NWR Feedback / RE: Trading on these boards...
« on: January 30, 2005, 06:08:50 PM »
>If they had a trading section of the boards there would most likely be some shmuck who rips someone off. Then the ripoffee would probably blame PGC and it would be an annoying mess.

I wouldn't think that'd be a problem as long as PGC put a disclaimer up... many sites have trading boards on 'em...

And, at least, with a trading board, it'd be easier to post about bad traders than if the trades only took place via PMs...

I'd like to know...

I know that pure SPAM ("Look at my auction" or "Buy my stuff") posts are not allowed here, but are any kind of "I'm looking for..." type posts allowed?

I ask because I know there are quite a few Aussies on these boards and I *really* would like to get ahold of the e-Reader cards in Pokémon Channel and I'd like to see if someone can help me out... But I don't want to cause mass panic by posting something that's not allowed...

And has there been given any thought to a Barter Board here?  Buy/Sell/Trade any video game related merchandise?

The shape/size of the unit isn't really a concern for me - it looks like some bluetooth wireless adaptors (something like what you'd plug in to a USB port on your PC that would let you communicate with a palm pilot or mobile phone)...

However, I don't think this can be linked to DemaSked - because, supposedly, DemaSked isn't supposed to cost us anything more than the price of the DS - and something tells me that I won't be able to call Nintendo and get me one of these for free...

Of course, that doesn't really mean anything...

Nintendo Gaming / RE: Can't make an NFL game? Try this, Nintendo
« on: January 27, 2005, 04:58:07 PM »
Well, it's a shame that the replies didn't get copied over with the thread...  Anywhoo..

I suggested in the other thread including an Offical version of the USB memory card that would allow users to upload their custom players/teams to the Internet so they could exchange their creations with other people easily...

It would also allow someone to recreate their favorite NFL team without having to actually have the NFL lisence... meaning one could, in theory, download the entire NFL for their game without the developers having to pay for the NFL lisence (that, now, they couldn't get if they wanted...)

Just a thought...

I apologize... I didn't mean for my ending comment to sound... rude?

I meant it to make light of the fact that the majority of us here are males and that males don't necessarly see women gamers as gamer, etc...

It honestly doesn't matter to me if Ms. Ruberg has boobies or not, because I'm married.

I don't mean to sound rude or anything, but I'd like to see Ms. Ruberg write something not about being a "Girl Gamer"...  I don't know about anyone else, but to me it's painfully obvious that a company is going to use women to advertise to a target demographic of men ages 18-25, and I'm still not quite sure the point of writing about women gamers picking women characters... (I like Peach in SSBM...)

There's so many things to gripe about or explore in the gaming world and I'd like to see a woman's point of view on some things... I really hope Ms. Ruberg doesn't get stuck in a slump where she only writes on topics that focus on the fact that she has boobies... err.. that she's a girl.

Nintendo Gaming / RE: DS External Battery Pack?
« on: January 26, 2005, 02:10:17 AM »
I don't have a clue (I'd check Play Asia), but I do remember some kind of Hand-Crank that you could hook into the GBASP (and, therefore, the DS, I'd assume) that you would just turn like a pencil sharpner to charge your battery...  LIke 15 mins of turning was supposed to give about an hour's worth of play (I think)...

'eh, phone numbers are *real* easy to find anyway...  I'm not too worried, I've had my phone number in my signatures on various message boards (including GameFAQs, if you can believe it) for years and have never had an issue come up...

I did once have the head of an international multimillion dollar company call me once... that was pretty cool.  (And yes, I'm serious... and yes, I know 100% that it was him because I was good friends with some other people who worked at the company *and* this individual has a certian... I'd almost call it a lisp, but not so much....)

Anywhoo, I've made some good friends from it, so 'eh...

14111
Umm... yeah, it's my phone number, why?

Let me say, first off, I *love* the site and have for quite some time...  It's one of two places that I rely on for my Nintendo news (The other being GameFAQ's boards, and that can be... questionable at times)...

And I'm very thankful we get all the stuff on this site for free!  I understand the high costs of Internet Bandwidth and such - and thus I understand the need for ads to pay for all the great news and features we get here...

But...

http://rightmedia.net/51/5366/120x600_gamecube_blackflash.gif

I hate these kinds of ads...  Not the "Free stuff!" ads - while I'm no fan of those all over the place, I don't "hate" them.  It's the big, flashy, "Let's give everyone seizures" types of ads that I hate...

It is my opinion that any ad of this style, I will *not* click on, even if they do offer to give me a free Gamecube for doing absolutly nothing.   I hate these ads and I really wish they would just go away...  PlanetGameCube should aim a little higher in the ads it allows to be placed on its site.

