Nintendo Gaming / Silicon Knights... Next big thing?

But hopefully, this trend of excellent games continues (even Rare had their bad games - look at Mickey's Speedway), THEN we can call them Rare. But why should we call them Rare when we can call them Silicon Knights and Retro Studios?

Yeah I have to agree with Termin9Anakin. Retro and SK are showing great promise but we have to see more from them before we can say they are the next Rare. I don't want them to be the next Rare to be honest. I would want them to be better. Rare's most recent work was on the same level as their previous titles. Some of their games were stellar but then you get the Donkey Kong 64's and Banjo-Tooie collectathons that droves most of us insane. SFA wasn't a bad game but its hardly a game with the replayability that Goldeneye and Perfect Dark had. I serious hope that the artwork for PD0 by Rare was some sort of sick joke...if they really do that to Joanna....then I'm glad MS got Rare.

Although one still has to wonder what does the referrence of Twin Snakes in the title means. There's got to be something other than Solid and Liquid being in the game.

Yeah that is a cool theory and I'm glad we are getting an upgraded version of MGS....but if thats the case I rather that they start at the original Metal Gear. I can barely remember the game and an all new version of it would be like a new game. Come to think of it I have a better idea.....why don't they remake the 8 bit Metal Gear titles on GBA with connectivity to the GC MGS titles At the very least, since they are remaking MGS, they could remake Metal Gear: Ghost Babel for GC for GBA to connect to MGS:TS. I still don't like how they called Ghost Babel, Metal Gear Solid in the US....they could have at least called it Metal Gear Solid: Ghost Babel....sigh but thats another issue all together.

Wha...? I never even noticed that......what the heck has been on your mind Matthew Anyway Matthew's strange observations aside.....the box art for F-Zero GX just flat out sucks. I mean with all the cool vehicles in F-Zero.....we get a lame and huge picture of Capt. Falcon with a smaller picture of him in his vehicle. What gives Nintendo....jeez its bad enough they botched Metriod Prime's box art....whats next? A Mario 128 cover with just a fireflower on the cover?

Nintendo Gaming / Gradius Galaxies
« on: May 06, 2003, 08:47:53 PM »
Has anyone gotten this title so far? If so how does it compare to the previous Gradius titles? Does have the same feel, difficulty and fun factor? Does it compare well to Ikaruga and is it worth having both? Sorry about all the questions....but as the saying goes....if you don't know ask. I confident that Gradius Galaxies will look and feel like Gradius...after all it is developed my Mobile 21. And since Mobile 21 was co founed  by Konami and Nintendo.....it should as good as if Konami themselves created it. Too bad Mobile 21 was created just for GBA support.....I would like to see them to a GC version of Gradius or maybe even do another Gyruss.

General Gaming / Stealth I.E. E3 line up for 2003-2004!

Hmmm....this sounds nice and all but I'm not inclined to buy into this story without some sort of reliable proof. Anyone can post a "press release" without any corresponding proof. If you could link us to any article confirming this it would be appreciated. Until then I and probably everyone else will take this post as pure conjecture. Anyone at all heard of this press release outside of this post?

Nintendo Gaming / Any Lufia fans on the board?
« on: May 06, 2003, 04:11:27 PM »
Yeah I like the Lufia series also. To be honest though I was kinda of hoping for GC version of Lufia. Not that anything is wrong with putting it on GBA, but the GC needs all the high quality RPGS it can handle. I beat Lufia 1 but I need did beat Lufia 2. It was a much better game than Lufia 1 but I just didn't have the cash at the time to buy it(wasn't old enough for a job during the SNES days) and I rented it a couple of times and thought it was cool.

I like Jazz too Rhoq, she's the Goldberg/Brock type character that the womens division needs....to bad the way they are booking her makes her look weak now. The whole Teddy Long race angle annoys the hell out of me...but thats another topic. I wonder if Jeff Hardy's been removed for the roster....since he got fired over his drug problem they could take him out and put someone else in. Given the date of its release.....they should still be able to maek changes to the roster. I wouldn't be surprised to see La Resistance or Sean O'Haire in the game at this point.

