I just thought this up and I'm not sure if its been done here before, but I was just noticing that if you put all(some) of the users names together you could probably tell a story of some sort.

ie. Even though my UncleBob Knowsnothing about Bill Aurion, he knows that Bill did once Smoke39 BlackNMilds back in 2k1 while Wandering through the streets of NYC.

something along those lines, but I'm sure you guys could come up with something alot better than that quick attempt(I just used some names I saw in another thread a moment ago).

Nintendo Gaming / Can I have my Wii back!!??
« on: December 24, 2006, 08:50:49 PM »
Seriously, I just wanted to show it off and see how my mom and sister would like the system.
Now someone tell them its mine and I want it back. I mean, come on, its almost 2am and I keep hearing the tennis balls getting smacked, the pins getting knocked over and some oh.so.soothing music inbetween.

I have some Yakuza to kill/save, some Rabbids to entertain, and I even have a quest to begin that involves saving a princess... looks like its all gonna have to wait, cause I have offically lost use of my own Wii(I know there's a horrible joke in there, but I'm not gonna touch it ).

Am I the only one having this problem?

Nintendo Gaming / Backwards Compatabilitly and Wii/DS connection
« on: December 21, 2006, 06:25:04 AM »
I know that while in 'GC' mode the Wii doesn't read the Wii specific HW, and we also know that Nintendo said that Wii is 100% B/C with all GC games. But what about games like Homeland that uses the internet connection? can it connect througt the Wii? And what about games like FF:CC or Pac Man Vs.? Do we really have to go out and track down conncetion cables and GBA's when we all have perfectly capable(& wireless) DS/L's that have full GBA capability?

SO you guys think its possible that Nintendo will put out a firmware update that will not only allow 'GC' mode to link up with the DS wirelessly but also allow 'GC' mode to access the Wii's internet, higher specs and/or controller to use as the user sees fit?

Maybe playing some MK: DD through that old tunneling program using the internet? Or maybe some bumped up graphics or improved frame rate(at the very least) for all the games. 4 player FF:CC,  4 player Pac Man Vs. or Pokemon Stadium using DSL's instead GBA's w/ link cables.

what do you guys think?

inXile entertainment Acquires Console Rights to Hit Internet Game Line Rider(TM)!
Tuesday December 19, 12:00 pm ET
Nintendo DS & Nintendo Wii Games Scheduled for Spring 2007

NEWPORT BEACH, Calif., Dec. 19 /PRNewswire/ -- Having already amassed a worldwide cult following on the internet, inXile entertainment announced today that it has acquired the rights to the hugely addictive 'toy' Line Rider(TM) and that the popular game will soon be available for both the Nintendo DS(TM) and Nintendo Wii(TM). Since its first appearance on the Web (www.official-linerider.com) on September 23, 2006, Line Rider has attracted over 15 million viewers to date and has spawned over 11,000 video posts on YouTube.com. Anticipated to ship in Spring 2007, Line Rider for the Nintendo DS(TM) and Nintendo Wii(TM) from inXile entertainment will retain all the fun and thrills of the addictive Web version, but will also include new added features.

Line Rider has received accolades from media worldwide. Time.com commented, "Line Rider is becoming one of the most popular flash games on the web," and The Wall Street Journal called Line Rider "Online gamers' new addiction." The Toronto Star noted that Line Rider was "a deceptively simple online game' and stated that it has become "the latest Internet addiction."

"I have been around the interactive entertainment industry long enough to have seen similar phenomenon like Tetris and Bejeweled become massive international hits, and Line Rider has all the elements to do the same," said Brian Fargo, chief executive officer of inXile entertainment. "Line Rider is like a fully animated Etch-A-Sketch® and will be perfect for the Nintendo DS and Wii."

Fargo continued, "The amazing thing is that it has appeal to almost everyone. I've watched 6 year-olds and adults play Line Rider and both were thoroughly entertained and captivated. Easy to pick up and play, and highly addictive, we are very pleased to be bringing Line Rider to video game players."

