Nintendo Gaming / RE:Further meaning to enhanced graphics.
« on: September 22, 2005, 08:04:38 PM »
An additonal executable and entire texture/model set would take up quite a bit of space. That said, there are two storage mechanisms--the internal flash memory and memory cards. Assuming that both the flash memory and memory cards both will be low in storage space, which they probably will be, I can see them filling up very quickly.

Unless you meant that it would download each time into RAM, which is also limited, but that would alienate those without Internet access.

It was confirmed a long time ago that for first-party games, playing online will be free. Of course, you still have to have an internet connection which, obviously, is not free.

I have a 3M "Scotch-Brite Microfiber Cloth" that I picked up for my glasses (just happens to work well on other surfaces, too) at the Wal-Mart Vision Center for no more than a few dollars, if I remember correctly. It works very well.

"I don't get it though. It can't possibly be that hard to create a good Pokemon RPG."

That's what many think about Sonic the Hedgehog in 3D...

I would actually hope they would charge a fee for a guide like that. Don't get me wrong, it is a very good idea, but sometimes I have trouble just overcoming the temptation of going to GameFAQs to find a solution. I can imagine if it were only a few button presses away I would be doing it more often, which is not what I want. For those that do want it, though, I can see the convenience.

General Gaming / RE:Could sony replicate revolution with eyetoy???
« on: September 18, 2005, 10:08:58 AM »
There is no way the EyeToy can rival the Revolution when personal hands-on accounts are saying that the Revolution's controller is more precise than a mouse, as hard as that is to imagine. The EyeToy will never be able to compete with that.

This game will totally rock. It really reminds me of Yoshi's Island and how it broke from "tradition." Definitely cool.

Stevey: No, they aren't the same...

Don't get me wrong, I am totally looking forward to New Super Mario Bros. as well, if not more. However, I think that it is more properly suited to sprites, not polygons. Nintendo have always had a great ability to create detailed and original looking sprites. With all the polygonal games that became the norm with the N64 in 1996, we see that less and less. I just think it would be cool for a game that is reminiscent of the classics in gameplay to have a graphical style that is, too.

The game seems to borrow heavily from Yoshi's Island and Mario & Luigi, at least graphically. I wish NEW Super Mario Bros. would have gotten sprites as well, even if many do seem to be "borrowed."

I have played the Mario Superstar Baseball demo with my father and we had a lot of fun. One of about 3 games that my dad can play well and have fun with.

Are you implying that Reggie pays kids large amounts of money for candy?

Pfft...yeah right! He would just take the candy from the kid because...he's Reggie!

Nintendo Gaming / RE:New Miyamoto Interview
« on: September 05, 2005, 09:19:02 PM »
Well of course gameplay is the primary focus of a game, but other elements can improve the game. The story of Wind Waker was more engaging than any other Zelda game before it (in my opinion) because of the fact it broke from the Zelda "formula" a little. It just didn't start out with "Hyrule is in trouble, save us!" Gameplay always comes first, but in a game like Zelda story is important, too.

Nintendo Gaming / RE:New Miyamoto Interview
« on: September 05, 2005, 08:25:20 AM »
I think that the Zelda storyline has become cliched (three items -> radical change -> more items -> boss fight), with a few exceptions. Wind Waker helped correct this some, and I think Twilight Princess will help even more.

Though I must admit that I, too, would buy a million more cliched sequels.

Stevey: How does changing the series from the "present form" immediately sound like new/reinvented items (which Twilight Princess is supposed to have), skipping dungeons, multiple ways of beating a dungeon, and turning Zelda into a FPS? All I got from the comment is that Miyamoto wanted to change the direction of Zelda games in some way...

General Gaming / RE:Nintendo patents........

As soon as I saw the "Rumble Pak" mentioned that immediately set off a red flag for me. That surprises me that a patent would take that long for approval.

Nintendo Gaming / RE:More Revolution details soon?
« on: September 02, 2005, 07:49:59 AM »
I agree, it seems like the mystery concerning the controller isn't enough to hold Nintendo anymore. They haven't given us any minor facts to keep our attention, either. Something like more details on the download service (pricing, selection, etc.) or a little clip or screenshot of a couple games. However, the time for minor tidbits is way past and I think that now is the time to unveil this sucker once and for all.

Does anyone know how large the gap was between a large-scale GameCube unveiling and its release, for comparison?

518
I think you are stretching it, Stevey. How is Microsoft/Sony following in the footsteps of the Nomad? Or better yet, how is Microsoft following in the footsteps of Linux (which doesn't seem to fit in that list)?

519
Difficulty of development could limit the amount of games produced on PS3 (or other consoles as well), which would probably make many Sony lovers angry as they are used to quantity over quality, at least I think they are.

Nintendo Gaming / RE:Could this be close to the REV controller?
« on: August 24, 2005, 07:30:28 AM »
Well you'll notice that some PDAs and touchscreens (like those on a Tablet PC) only work with a special magnetic stylus. That would prevent accidental touching, but it would also require use of a metal disc or stylus, as they suggested. They also say that a person could use "the finger." All joking aside, this would point to some sort of accessory you wear on your finger because human flesh obviously isn't magnetic.

Wow that's a really powerful video. I think Nintendo should continue that type of advertising: "A proud history. An exciting future." as it says on the top of Nintendo's corporate page.

Nintendo Gaming / RE: Horrid Rev Controller Ideas
« on: August 20, 2005, 06:46:40 AM »
Nintendball? Well just like a bowling ball you are going need several different sizes depending on the size of your hand. I can imagine it now:

Person A: Hey you want to come over and play Super Smash Bros. on my Nintnedo Revolution?
Person B: Sure!
A: So...what size bowling ball do you use?
B: What?
A: You know, just out of curiousity.
B: ...Maybe I'll just go play Xbox 360 at Person C's place.

And so Person A loses another friend to that arrogant Person C because of his video game controller.

You and me both. I am 100% sure they did. Oh well, later is better than not at all, especially since not everyone browses the forums.

I think that was Stevey's most well-written post on the forums. Not only did it have good spelling. But I learned something about the file system on the card.
