Since they connect with Ruby and Sapphire, I'm asuming they updated the move list, but that brings up an interesting point.  Did GameFreak add any moves or new mechanics that were previously unseen in Pokegames.
Oh is the TM list the same as the first Red and Blue/Green?

If you still have the power cable, you can use the GCN A/V cables for your N64.  I'm assuming you're missing the power cable, but just in case, that'd good info to know.

The orignial full metal panic is awesome but it ends really badly.  Not Evangelion bad though, so if you have the money to spare you should pick it up (if you're against just downloading it using Bittorrent- it is still out there).  I prefer Fumoffu though, it is hilarious.  Download it now before it's licensed.

Man, I hope so but I don't see Square's incentive to remake for Gamecube only.  I'd imagine this on PS2, before I would on GCN.

Metaphysical Spirit, you'll love the last two episodes.  Hands down, best anime ending I've ever seen.

Thanks Aussie Ben.  You probably haven't had the opportunity to do much trading, but I know when I used to trade alot I got angry when my pokemon didn't remember who its original trainer was and forgot who was feeding it (You know tameness).  When you get the chance could you tell me if Pokemon retain their memory of their old trainers or better yet if their tameness stays the same when you trade them.

That's why you never over analyze anime and its characters- it grosses you out.  I'm taking Bill's approach.

General Chat / RE: Is it money or software thats the root to success
« on: February 15, 2004, 05:22:47 PM »
The problem is the video game industry has shifted... I'm not just talking about Nintendo falling from its glory, but the fact that it has turned into a place to make lots of money with such a huge fan base.  New players such as Microsoft have come into the game market seeking to capitalize on the new industry and many companies are willing to spend a blockbuster movie's worth of expenditure to produce and then hype games.  Software is holding on, but money and flashiness are becoming a large trend in this age of gaming ruled by ADD afflicted casual gamers.  Nintendo seems to always make a profit so thank goodness they're not going anywhere anytime soon, but when crap, such as Enter the Matrix, is on the top ten games list because it cost a movie to make and had a weak association with mediocre sequels, I'm thinking the bulk of gamers are not looking at quality software but gamovies and their advertising.

If you keep doing that then you should have bought them.

Honestly that is my dilemna with video game rentals nowadays.  On the N64, I rented a lot because it was rare that I could manage to save 50 or 60 USD for a game.  When Perfect Dark came out, I rented that thing three times before a bought it and then I came to the revelation that I should have just bought it from the beginning.  As a result I tend to use reviews as my guide for games I'm unsure about.  It works pretty well with only one mistake this gen- Turok: Evolution.  Damn early release!

What about Johto? and Pokemon Contests? Is this game a straight update of the first two?  If so what about the Pokemon Nintendo locked away from us when GSC were made incapatible with Ruby and Sapphire?  Do they appear in Kanto now?

TalkBack / RE: Japanese Developers Discuss Nintendo DS
« on: February 13, 2004, 07:54:09 PM »
What I find so funny about EA's lack of support is that the demo Nintendo showed the world is how this could expand (though minorly) the sports genre by giving the player different perspectives of the field.  The one important developer who seems uninterested is none other than sports specialist, EA.  Sigh.  But yeah I'm with Ian, EA has always ported their stuff over, and from the japanese developers comments it sounds like the system is easy to work with.

Sonic Team's Yuji Naka - "We've been waiting for this! We'll be sure to try out something new with this"

Sonic Team trying something new?  It is about time .  (Yeah they did Billy and Heroes, ST defenders don't have to remind me.) Yuji Naka's got skillz, and now he has a sweet (sounding) tool.

Yeah I'm not so naive , but come on you have free radical right there now.  If I was EA, free radical would be making all my FPSs, especially Bond ones.

« on: February 13, 2004, 03:27:01 PM »
Recently I've been watching Magical Shopping Arcade Abenobashi (a must see for huge anime fans) and I got to the fifth episode (the dinosaur one - Extinction!).  Sadly I didn't get most of the references to the anime so I wasn't laughing as hard as the previous three episodes.  Does anyone know where a good deal of the parodies for that episode come from?
Thanks much,

Before closed down- No.  Tingle tuner is a very bonus feature.

However, I think the industry is just moving in the direction of adding more and more cool, new, dare I say... innovative features.

AMac2002, what innovative features?  Adding a DVD capability and a hard drive? Those features were on PC first making them not very innovative on PS2 and Xbox.  I'm not saying unuseful, just unoriginal.

Nintendo Gaming / RE:All these Mario titles, WHERES MARIO DODGE BALL!
« on: February 09, 2004, 06:08:51 PM »

Anyway I personally think Mario has been overexposed and that's why Super Mario Sunshine didn't sell as much as it should have. Most people just see at least one Mario title on the shelves every year so they fail to get the significance of a new Mario platformer. These endless Mario sequels are also creating a stigma that Nintendo isn't innovative and just releases the same crap over and over again like some Japanese THQ.

I completely agree with this.  The Zelda franchise which is spinoff free, other 4 swords which keeps the essence of Zelda and the upcoming tetra's trackers (hope they can it), will forever be one of the most anticipated franchises ever.  It is almost unfair that they sacrificed mario and crew to make a lot of those titles work.  But Bill I'm with you, I NEED Italian Plumbers playing tennis.

« on: February 09, 2004, 05:55:04 PM »
I have no sources for this or anything but I think this is a power move by EA.  EA knows Nintendo needs them.  For the most part Nintendo develops for their niche and EA puts out the sports titles that appeal to everyone else.  EA and Nintendo have strong business ties and I think EA now wants a bigger piece of Nintendo pie.