Described as a "toy" by its creator Bostjan Cadez, Line Rider allows players to construct their own track filled with as many ramps, hills, and jumps as they can imagine utilizing a pencil tool. Once the player is done creating their course, they can send a virtual sledder down the route until he wipes out. The possibilities in Line Rider are only limited by physics and the player's imagination with an almost endless number of variations and replay.

"Line Rider began its life as a project I did for illustration class," commented Bostjan Cadez, who created Line Rider in his native Slovenia. "As much as people see it as a game I think of it as a toy because there is no score and no one wins or loses while playing Line Rider. I'm looking forward to working with inXile entertainment on the new Nintendo DS and Nintendo Wii versions as they will bring added gameplay and features."

In a follow-up to this thread here is a Law Suit that supposedly led to this action.

Quote

Nintendo's announcement follows the December 6, 2006 class action filed in federal district court in Seattle, Washington which requests that the defective parts be replaced. It also follows about a month of increasing reports posted on the internet of damage and injuries resulting from the defective strap. Green Welling LLP, of San Francisco, California along with Siebken & Siegele of Austin, Texas and Short, Cressman & Burgess of Seattle, Washington, filed the nationwide class action lawsuit on behalf of the owners of the Nintendo Wii against Nintendo of America, Inc., in the U.S. District Court for the Western District of Washington.
~
The class action lawsuit seeks to enjoin Nintendo from continuing its unfair or deceptive business practices as it relates to the Nintendo Wii. The lawsuit also seeks an injunction that requires Nintendo to correct the defect in the Wii remote and to provide a refund to the purchaser or to replace the defective Wii remote with a Wii remote that functions as it is warranted and intended. For more information about the replacement program or this lawsuit, go to www.classcounsel.com.

But seeing as how Nintendo has offered to replace all the straps for FREE with no hassle to any customer, shouldn't they just drop the suit?

All you have to do is visit http://www.letsplaywii.com/promo and fill out the info, then sign up for a FREE 7 day trial to TRUE and they send you $20 worth of Wii points for FREE.

They basically walk you through signing up and then canceling your membership just to get the FREE points. You sign up today, then they send you an e-mail saying that it will take about three days b4 they can send your Wii points, and that you should wait just a few more days and then cancel our membership.

The only downside is that you have to give up Credit Card info, but it is several FREE VC games for me, should I ever get may hands on a Wii.

'This Week' column in Yomiuri Shimbun morning edition reports that Square-Enix will hold a Dragon Quest presentation this Tuesday (12th December).

Details about it are unclear at this point but its likely that Dragon Quest Monster Joker (DS) and Dragon Quest Swords: The Masked Queen and the Tower of Mirrors (Wii) will be present.

Still unknown at this point if new Dragon Quest games will be announced.

I'm prety sure they wouldn't hold a press onference w/o something NEW to announce would they?
Anyone think this could be the long awaited DQ9 for Wii announcement or is it still too early?

Nokia believes it can lure consumers away from Sony and Nintendo’s handheld platforms with its next-gen range of mobile phones.
Established publishers and developers have already signed up to produce content for the Finnish giant’s Nseries phones and S60 software, which are due for release early next year.

And now Nokia’s head of games for UK and Ireland Martin O’Driscoll has told ME sister magazine MCV that games consumers will be forced to make a choice between its mobiles, Sony’s PSP and Nintendo’s DS.

He added: “The consumer will have to make a decision: does he wants a standalone gaming device with a limited browsing capability or a phone with an MP3 player, a camera and a bloody good games platform? I think consumers will be prepared to spend £300* on a phone that offers all those different things rather than £100 to £150 for a standalone games machine.”

£300 = close to $600
I don't know about any of you, but I've never come close to paying anything close to $600 for a cell phone, regardless of what it can do.