« on: May 05, 2003, 07:19:39 PM »
To be honest Strange its best to buy both. The stories are interconnected and while buying the first game isn't a necessity to understand the story.....it makes your experience with the Lost Age much better. Plus you can transfer you data from the first game into the second. Am I the only one keeping my fingers cross for a GC version of Golden Sun being shown at E3?

Any ways, I thought the movie was great. Humans pretty much got their butts whiped, and I think X-3 should return to their mutant vs. mutant style. I'd like the introduction of Sinister and/or Apocolypse in that part. Mainly because those are the two best badass villains next to Magneto.

About Phenoix, they could have it that she's been manipulated to Magneto's/Sinister's/Apocolypse's side into Dark Pheonix, so the X-men gang must duke it out against them. I'd also like Toad and Sabretooth to come back; they didn't officially die in X1, and Sabretooth is Wolverine's nemesis. It's a sad thing that Deathstrike died (I never knew she had healing powers like Wolverine), she kicked ass.

Was it just me, or did the healing process of Wolverine go tooo quick. He's pretty much undestructable.

P.S. Iron blood thing was smart and kick ass.

Yeah I felt bad about Deathstrike too, at the moment Wolverine killed her, her eyes turned brown and it looked like she had no idea what was going on. Its like she woke up form Strykers control 5 seconds too late. As far as her healing abilities, as far as I know someone correct me if I'm wrong, Lady Deathstrike had no healing factor. I think they just added it to the movie to make her fight with Wolverine more interesting. In the comics Wolverine and her used to have a thing together....of course Wolvie has scored with numerous women...too many to name actually. Anyway I would have much rather have had them kill Toad instead of Deathstrike.....but thats just me. Anyway a Dark Phoenix themed movie would be cool. I hope Colussus has a bigger role....seeing him in X2 for the little time he was in there was cool though. Cyclops did have a small role in X2 but they had to make room for Iceman and Pyro. Speaking Cyclops...I wonder if his brother would ever make an appearance.....but thats another X-series. I haven't collected comics in quite sometime. Does Havoc still lead X-Factor?

Hopefully EA can do Superman some justice. The last two Man of Steel titles have hardly been impressive. Done properly a Superman title should be an excellent game. There is a lot of material to work with and a lot of story lines to draw inspiration from.

Hogan is an icon of the industry. I am sure now that he has been given a new gimmick to work with - THQ and the WWE will want to milk the idea for all it's worth. The only way I can see them not using the "Mr. America" character is if the storyline fails over the next few weeks.

Team Angle (Haas and Benjamin) are the current WWE Tag Team Champs - I sincerely doubt that THQ would be foolish enough to not include them in the game.

With all of the rumors surrounding Goldberg, I wouldn't be surprised if THQ had already designed the character for the game months before he was signed...I have faith that WMX9 will be just as good as Smackdown SYM.

I agree that Team Angle better be in Wrestlemania XIX, also I think Jazz should be on the roster as well. She is the Women's Champion.....not that that means much. I'm so sick of the Jazz vs Trish/Trish vs Victoria/Victoria vs Jazz deal. If they are going to do a womens division....at least attempt to give us some variety. Not the same match week in week out, year in year out.

I was quite impressed with your response Grey Ninja. The article made some points but failed to see the big picture on a lot of their qualms. As you said it frees up Nintendo to develop brand new hits to draw in a new generation of gamers. I'm still looking forward to the new 1st party games Nintendo plans to show off at E3 myself, wonder what genres they'll cover or if they will just be in all new genres. I know one thing, I would appreciate an official English version of Fire Emblem..but thats another topic all together. Hmm....it seems I'm only one without an avatar....I'm gonna have to change that.

They will be making MGS.

There is a big difference. Dinosaur Planet was already in development and then they just changed the game's story and added characters. They aren't taking TH and turning it into MGS. They took Dinosaur Planet and turned it into SFA. Big difference.

Sigh.  I hate the fact that I know Bloodworth is around and wants me to play nice with you guys.

