NWR Feedback / Banner ads on top... (640+ Pixel Picture warning...)
« on: November 17, 2005, 06:16:30 PM »
I'm going to post a picture that's more than 640 pixels wide, but I hope it's okay, since it's one of the banner ads on the top...

Personally, I don't care, but I know a lot of those who work on the site have the ads turned off, so I figured I'd make sure everyone who needs to know knows - since this seems like the kind of ad that could cause some upset mommies and daddies out there (perhaps they're mad that no one advertised condoms to them before hand...)

Anywhoo... Just wanted to point it out... I've seen it a lot lately.

NWR Forums Discord / Mario Kart DS ads you'll never see...
« on: November 17, 2005, 04:50:07 AM »
Okay, Here's an idea... Let's come up with zany ads or taglines for Mario Kart DS that Nintendo will never make.

I'm thinking "The Internet - now for more than just porn" and "Whip up on Japanese people from the comfort of your own bathroom".

Nintendo Gaming / Intellivision Lives! DS - Only $15 - out now!
« on: November 14, 2005, 03:03:17 AM »

Hot Damn! Just got this in my inbox this morning!

INTELLIVISION LIVES! FOR NINTENDO DS
In 1980, Intellivision brought a number of innovations to home video gaming: animated characters, the first 16-bit processor, voice games. But best remembered is the unique Intellivision hand controller, featuring a directional disc, action buttons and a touchpad. Every game came with an overlay for the touchpad, with icons that helped the player quickly master the controls.

No game system has had a controller this sophisticated – until now. The Nintendo DS features a touch-sensitive screen to control gameplay. Using this touchscreen to display the overlay icons from the original Intellivision games, players will properly experience the thrill of these games for the first time in 25 years!

Intellivision Lives! for the Nintendo DS features over 30 classic Intellivision games running in full emulation. Introduced at the industry's Electronic Entertainment Expo in Los Angeles in May, the public had its first chance to try it out at the Classic Gaming Expo in August.

A release date has not yet been scheduled, but Intellivision Lives! should be available in the first half of 2006.

Just judging by this one little screenshot, this collection will be approx 10 billion and two times better than the PS2/XBox/GCN compilations (The controls just did not work...)

I'm almost as excited about this as I am Mario Kart.

Almost.

General Chat / Do you register your Nintendo stuff?

Does anyone else make a habit of registering every Nintendo product as soon as they get it, or is it just me?

I was at GameCrazy last night and picked up the Hori Digital Controller (that absolutly wonderful - and licenesed - SNES look-a-like controller for the GCN). I imported one about two years ago or so and *loved* it. The one they had was black (which, if I'm right, was the only color released here in the states) and the one I had was the indigo, so I figured I'd grab it to throw some support Hori's way and just incase I need it for the Revolution...

Anyway, it was marked $14.99 but when they rang it up, it was only $9.99. Worth checking out if you have a GameCrazy near by (I believe GC was the only major chain that carried these).

Nintendo Gaming / Mario vs. Bowser (DS game idea...)
« on: October 27, 2005, 07:09:14 AM »
While in the shower, I was thinking about what could be a pretty fun idea for the DS/Nintendo WiFi Connection.

It's a two player game, the first player playing as Mario in what would appear to be just a regular, ordinary Platforming game (a la Super Mario Bros., et al.) where Mario must save our fair princess from the evil clutches of Bowser. The Top screen displaying the actual game, the bottom screen displaying some various stats for...

The second player, who plays as Bowser (or "Bowser's Army"). Your job is to keep Mario away from the castle at all costs. You'll have control of a limited army (for each level) and be able to pick and choose where/when the enemy is deployed. You'll get a few seconds head start in front of Mario, placing your enemies throughout the level (although there'd have to be limits - like you can't place enemies on the screen that Mario is currently on).

Now picture this - the top screen shows Mario jumping from mushroom top to mushroom top (like SMB1 Level 1-3). On the Bottom screen, the second player gets to choose the level and frequency (of course, the cannon would need to be reloaded and moved up and down!) that Bullet Bills get fired out at the first player.

