Very informative spreadsheet. Does that data include global sales, or is it just Japan?

Yeah one puzzle is availble for play. It is really cool because you select a square, then you can write a number in. Write a large number if you know you have the answer, or write a small one to leave a note for yourself of possibilities. It is really nice.

I saw one of these in Best Buy a week ago and conveniently had my DS in the car (I usually keep it at home). It was great to try out Brain Training. The only problem I had was that Brain Training didn't accept the word "blue". Not from me, not from my sister, not from my mother. I suppose the kinks are still being worked out, but what was there was great. Sudoku is great on the DS.

I live within 30 minutes of Bellevue square! What would I say to the Reggienator? Even if I don't talk to him, I can at least see him in person, which would rock.

I will be picking mine up tomorrow afternoon. I can't wait!

I really don't get it all. How large would the screen be? Is the Rev going to project images to it? Wouldn't that only allow one screen and require the Rev to have specific placement? Wouldn't the screen be ackward to use? What are the benefits of this?

I 100% agree in that we need DK Mountain. That course rocked.

Well I believe some members here have complained about their inability to see stereoscopic imagery properly. If that is a frequent problem then I doubt Nintendo would use that type of technology.

I think that it makes just as much sense to use a 3D controller on a 2D screen as it does to play the 3D games we play now. It is essentially a 2D plane, yes, but we can interpret the depth in a 3D fashion. When we see a person far away in a game, we can tell that they are far away.

Would 3D displays be an evolutionary step in gaming and all media displayed on a television currently? Yes. Are stereoscopic glasses the way to achieve that? I don't think so.

TalkBack / RE: What are those green links on PGC?
« on: October 26, 2005, 03:46:45 PM »
I get absolutely zero ads on PGC with my Adblock + Filterset G and Flashblock combo.

Edit: Filterset G is a list of websites/objects that are commonly the source of ads. You can download and import this text file into Flashblock or you can use this extension for automatic updates. The homepage is here.

Flashblock should help remedy that, wandering. Many sites used a scheme where an invisible Flash object will launch the link. Flashblock makes it so you have to click on every Flash object before it can start. This may seem annoying at first, but eventually it just becomes natural. I would take a quick click over a pop-up any day. Most sites use Flash frivolously, anyway.

I am so pumped for Nintendo Wi-fi Connection. I purchased a new wireless router recently and reserved Mario Kart DS today.

I think that a separate forum would be the best. Maybe with automatic threads created for each day for improved organization (Ex: "Mario Kart battles for 11/14/05") and announcements for official tournaments. Then within the daily threads people could just say, "Anyone on for 6:00 PM PST?" and match up like that.

One month is so far away...

The Hot Rod Red DS will come with a checkered-flag wrist strap and a series of racing-inspired decals to let owners customize their rides with sporty numbers or red-hot flames.

So the flames and numbers are optional.

The Tingle RPG will be interesting, for sure.

I believe that it comes from how Miyamoto will often take a hands-off approach during the development of games. Then, when he evaluates the work and sees what needs to be better, he "up-ends the tea table" and sort of makes the team take a new direction or redo what was wrong.

Someone please answer me this: If Nintendo includes a traditional shell with each console and additional controller what, aside from lack of HD, would be wrong with the system? You can say that we don't need the remote to begin with, but I really think we do. Otherwise, it would be too difficult to handle the gyro feature and the analog stick at the same time, and I really like the idea of being able to do that.

About past "mistakes" I think that for the most part Nintendo has done the right thing from a quality and business standpoint, but the public interprets it wrong (I suppose you could argue that what the public wants is always right). For example, the N64's cartridges. Everyone was bashing Nintendo for the choice of cartridges over discs, but the load times were horrible on other systems. Nintendo waited until the time was right to use discs, and now we have the best of all worlds--cost, size, and load times.

The same goes for online. Nintendo might have held off for a long time on online, but now we are getting a free online network to play games on. Whether they could have accomplished that in the past on the GameCube I don't know.

I think the main real mistakes Nintendo made were related to marketing and initial appeal. The purple color, non-descriptive ads, etc. This may have turned consumers away, which turns developers away. However, if Nintendo can correct these minor problems (which it seems they are) I believe they will be more successful next generation than in the current one.

I was just playing Mario Sunshine again earlier today (first time in while) and was having a blast rediscovering how easy it was to move around. Of course, I play games frequently, so I understand that those who don't (and many who do) may have trouble.

Nintendo Gaming / RE: DS Case Colors
« on: September 22, 2005, 08:19:45 PM »
Yeah I have made the same mistake somewhere before as well. As far as I know, Brittish people don't mind being called "Brits," so logic would tell you that "Japs" is the same, though it is not.

I'm not extremely big on the colors, but if I was given the Japanese's selection and didn't have a DS already I would probably not get silver.
