NWR Feedback / Pop-ups are one thing...
« on: September 27, 2005, 10:31:21 AM »
But could you please do something about the uber annoying popups that take 3 clicks to get rid of? I know you need these to keep the site running, and if its just a single window that I can close out of, I don't mind.

But these new ones that open a dialogue, then open a window, then open another dialogue are a little much.

Thanks.

General Chat / Extra Life for Kids Marathon!
« on: September 20, 2005, 09:08:33 AM »
Hello fellow PGCers...I come to you asking for help.

http://www.cs.nmsu.edu/~pdougle/ELFK/index05.php

On October 8th and 9th, I will be taking part in a videogame marathon for charity. Its 36 hours long, from 9am to 9pm the following day, and it takes place at New Mexico State University in Las Cruces, New Mexico.

The charity it benefits is the Childrens Miracle Network, and last year we raised over $1500.  Not bad for 36 hours of "work".

Sadly, this years charity comes at a bad time.  With the aftermath of Hurricane Katrina, most people have already given their hearts out.  So...I come asking that if you have anything else to give, it would be much appreciated.

If you do have something to give...even a dollar or two, I would be very much obliged if you would "sponsor" me in this years charity.  You can give however you want...by the hour or just a one time donation.

http://www.cs.nmsu.edu/~pdougle/ELFK/elfk_05_sponsorship.php

You should recognize my "tag" in the pulldown menu...although, I suppose if you wanted to randomly sponsor one of the other people, it would be ok.  All the money is going to the same place, so it doesn't really matter...

But you don't know them, do you?!

Anyways, thank you for your time.

General Gaming / Shemue 3 to be on 360: Multi-platform Release Possible
« on: August 25, 2005, 11:04:29 AM »

This is first time I've actually felt a need to purchase a 360.

Hopefully, they -will- go multiplatform and I won't have to.

What I really love about this is it will be Shenmue 1 and 2 as well, so I won't have to track down a DC copy and a Freeloader to play #2.

General Chat / Batman Began
« on: June 15, 2005, 12:02:13 PM »
I just got back from a Noon showing of the new "The Batman" flick, and I must say it kicked alot of ass.

I enjoyed watching...just about everybody (aside from Holmes, who was just kinda there).  It was nice seeing Oldman in a non villian role, for once, and Bale did an excellent job.

Liam Neeson pretty much always = awesome.  As was watching the guy from 28 Days Later play an excellently creepy Dr. Crane.

I suggest you go right out and watch this movie.

===
Now...is the videogame any good? I heard it was short.

General Gaming / Kutaragi has lost his mind. (possibly)

Quote

"We're positioning the PS3 as a supercomputer", he says, "But people won't recognize it as a computer unless we call it a computer, so we're going to run an OS on it. In fact, the Cell can run multiple OSes. In order to run the OSes, we need a hard disk. So in order to declare that the PS3 is a computer, I think we'll have [the hard disk] preinstalled with Linux as a bonus."

Is it just me, or has Kutaragi finally gone over the deep end?

Or is this, as I suspect, just some elaborate hoax?

Nintendo Gaming / Nintendo Versus Everyone!

This is a very interesting article and a pretty good read.  While I've read most of the points he makes already in this forum, he does a very good job of stringing them all together and sounding very much the "Anti-Ian", in that if they keep doing exactly what they have been, they'll not only be fine, but come out on top in the end.

Anyways.  Your thoughts?

General Chat / Return of the Screen Savers!

or TWIT as it's now known.

Fans Unite!  Leo, Patrick, Kevin and some other people return!

Ever since their untimely demise at the hands of Tommy Tallarico, the ScreenSavers have been off air, and general consensus is "This sucks."

It sucks no more.

In various formats, including Podcast, MP3, and Ogg Vorbis.

...does anyone actually use Ogg Vorbis?

I was in Gamestop the other day, buying PM2 and chatting it up with the sales clerk.  I already have my DS preordered, and have loads of money down on the sucker.

Anyhoo, he says (very cryptically, mind you), that he has it on from a reputable source (which he also didn't come out and name) that the likes of Starfox64, COnkers bad Fur Day, and even Goldeneye are all up for porting to the DS.

Just the thought of those three on the DS is enough to make all a twitter.

Anyways...I know more than a few people who utterly hate the DS.  They see it as nothing more than a cheap gimmicky replacement for the GBA, no matter how much I argue.

If one were to assume that those three games, plus others from the 64, are actually going to be ported in the near future....would it be easier to call the DS a portable 64, as opposed to an entirely new system? I think I could sell more people on the idea, and not just drive them into a blind rage at the mere mention of the system.

Thoughts?
