Adaptor
« on: April 23, 2003, 03:14:19 PM »
So, does anyone think that it will ever be released? It was announced back when the GCN was unveiled. I really want one....just think of the possibilities.

Sure, they aren't cheap, but SD cards aren't that expensive any more either. And a 128 mb card can hold any Nintendo cartridge game ever created. Just think about it. If Master Quest were released on one (yeah I know, it's not cheap), it could keep it's rewritable features from the N64DD. Now, I'm not sure how fast the GCN memory card slots can read data, but it shouldn't be too bad...especially since a lot of Ocarina of Time can practically be dumped into the GCN's RAM.
Nintendo could sell old SNES or N64 games on these cards. Again, not likely, but come one. For example....a new Super Mario All Stars? All the NES and SNES mario bros. games, plus Super Mario Kart could fit onto an SD card. Heck, you could even throw in Mario Kart 64 or Mario 64 if there is enough room left. I doubt either of those games are over 16 mb...if 8 mb.
Or you could give away classic games with preorders like Nintendo did with Master Quest. Get F-Zero X and expansion with preorder of F-Zero GC.
And think about what could be done with GBA Connectivity or GB Player. Or, you could actually put new NES or (hopefully) SNES games from the next Animal Crossing onto your memory card and play them from any gamecube you want.
And of course....with even just a 32 mb SD card, you'd have more than enough space for saves than you probably would ever need.
And what about downloading MP3s onto a card and then listening to the tunes via enabled games like Xbox games
Heck, Nintendo could even set up vending maching type booths or something (like the Pokemon Snap ones) where you pay a little money and download classic NES or SNES or N64 games onto your own SD-card...

EDIT: Oh crap I screwed up....GBA digicard?? I meant GCN. For some reason I posted this here and put GBA in the title....Can someone please move this?

NWR Feedback / Update the Companies!!
« on: April 21, 2003, 11:45:58 AM »
I know this may be a daunting task, looking at the huge list of companies, but still, someone needs to update them. There shouldn't be any outdated information on this site unless it's in the news archives. I mean, your Silicon Knights profile says that Eternal Darkness "might" come out on Gamecube, according to rumors....That's like, from before the GCN launch....

Unfortunately, IGN commited the same crime. Don't make a section of the site and forget about it! If it's there on the main menu, people will be going there....

Nintendo Gaming / Worldwide Million Sellers
« on: March 18, 2003, 11:18:03 AM »
Okay. So what are the GCN world wide million sellers by now? As far as I figure, they are...

Super Smash Bros. Melee - almost 2 million in US, almost 1.5 million in Japan, and not sure about Europe...
Super Mario Sunshine - 1.5 million in US, at least a million in Japan and Europe combined.
The Legend of Zelda: The Wind Waker - 600,000 in US, somewhere around 700,000 to 900,000 I believe in Japan...
Luigi's Mansion - not sure of the numbers, but it's around 1.2 to 1.5 million i think worldwide.
Sonic Adventure 2: Battle - over a million in the US alone, not sure about the others
Star Wars Rogue Leader: Rogue Squadron 2 - should be a million worldwide
Pikmin - same here
Star Fox Adventures - definately a million worldwide by now
Resident Evil - same
Resident Evil 0?? - I believe it's a million worldwide, might be a little less though...
Metroid Prime - like almost 900,000 here I think, and Japan has like 70,000, I'm not sure if it's out in Europe...In any case it should be a million by now or very soon...
Super Monkey Ball?? - possibly..someone fill me in

Am I leaving out anything? And how long till Zelda (about 1.3 to 1.5 million) beats Melee (like close to four million)?

These are worldwide of course in US it's just SSBM, Sonic, and Mario. In Japan it's just SSBM...

Nintendo Gaming / Online Game Boy Advance games via your Gamecube
« on: March 17, 2003, 02:29:21 PM »
Why hasn't anyone thought of this?

Broadband Adapter + Game Boy Player + simple GBA games easily coded for online matchmaking = online GBA games

No more searching around for people with all the stuff you need just to play four swords or mario kart. That really really hurts, and if you can have LAN multiplayer player through the gameboy player why not take it the next level and get online?

And this would also speed up sales for GCN, appeasing our penny-picking friends at Nintendo. Not to mention give online a boost, convincing Nintendo to take action with online GCN...

Nintendo Gaming / What did Metroid Prime and Fusion get from Famitsu?
« on: March 16, 2003, 08:44:22 AM »
What did Prime get? I know it's out already in Japan. Not sure about fusion but if it's out what did it get? I really hope Prime does well in Japan, they have been missing out on a great series (Japan didn't even notice Super Metroid..).