I would almost pay to see Nintendo actually use this commerical for TV. It jsut shows how much the Wiimote out classes the sixaxis when it comes to motion controls. I give this commerical a 10/10 for quality, attention to detail, and one-upmanship.

Nintendo Gaming / Wii in Japan
« on: December 02, 2006, 08:29:58 AM »
I'm surprised that no one has mentioned the Wii launch in Japan and there is no thread abou it here(that I have seen).

I found a list that is supposedly from Nintendo.jp and list 101 games for Wii

Quote

Originally posted on: Wii60.com

The rush of Wii launch information today keeps coming, as Nintendo of Japan has updated its official Web site with a lineup of release dates for 101 games. While a lot of the dates are vaguely listed as "tba," Nintendo was very specific when it came to the system's day-one titles.

When the Wii drops in Japan on December 2, purchasers will have at least 16 games to choose from on their new systems, including a quartet of Nintendo games, according to the publisher. Joining expected first-party launch titles Wii Sports and Legend of Zelda: Twilight Princess are WarioWare: Smooth Moves and Hajimete no Wii: Your First Step to Wii. The other dozen launch titles feature new Tamagotchi, Gundam, and Super Monkey Ball games, as well as original properties like Necro-Nesia and Red Steel.

It also appears as if Nintendo might avoid the postlaunch drought of new releases that typically affect new systems. Another 10 titles are scheduled to hit Japanese shelves by the end of the year, including Western imports Need for Speed Carbon and Rayman Raving Rabbids. Nintendo will also release Pokèmon Battle Revolution in Japan sometime in December, before starting 2007 off with the US launch title Excite Truck in January, and a new Fire Emblem game in February.

[UPDATE] Among the 101 games are a few eyebrow-raising entries. First of all, Super Paper Mario (working title) is listed among the Wii games. Originally announced as a GameCube game, Super Paper Mario takes the aesthetic of Super Mario RPG and Paper Mario and places it in a platform game. Nintendo has not yet returned GameSpot's request for a status update on the GameCube version of the game.

Nintendo itself included a number of previously unannounced games it will be publishing, most of them new entries in successful franchises, and all saddled with working titles. Wii Yawaraka Atama Juku, is a next-gen version of the popular Nintendo DS brain training game Big Brain Academy. Donkey Kong Taru Jet Race should be the rhythmic platforming primate's first outing for the system. Hoshi no Kirby apparently stars the pink puffball Kirby, while the Animal Crossing brand is being brought to the system as Doubutsu no Mori. Cash cow Mario also had a new title slipped into the mix in Mario Party 8, which won't arrive until 2007, making 2006 the first off year for the long-running franchise.

However, Nintendo's also going beyond its firmly established franchises. It will publish a Wii game based on Eyeshield 21, the football-themed manga that spawned a DS game earlier this year. Finally, the company is working on a new game called Forever Blue. While Nintendo didn't detail exactly what Forever Blue would be, it's a safe bet it has nothing to do with the Chris Isaak album of the same name.

Nintendo games aren't the only interesting entries on the list. It appears the Wii debut of the Resident Evil series has been given the Japanese name Biohazard Umbrella Chronicles. In the Resident Evil series (known as Biohazard in Japan), Umbrella is the name of the evil corporation whose sinister research is more often than not behind apocalyptic zombie invasions.

It appears Sega is down for a gun-shooting game on the Wii, but the listing gives no hint as to which of the company's existing gun games franchises--if any--the game is based on. Sega created the successful Virtua Cop and House of the Dead franchises, as well as less memorable offerings like Confidential Mission, The Ocean Hunter, and The Maze of the Kings. There's also a listing for Pac-Man Carnival from Namco Bandai, although again, no details have been given about the title.

Nintendo Gaming / Non-Gaming Publications Support the Wii
« on: November 30, 2006, 05:58:51 AM »
I've grown tired of looking for the threads on news articles on the Wii (Time magazine says..., CNN says..., etc etc.) So I'm gonna make this thread for all Non-Gaming Publications that release news articles regarding the Wii. I know Popular Science, CNN/Money, Time, NYT, Washington Post and many more have released articles but I'm not gonna bother looking for them.