Please?

I thought the GBPlayer was still $50...

Anywhoo, naw, I already have the GBPlayer... (if you look at that picture, you can tell by looking in the top, right hand corner...)
I got the PSone LCD combo basically for the LCD screen (although there are some PS1 games I'm going to get now...) and was playing around with it last night, hooking it up to my DVD player and various other systems... Having the PSone playing a GBA game using the Gamecube with an SNES style controller amused me a lot. ('eh, so I'm easily amused, what can I say?)

>Crave Entertainment, a leading publisher of console videogames,

Who?

Seriously, there's been like four games or so from this company?  I'm amused by how they put this on every press release...

Of course, I wouldn't be so hard on Crave if they hadn't completly ignored the GCN when they originally released their Intellivision collection awhile ago...  Yeah, they've released it since, but I'm still ticked they ignored me in the first place...  (I still need to pick this one up sometime...)

Nintendo Gaming / RE: minish cap - kinstones
« on: January 12, 2005, 04:11:11 PM »
It would only be legal for you to play the game via emulation if you created the ROM you used to play from your own, legally obtained original cart.

Technically it would be 100% illegal for you to use the captured screen shots for your own program, but depending upon the program and how it's used, Nintendo would typically look the other direction.

You do know that the GBA/GC link cable does not allow you to play Game Boy Advance games on the GameCube, right?  I remember when I worked retail, there were quite a few parents that had that misconception...

Nintendo Gaming / Wario Ware Extreme Micro-game Madness
« on: January 09, 2005, 04:42:08 AM »
While this would be a very cost-prohibited game for many people, what would you think of a Wario Ware game that worked with:

The GCN Controller plugged into Port 1
A GBA plugged into Port 2
The MadCatz/DDR Dancemat pluged into Port 3
The Donkey Konga Bongos pluged into Port 4
The Mario Party 6 Mic plugged into the Second Memory Card Port

Maybe you could set the game to exclude whichever mini-games you don't have the equiptment to play...

Too fun or too much?

TalkBack / RE: Nintendo and Konami Announce DDR with Mario
« on: January 07, 2005, 05:22:48 PM »
>Let's look at how many games Mario has appeared in, in this generation...

Now, let's compare that list to the SNES generation (generally considered Nintendo's prime)...  SMW, SMW2, Yoshi's Sarfari, Super Mario All-Stars, Super Mario Kart, Mario Paint, Dr. Mario/Tetris, Super Mario RPG, Mario's Time Machine, Mario is Missing, the three Mario's Early Years' titles.. Anything else I'm missing?

Anywhoo, anyone who is excited about this needs to be thanking Mad Catz...  Perhaps their unexpected move into the game-market gave Konami a bit of a scare....  I wonder if their dance mat will work with this version of DDR...  Might give me an excuse to pick up the Mad Catz game, since I'll need a second mat...

Nintendo Gaming / GBAO11 Cases
« on: December 29, 2004, 03:51:56 PM »
I went in EBGames the other day and found some pretty spiffy cases for GBA games.

They're made by A.L.S. Industries - one of the few companies that bother to get their products lisenced by Nintendo.

The cases are great quality - their general design looks greatly based on the design of the old cases that game with original GameBoy games back in the day. A nice, hard plastic case that folds open on the left side (instead of the top) and has a tab that you push in to open the case (instead of something that snaps down (and off after a lot of use). Each case snugly holds three GBA games (or loosly holds up to six DS games - or a combination of the two) stacked vertically. Unfortunatly, the design of the case prevents you from holding older GameBoy/GameBoy Color games.

The pack I purchased had three cases in it - each featured a very, very light blue tint to them. The package was a simple blister pack and priced at $5 - a pretty good deal.

Anywhoo, just in case anyone is interested...

And on a side note, thanks to Nintendo and these neat cases, you can hold Zelda 1, Zelda II and Zelda III all in one tight little package.

Nintendo Gaming / RE: Games with kickin' Surround Sound?
« on: December 27, 2004, 07:32:23 PM »
Hey!  Thanks for the lists and advice guys!
I haven't had much chance to play with my new setup gaming-wise (between movies - still gotta watch T2 - and Simpsons Season 5 - there's just so little time).  Soul Caliber II sounds *awesome* in surround sound.  I need one of those new fangled TVs with that glowing ambient light stuff (heh, yeah, right...) - SCII would really be quite cool then...

Anywhoo, Strangly enough, my Super Monkey Ball box totes a "Dolby Surround" logo on the back... Although, as you said, the SMB2 box does not.  Weird...