READ WHAT I SAID PLEASE.  I said DROPPING TH for MGS.  I did NOT say, nor did I EVER say, that TH is turning INTO MGS.  I'll admit I implied that in my first post, but that is NOT what I meant.

PEOPLE, IT'S CALLED LITERACY.

And besides, I  clearly labeled it speculation.  I could damn well be wrong.  You people do NOT know anything more than me, so quit acting like you have insider news.

*sigh*

All posts in response to this will be ignored, because if you can't understand what I've said by the third post, maybe you should get yourself a copy of Hooked on Phonics.

Strell....I'm gonna play nice and pretend you just didn't insult our intelligence or reading comprehension skills. I didn't misread your post and in fact I said you are "way of base with your speculation. You said "Silicon Knights. My guess is this is another case of Star Fox Adventures. What I mean by that is Miyamoto looked at Too Human and said "This is good, but it's a lot like MGS." And then he called up Kojima and said "Let's do lunch." And then they looked at Too Human, and Kojima burst into maniacally insane laughter, screaming in Japanese "Puny American mortals! Can they not match the power of KOJIMA? It is useless! Obey the fist! THE FIST I SAY!" At this point I like to imagine that one Iraqi minister guy, "Baghdad Bob," joining in the fray, screaming completely HILARIOUS lines, such as "Nintendo has never made a game in their life! I made them all myself! I modeled Link after myself as a mere child!" Oh and since you know all and we are all just blithering idiots that can't read. I'm sure you knew Silicon Knights aren't puny American mortals but Canadian. No one said they were better than you. YOU are the one that got all bent out of shape over our responses to your posts. I would say more but.....I said I'd play nice.

Nintendo Gaming / OFFICIAL Metal Gear Solid: Twin Snakes Discussion
« on: May 01, 2003, 07:34:56 AM »
Strell your completely off base with your speculation. Too Human from what I understood was a RPG. So I fail to see how it could be cancelled for being to much like MGS. Even if it where similar to MGS, even if it were in the same genre, that doesn't mean its the same basic game. RE1,RE0, and Eternal Darkness are in the same genre but ED plays completely differently and better IMO than RE. Anyway....what was going to say? Oh yeah. I read the link at Gaming-Age and it sounds interesting but I think they got their wires crossed. I think they confused the part were is says Twin Snakes will be a remake of MGS with MGS2like graphics. It would be cool if Twin Snakes was a remake of MGS and MGS2 but I doubt it.

You missed FFantasyX's point Mouse_Clicker. Nintendo announced sometime ago that in March they sold 20% more Gamecubes than they did in February. Nintendo sold 164,000 GCs in February. A 20% increase would mean the GC sold 196,800 units in March.

Hmmm....I never thought of it that way. Those numbers could be the total number of consoles sold since the beginning of this year, but if thats the case....it means Nintendo sold 782,576 Gamecubes last month. I know Zelda sold well and I really would like that to be true but I doubt it. Oh and if you are wondering how I came up with that number. In January 81,000 GC's weres old and in February 164,000 GC's were sold....so I added the two together and took that number away from the supposed March sales numbers for GC.

While EA's sports games also have lower slaes in comparison their PS2 and X-box versions on GC, the sales are still high enough to justify the port. I mean Sega's sales were horrendous on GC. Part of it was lack of interest and part of it was their fault. I know that from my personal experience I bought Madden 2003 and NBA Live 2003 because they actually came out the same day as the PS2 and X-box versions. I wanted the buy the Sega versions but they always came out a week or two after the PS2 and X-box versions.

Thanks for the advice Nitsu, but I used to work for a credit card company and I know I can dispute the charge. Unfortunately I wouldn't be able to dispute the charge until May 10th. A merchant has 30 days to provide service before you can dispute. So I'm gonna keep hounding them but I will NEVER order anything from them again. I advise anyone that is thinking of ordering from them to no do so. I've called them 3 times and gotten the run around and emailed them and gotten no response. I'll call them on my next day off which is Wednesday and I'm going to be an a--hole. I hate to do it, I always try to be civil but they are giving me no choice. Somebody's surpervisor is gonna ship my stuff ASAP or I'm going to the Better Business Bureau and disputing the charge.
