I didn't see it in the article, but I remember reading about how when they were doing motion capture for The Polar Express film, as I imagine is the case with anything involving motion capture, is that they can't place motion sensors on the eyes or tongue, so eyes can't show proper motion, and the characters speak with essentially a slab of meat in their mouth. The result is a lack of natural motion and emotion. When the face is where people naturally look (I mean, you can't stare at a woman's chest all the time...>_<
, not-fully-realistic things will tend to break down real quick.
