TalkBack / RE:Wii Sells Big in Japan

actually "Gaikokujin" is foreigner, and "Gaijin" is outside-person...  :P   but yeah both are used as foreigner. ^_^

I'm impressed they used real Japanese in the game. Is there a lot of Japanese used, and is it real Japanese? Is it subtitled?

OMEDETOU to Nintendo.  ^_^

Shops usually keep a number back, so that they can still sell consoles to latecomers a few days after launch - and so they aren't totally itemless until , the next shipment arrives. I guess that's why not all 400,000 sold out straight away, but all available Wiis did.

Remember the hoohah over Wind Waker? Officially the most pre-ordered game of all time... I guess TP going multi-platform means that can't happen.
I read that the Gamecube TP is very popular in Japan. They know what's right.

How well did the Nazi-shooting MoH games go down in Germany? ...I don't imagine a game where you play as an American and shoot up Japanese guys would go down especially well in Japan, not one set in WW2 at least as it can still be a sore spot.

All my friends who completed Wind Waker, their savegames reverted to the start of the game and they were 'treated' to Link in pyjamas and a colour camera (which you can get anyway).

79
Excellent! Thank you! ^_^ Great news.

Anyone who has completed Twilight Princess, I have a question:

What happens to your save game?

I have never completed Wind Waker, simply because I have never wanted to... partly due to how much fun I have with it, and partly because I have read that when you complete it your save game goes back to the start. X_X
I spent a long time and a lot of effort collecting all the heart pieces and doing everything in the game... wiping all that seems more like a punishment than a reward.

So... what happens when you complete Twilight Princess? Is your save left intact, and you are free to wander Hyrule forever and do all the side-quests and collect those last heart pieces? Or is it cruelly wiped and you're forced to play it all again as Link in pyjamas??

Thanks.  ^_^

(P.S. PLEASE no info about the story, or about any rewards for completing, or anything like that. I havnt played TP yet, waiting patiently here in the UK for the GCN version... )

Interesting, but mostly amusing and nice that the BBC made it.

Also, news of Wii's release in Japan tomorrow (today, depending on time zone :P )

I guess because Nintendo would have to produce 600,000 plus Wii game cases?  :P

VG, if you only had to wait a couple of hours for yours, then you got lucky, plain and simple. So get off that high horse.

Based on what I remember from my town, if Nintendo had in fact shipped one million, it would just about have filled all the early morning lines. Everyone who got in later would still have missed out, but I'd say it would have more or less satisfied demand. Oh well.

Also: 75% bought TP? Who the hell are the other 25%? Besides Ian?

I'm thinking the the other 25% are first time gamers who've never played Zelda before, or more likely are people waiting for the Gamecube release.

I'd never have reckoned the whole Wiimote / Analogue thing would cause a rift between Nintendo gamers... :/

I read a review of Red Steel in NGamer, here in Britain. They gave it 90%.

Hype?

Or are they better at using the Wiimote than others?

Hmm.

Maybe, as a novelty, but I don't think it can be as quick or as intuitive (maybe, after a lot of practice...) as playing Zelda with a normal GCN pad.

If and when I eventually get a Wii, I may pick up TP for the novelty of the Wii controls. But really, I'm sticking to what I know for the game I know. I don't want to be fumbling around aiming my wrist at little specks on a screen, when I know I can do it in a split second using an analogue stick.

8/10 for controls? Add 2 if you'll be playing the Gamecube version (like me).  :P

Nah. Nintendo had some crazy idea about actually supplying people with the console instead of having massive shortages. Apparently people will be able to walk into a store on launch day and just buy a system without preordering or waiting in line. Must be some wacky Japanese business philosophy.

The ancient Zen philosophy of meeting supply with demand.

Mainichi Shinbun's website is all over PS3 too, not a word on Wii. Yet despite Sony's marketing machine - and all the lovely Japanese girls in cool hats, hehe - it seems the public know what they want.

Wing over to http://news.bbc.co.uk/1/hi/technology/default.stm and you'll find the BBC are running a poll on which new console people would buy... to my joy (and I have to say surprise too) Wii is winning. O_O
Could it be Nintendo truly has a Sony and Microsoft beater? I know the console itself is better than PS3 and XBox360, but we all knew that about Gamecube and PS2 but PS2 still sold far more methinks.

I love Pokemon Snap so much. ^__^
I am waiting for DS sequel, though I doubt it will ever happen.
A Wii sequel is perhaps likely... it would certainly work well I think.