Here is an article from NewYork Times: A Playful Controller and 2 Alien shoot-em-ups
Quote

Most of the biggest, most highly anticipated video games of the year come out in the few months preceding Christmas. So why was I so bored? Big-budget games are coming out to rave reviews and big sales, but when I played them I thought, I’ve played these already.

Happily, the folks at Nintendo decided to do something about the stagnancy in game design. The new Nintendo Wii game console challenges designers to think outside the box with the inclusion of a special motion-sensitive game controller that looks like a television remote and allows you to play games in a remarkably intuitive fashion.

With a good story, great gameplay and a unique interface, [Twilight]Princess makes a great case for buying a Wii. The case for buying Sony’s PlayStation 3 is considerably weaker. Gamers who stood in line for days to buy what Sony claims is the most powerful gaming console on the market will have to wait longer still for something great to play on it.

Things will get better. The debut last year of Microsoft’s Xbox 360 console was almost as unimpressive as the PlayStation 3’s introduction, but now the 360 has Gears of War, a fantastic third-person shooter from Epic Games that is similar to Resistance but superior to it in every way.

But most of these games will offer a very familiar experience. Nintendo is gambling that the Wii’s innovative controls and relatively low price will attract gamers who want something fresh, even if the Wii is too underpowered ever to support a game with the glossy good looks of Gears of War. I hope they’re right. If the Wii makes innovation profitable, perhaps so many inventive games will come out next fall that I won’t even have time to play the boring ones.

NWR Feedback / IE 7 & NWR Forums

I don't know how many of you have upgraded to IE 7, which is much better than the past IE, but there is a script that NWR forums is running that doesn't mesh too well with IE 7 and constantly causes a very long hang-up for the window and any other websites I have tabbed within it.

Has anyone else upgraded or even still use IE, and if you have, have you experienced this same problem?

After showing upat Best Buy @ Midnight waiting for Black friday sales to begin, I fire up my DS and get to know a few people in line infront of me. After about 4 hours of waiting to get inside to hopefully score a new 32" LCD HDTV and/or a Laptop, store people come out side to pass out maps and give directions on what to do and where to go(he told us to place our orders for the TV next to Car Audio).

When we finally get let into the store @ 5am, I rush immediately to the spot the store guy told me to go to get my TV only to find out that he mis-directed me. To the car audio people tell me(and another kid) to goto to Home Theater, so thats were I run to. When I get to Home Theater he tells me the 32" I'm looking for is over by the Pink balloons next to the front door. Now I've made a complete trip around the store looking for where to get this TV. The guy next to the Pink Balloons tells me to goto Home Theater to get the 32" I've been looking for.

Only now when I get back to Home Theater, there is a huge line, and I'm at the back of it. I wanted to strangle the guy that Originally gave me wrong directions and the guy at Home Theater that also gave me wrong directions.after about 45 minutes of waiting in this line, which has barely moved, I see the little kid that went to car audio with me, and he had the 32" TV we were looking for. After another 25 minutes of waiting and only 10 miore people infront of me, they announce that there are "NO MORE 32" LCD ON SALE!!!!" . I was heated! 6 hours of waiting with 5 of it in the freezing cold and all for nothing.

I rush into the parking lot hop into my car and speed off to Circuit City where my back up TV and laptop are at. I arrive at Circuit City @ 6:15am this morning. Since I happen to work right next door to CC I also know a few people that work there and it came in real handy to. I happen to get the last voucher for the 32" TV and I managed to skip the impossibly long line that stretched across the entire store(my boy works at the register) and I had my TV in my car and was driving away all by 6:30. I wish I had just slept in and went straight to CC, it would've been 45 minutes from out of bed to back in it again.

Looks like I got my best buy at Circuit City. Anyone else do some shopping for Black Friday?