Think this would work?

Nintendo Gaming / Stupid Pink Stylus...
« on: October 26, 2005, 01:03:32 PM »
So I finally manage to scrape together some extra cash that's not reserved for other various things that I can talk my wife into letting me spend on some games (thanks to those glorious Best Buy Bucks from McDonald's!)...

So I finally pick up the Kriby DS game... and find out that Nintendo is no longer offering the Pink Stylus...

How sad. At least I got a fun game (Two, as I also bought DK:KoS... Yay BBB!)

With the Up-Coming Nintendo Wi-Fi Connection , how's about a special forum here on PGC for online play consisting of GameCube (via WarpPipe), Nintendo DS, Revolution (at a later date, of course) and, perhaps "other systems"... Just a thought...

General Chat / Yee-Haw! I'm a-gettin' DSL!
« on: October 20, 2005, 07:15:15 PM »
Well, I got a letter in the mail last week saying that I'm now able to get Verizon DSL at home! So I'm getting me DSL - Just in time for the DS to go online...

Anywhoo... I'm wondering, Verizon offers two different plans for me, the cheaper one being $15/month for 768kbs... Should that be fast enough to go on-line with the DS? Anyone have any clue?

What is going on?!?! </Xander>

Nintendo Gaming / The Legend of Tingle: Remarkably Peculiar Game
« on: October 06, 2005, 10:07:33 AM »
Hmm.... What to think of this game idea.
Will it expand more on existing Hyrulian storyline, or perhaps it will introduce an entierly new aspect of the land of Hyrule.
Will it revolve around one of the "existing" Tingles (Majora's Mask, Wind Waker, Oracle of Ages, or Hyrulean Adventure) or will it be a brand new Tingle?

An RPG presents an interesting possibility - will there be a "party" of characters? Perhaps Knuckle and the gang from Wind Waker? Or entierly new characters made up just for this game? A little of both, perhaps?

This game could be quite interesting to say the least...

Nintendo Gaming / Nintendo Wi-Fi connections... in Wal-Mart?
« on: October 05, 2005, 07:01:37 PM »
I have a theory that I cannot wait to try out...

Every Wal-Mart (including the one I work at) that has a 1-Hour Photo Center has a high speed internet connection in them. I do not have a high speed internet connection at home.

So... I'm wondering... I know that the computers at work are locked down pretty tight as far as accessing off-network things - but I also know that they can access the internet (with some effort). I can't wait for the Wi-Fi Adapter to come out, I want to see if I pop this puppy in if I'll be able to get it to work...

These things cost, what, $20-$30 each? Could you imangine every Wal-Mart in the US having access to the Nintendo Wi-Fi Connection? Wouldn't that be sweet?

General Chat / Arr! Nintendo's Customer Service be the best there is!
« on: September 19, 2005, 08:53:08 AM »
Shiver me timbers! My DSs touch screen became worth a bucket of chum a few moon's turns ago. While it still be protected under the Nintendo Warranty Pact, I sent the DS off to home port for repairs. Today, the Pirate with the Brown Ship delevered a new DS - with, to m' surprise, a new 1-year warranty pact! Loyality to Nintendo's Customer Service I say! Unlike other scurvy dogs who stab you in the back after 90 days, Nintendo stands by their oath!

General Chat / Ask Reggie:
« on: September 16, 2005, 06:28:37 AM »
Okay... Supposedly Reggie knows about us. I remember someone saying that he mentioned one time about people taking his face and posting it all over their message boards... I'd say, since this is the only board to do so, it's likely here that he was talking about (assuming he even said that ).

So let's play pretend. Let's pretend that in one week from this post, Reggie will appear and answer what he considers to be the top ten *best* questions. These questions could be anything Nintendo or Video Game Industry related (That, realistically, Reggie is able/allowed to answer, i.e.:No questions about the PS3's price or such) - but he'll only answer the "cream of the crop".

And you're only allowed to post one question each. So make your question good.

And after you post your question, stare directly into the moniter, say Reggie's name three times and if we're lucky, he'll appear.
